No matter how many times it's told, there are always nonbelievers; assuming because you have a hole in an enclosure, it is ported, yes your enclosure has a hole in it but it is not a properly vented box, what you have is a leaky sealed box, and sadly it lacks the good things gained when you properly port a enclosure. Here is a technical understanding: http://www.bodziosoftware.com.au/PORTS.pdf

Kerfing 101- UNDER CONSTRUCTION What is Kerfing? “Kerf” by definition means “width of a saw cut”. This is the width of the actual saw tooth itself as opposed to the width of the blade as a saw tooth flares out and away from a blade. “Kerfing” is a term that many woodworkers have adopted to define the process of making several cuts within a piece of wood to achieve the removal of material. Often this removal of material will allow one to then bend the wood stock making a nice professional and appealing curve that can be incorporated into the project. Kerfing and Car Audio: What can Kerfing do for you in your quest of car audio domination? Well first of all it is important …

Been awhile since Ive been on here but I Just purchased back my 2x 15" SSA Icon subs I first purchased around 11 years ago. I have/ had them in a 7.2 cubic foot box net tuned to 32 and it sounded great on the bass music and rap/ hip hop I used to listen to but not amazingly accurate/ punchy on rock, etc. Im looking to only use one of them in my 2010 Ram 1500. I currently have a 10" JL W7 in a sealed box in the truck and it sounds great and I love it but doesn't quite have the output Id like and planning to put 1 of the Icons in the truck. Im considering either Ported or sealed. I now listen to mainly bands like chainsmokers, club music, alt rock, heavy…

Looking to build a 4th order bandpass For two 15" Orion xtr. I have a 5000 watt Planet audio anarchy amp to push them stock alt. Stock bat. 0 gage power and ground. Can any one help me with a cut out and measurements. I tried and failed miserabley.

  9. Long story short - I have a '19 f250 underseat box with 2 10" 2.2ft tuned to 36hz. and am trying to decide on drivers for it. I have a Sundown sa10 in a 1ft box tuned to 35hz - I'm happy with the lows but it drops off in the higher frequencies quick - in songs with a lot of dynamic bass frequencies I can barely hear bass in some parts and other parts it shakes the car, so it feels "uneven" during the song. I'm looking for a setup with loudness but also smoother over a larger frequency range. I've modeled an idq10, jl 10w3 and Sa10. in 1.1ft box tuned to 36hz (below). When I change the idq10 to two drivers and double the volume (2.2ft) the graph doesn't change. S…

I’m told the zv4 do well in a 4th but really wanted to do a 6th tuned to 25/50hz with 4 6” aero ports in the rear and square port up front The plan is loud and windy however my concern is that I’m estimating to clamp 20k or more out of the amps is my general guess (which could be wrong) and throwing that much power at the subs in a 6th will have them slappin like hell. I plan to under size the…

So I decided to post this outside my build log to see if anyone might have any ideas to help me solve this issue. Equipment: SLS 8inch Midbass Drivers running 60hz - around 200 i think. Mounted in the doors w/ a pretty solid treatment of SDS MLV, CCF, and CLD. Shitty GM doors aside, its a pretty solid installation. kicker 250.2 bridge to each side Description of problem: Midbass from left side is quieter by rough 1/2 to the ear w/ an 80Hz sine wave tone (measures around 8dB lower IIRC). I don't remember there being a huge difference between left and right previously, though I didn't really touch the stereo for over a year. My understanding of …

I have a 2002 Silverado 1500HD crew cab that I am wanting to put 2 xl 12s in. I will actually be underpowering them a little with about 1300 watts a piece when wired together to .5 ohms. I am not wanting a blow through I just want a box that may not take up too much room so I can have at least one person ride in the back. What volume would the box need to be? And how much port area?

Want to build a series-tunes 6th order for a Single Fi Car Audio SSD 18. Not sure where to start I know 6th orders are more complex to design and more of a trial and error build but if I never try it out I will never learn. So of course the goal is to successfully build a 6th order but depending on the final results if it does not meet expectations there will be adjustments. Also if none of the revisions succeed I will fall back on a standard Ported Enclosure . Please if you have any useful information on 6th order designing/building It would be awesome if you can share them with me . Thanks in advance max dimension - height 30” - depth 21” - width 38…

Hi everyone I am about to try my hand at making a box of a different type for the first time. Mainly I'm doing this because it is very interesting to me and also because I can stick this speaker in my girl's car and if it sounds awesome I;m hoping she allows it to take up that valuable "grocery getting" real estate in her trunk. So I'll start here. Vehicle : 2002 Lexus GS300 Location in the vehicle: Trunk Space available (Length x Width x Height): 36" x 24" x 22" Subwoofer make and model: Ampere Audio 2.0 8" (spec's below) Subwoofer Size: 8" 300 Watts RMS Number of Subwoofers: 1 Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.): slot (T-L…
