i was surfing around another sight and seen a post of a fellar wanting to check his design on a port. he was told a length by the guy , and drafted the port out accordingly. the port he presented is the exacrt length he was told. i was just thrown off by this because it is a slot port, and i thought that the end correction should of been factored in. i was told it wasn't. so does the end correction not always factor into a port design? the port folded so it was so it was not on the exterior wall, but ended inside the box along the adjacent port wall. thanks for the help. just wanting to ensure i am equiped with the right info. chop edit.... the length given was to be 26…

Relatively new to these kind of speakers(power hungry, big foam, high excursion monsters). Used to my old Orions and JBL GTI(the real ole ones that were based on pro drivers). Anyway, picked up a pair of these Eclipse SW8122DVC...spec sheet here(found in a different thread on this forum....TYVM) http://www.cartoys.com/cartoy/pdfs/Eclipse_spkr_manual.pdf The sheet seems to call for a sealed box.....but I have a feeling that a slotted port might be a good option too. I am shooting for a SQ system(yes I read here that there is no such thing as """""SQL"""""....lol, and I get the point, but I have had plenty of SQ systems that got REAL loud....sorry, it w…

Ok so they have these so called SPL subs right like Re's new MT or treo's CSX right, ok so i was looking at them and then was told they were no for everyday listening.... ..What the hell does that mean, to me it makes it seem like if i'm not giving it a constant tone or something, the sub will mess up, dont really see how but thats what it seems like, now if they meant that it would be to loud for everyday listening...i'm game, that just means my car would be one loud SOB...just kinda stumped on this not for everyday listening thing...

I have a 95 extended cab Silverado that I want to put a decent sounding system in. Nothing radical, just decent. The enclosure will be going under the back seat and the best i can figure I will only have ~2 cu ft to work with. The box could be 60"+ long but only ~14" deep and 4"(back) x9"(front) tall with a considerable section (21") that would be much more shallow across the hump. I was pretty discouraged when i measured my dimensions. I don't think i can raise the seat as it's mounted to the sides of the cab. My options are wide open. I am willing to do anything from 8s to a single 12" (doubtful). I'm not sure I can make a ported design work but I guess it's possible.…

Aight guys, I have 10" american xfl sub a ported box tuned to 30hz in my sedan and I was thinking about switching it up and doing a 4th order bandpass box with a flared port tube shooting thru the rear deck. Also the rear deck will custom fiberglassed and molded to securely mount the port and speakers. Or should I just leave the ported box and fiberglass the rear deck with a vent for the bass to come thru. I'm just trying to eliminate having to keep the armrest down or having the seats folded down so that the bass isn't trapped in the trunk. Here's a video of a lexus with a 4th order bandpass box ported thru the rear deck thru the factory sub location http://www.caraudio.…

So I'm doing a build in my 2003 Dodge Dakota crew cab of 2 15" icons and would like to reinforce my roof. I'm getting 3/4-1" flex on one 10" incriminator I series and also headliner slap and it drives me crazy. I have a bulk pack of dynomat extreme I got for like 20 bucks. Would 3/8" MDF with kerfs And lots of pl then dynomat between headliner and wood be good? Just want to cut down roof flex and stop headliner flex. Any suggestions? I would rather not have to order stuff if possible as I'm tearing truck apart this weekend and shipping is slow Thanks

For years i have had this idea for a box design, i always asked others what they thought of the idea. Well here I am again yrs later wondering if some kid really good at box design would want to put it to the test. this is a totally sealed box design with a tube inside the box 1/4-1/2 of the box volume and same diameter as your drivers mount rim. this tube is just that a tube, a directional enforcer of the sound wave to the back of the full box. I was always told it was a stupid and fruity idea, any you kids wanna play around with it on a computer model and see what happens? maybe I am crazy but the idea to me is it would give a little more crunch on that SPL meter since …

First-the enclosure specs for 15 inch xcons have a standard and optimal size. What are the key differences in the two? Also-I had to sell one of my amps to get through a hard time. My question is, powered by a fosgate t1500bdcp amp, should i run one sub ported at 2 ohm or both of them sealed at 1 ohm?

So I get through most of the sketch up of a new box and it hits me... My port is 6" wide and where it ends is 6.75" away from the wall of the enclosure. Even though it is more space than the total width of the port, I assume it is close enough that it will effectively create another bend in the port and add more length than I want? It's late, I'm tired, and I think I just wasted the last hour. fml I am curious, at what point does the port end and the perpendicular wall change port length? How close, or far do they need to be?

2012 focus sedan. currently running a prefab decent but cheap box ..in its current position metered 138 @ 37hz sealed on the windshield. fired the box forward today and noticed it wasn't half as loud this tells me my positioning is right for this car. So my question is do you think this box is working well or should i build a new box different specs i don't compete but i like loud and low this setup is pretty good for a single 10 but i think there is room for improvement would like some opinions/box ideas my max dimensions are going to be around W x H x D 30x14x27 to easily be able to fit through trunk opening which is a must as it needs to be removable when i DJ A…

So, my daughters MECA Power Wheel got a broken port... So I decided to rebuild... The small sealed enclosure was practically free airing so I was looking at making a loading wall, but I don't know how to tune for just a loading wall which got confusing because it started coming out at a 6th order... So I started looking into 4th order, sealed one half, ported other. plenty of loading surface, as well as the output for the port to under the dash for the kick score. I have it as .35ft^3 sealed side (its a single 8 sealed enclosure is .25-.5ft^3) and ported side .68ft^3 with 2 2" aeros 10" long at 45hz. still fits on the back of the power wheels, and tuning a little higher f…

Whats up guys...Heres a box I finished up yesterday. It is a transmission line tuned around 31Hz. Right now there is an EHQS 12 (SVC 4 ohm) in there. Amp is a JBL CS200.1. Rated at ~200 watts at 4 ohms. As for how it sounds...FUKIN AWESOME. The tonality is a lot different from the 2.5 cu ft @ 30Hz box it the EHQS was in and output is a lot higher. This thing digs deep and has usable response down to 25Hz testing with sine waves...below that it unloads and doesn't have much output. It has a pretty flat response from 28 - 60Hz. I really love how it sounds. It's easy to tell when the EHQS is reaching its mechanical limits as I can hear it bottoming out but that is…

In the trunk of my car, there are two bars running across the top of my trunk, that attach to my trunk lid, i suppose its there to adjust tension for my trunk lid, will if i remove those i can get an extra 2" height and that will make a large difference for my enclosure and layout in general. Anyone remove these before?

I've decided to try a ported enclosure for my sa-10 just for kicks. I'm thinking 1.0ft^3 tuned to around 33hz. I'm not set on 33hz, it's somewhat of a guess as to what may sound good - I'm going for sq more than spl and listen to all genres so I need it to give me the accurate punch of rock as well as the lows in rap. My box is limited to a size of 8"d x 13h x 33"w The sub will pretty much be right up against the rear shelf of the car behind the passenger seats in a porsche 911 so I was thinking it would be better to go with a side firing aeroport over a rectangular port. My box would measure roughly 8"d x 12.5"h x 31"w, making it 1.12ft^3 after sub displacement, this wou…

I am working with a new AS1 competitor trying to get them a really nice score this season. Basically, rules are as follows- System must reside in trunk only, car MUST be off and play a song only. Well, he currently did a 140.2 with 2 Fi SSD 10s and an audiopipe 3000w using a 35A fuse. This is my theory- Because MECA's classes are limited on fuses + cone area.. and cone area and power go hand in hand with each other... as long as the space is there... more cone area and less power "should" result in a higher pressure output. He was able to pull just over 100A off that 35A fuse to get his score. We aren't restricted on cone area but cone area + fusing x 10 cannot surpass 55…

I'll soon be picking up a second Skar VVX which leaves me to a new box build (: It'll be going in the rear cargo area of a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee I'd did it tuned somewhere around 33-34Hz and about 5 cubes after displacement Subs up and port back Will be using 3/4 mdf and the top will be a double baffle (2 3/4 pieces) and the subs will be countersunk will be building an amp rack off the back (so facing the front of the car) but that really isnt part of the box design Max dim are 40 wide 25 deep and 20 tall, (pref 15 tall though) Everything I will be running is 2 Skar VVX 15's D4 wired to 1 ohm Concept HPN-1500 (clamped clean at 1100) Big 3 upgrade (to be done when i buil…
