Ok so I purchased 3 SA-10s off someone on here and should get them within a week. I really wanted to build a box with a port because lots have said SA-10s really shine ported.. but i wasnt so good at figuring out all the math for the port and even worse we sucked at knowing how to build it good.. ( first box ported we made really ) So I have been looking at these circular ports like tubes you add as the port and it seems much simpler to me.. if I understand it correctly and I tried to use 12volt.com to help me figure out port length and size and stuff.. So could someone explain to me how you build a port with the circular tubing or aero whatever it is i guess? is it serio…

Hey all.I have a few questions about walls for car audio in cars.I have wanted a wall ever since i got into car audio but ive had a few concerns about them. Here are a couple of questions/concerns I have about them. 1.About how much does a wall weigh on average? ( I was told i could get a wall built in my car that would weigh about 300lbs made of birchwood. Is that possible?) 2.Is it a must to have air shock or whatever in the rear of the car (I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.4L and it would cost over a grand to put airshocks in.) 3.Do you guys think my car could handle the weight of a wall? i VERY BADLY want a wall in my car and I know I will not stop fiddling with my …

  3. So I couldn't sleep last night and decided to start designing the box I want to build for my 4 SA-10s that im getting in next week. Thought I'd post up the pics.... Also, After discussing yesterday with a few of you and trying to decide how to do port area and everything with some aero ports, I decided on the (4) 4" aero ports.. But then after I designed it and everything I realized that the tuning you guys said was about 39hz.... and Sundown recommends 30-35hz for these subs.. 39hz was like the only tuning we could get to work in order to get enough port area for my setup.. So I wanted to make sure before I buy everything and build this,.. Are the subs going to do/sound …

Hey guys, I am in the talks with Steve, the owner of subthump.com. They make some of the best sealed prefabbed boxes I have ever dealt with. They are simply amazing, the prices are budget friendly. Their main focus are on sealed boxes, because they aim at the people who are on a budget and they can mass produce. So I have been throwing emails back and forth and emphazised how much pupularity there is out there for the Sundown Audio SA8's. Now we all know these things shine better in ported boxes. My box building days are over and subthump is nortorious for squeezing out as much air space and the deepest depth for subwoofers. Here is my first subthump box. Ran this box in…

This will be my first wall build, I've been doing a lot of reading and looking at build logs. I should start by saying the plan is 2-3 (if I can fit 3) RE XXX 15's, on either a DC Audio 12k or Stetsom 14K. I think I'm going to go with Baltic Birch for weight and strength, I am seeing guys using 2 by 4 bracing, also seeing them use it for the back of the wall outside, what is the purpose? is it needed? what other ways would you strengthen the wall or face? the subs weigh 76lbs a piece. I was thinking 3-4 layer front face, double layer everywhere else, fully resin the box. How much bracing would you recommend? If you have pics or anything else you might recommend I'm open …

So here's the deal. I have a Sundown 1200D, a Sundown 125.2 powering my setup. I will breeze over the 125.2 which will be hooked up to 2 sets of Polk db6501 components (2 ohm load) on each channel giving me a net of 100 watts to each speaker. I am building a CUSTOM box for a12" TC Sounds LMS-R sub. This sub can handle 1k watts continuos and 4k peak. I can wire this sub to be a 1 ohm load which is a load my 1200D can handle (giving out 1200 watts). I am trying to decide if I should port the box I am planning on building needs a port or not, and if so how long, size, ect I need it to be. I believe I correctly modeled the Treo TE sub I have now (in a ported probox) in t…

Well, i didnt think this was going to end up happening but i actually saw an Fi BTL N2 18" For $400 in my city. I was previously going to get a 15" Fi Q or BL which was going to cost me $400 shipped anyways so i cant give up this opportunity. Now in the quest for less trunk rattle, i wanted to fire my subwoofers forward into the cabin, BUT i dont have foldable seats. OhJay gave me a good idea. Use external aeroports that go through the rear deck where the 6x9 speakers go. I thought it was a great idea, something a bit different. Now i was wondering if any of you could make it happen. Iv got probably 19 inches maximum of height, probably about 40 inches of width. I…

Hey Guys, i'm sorta new to the forum so do bash me too hard I am designing an enclosure for a 21" Death Penalty. This is my 4th variation: 8.533^ft, Tuned to 33hz, Kerfed port opening, Double baffle, 1 1/2 Port bracing, 1" Dowel bracing, 121^in of Port. I have a Dodge Journey that I want to put 2 SX 12s in. (By the way, only have one right now, need another. Put the word out, D2) I want to have the 'right' box for it. Not one that a experienced builder can demo and know quickly that it's a crap build. I have been reading the available threads on what makes a vented box a 'good' vented box. But to honest, it seems pretty complicated. I am not a fluid dynamics student. But I am trying to learn. It is hard to narrow down my music style. It's 50/50 between hard rock like Metallica and such, and also rap/hip-hop. I know that doesn't make it easy. It will be running on a solid 2300wrms. I have the whole back available for the …

I have been approached by a customer with 4 Kicker Warhorses and 4 Kicker Solo X 18s. He is having me build a 1990 Astro van to be all out SPL. i am looking for any help in the matter of tips, tricks, pointers, etc on how to do this install. Lexan windows are already in plans. Concrete floor will be a must (how do i do this? how thick? what kind of concrete? just the cabin or all the way back?). Lowering roof (how should i do this? what should i use?). Custom Dash (what do i use? how should i construct it? what shape?). Center Counsel (should I build one? just leave it open space? what should I build it with? how should design be?). should i cover the wall floor roof dash…

I was bored so I went & picked up 2 12s from a flea market this past weekend to experiment with. Made my first box throughout this week & tuned it to 32hz. If I wanted to tune it to 30hz would I add or cut off some wood to the end of the ports behind the subs? I can do the math but need a starting point. Also another separate question, would more port area equal a lower tuning or does it depend on the box?

Supp' SSA!! I am looking to build a higher tuned box for my 2 15" Fi Audio Q's. ( I know they are not made for spl) just for fun... I do 148.1db @ 45hz (30hz tunning) but looking to see what higher tunning will do. For some reason i always peak at 43-45 hz with diferent boxes/tunning and a friend also peaks at 45hz with diferent boxes on 2 12's. Is it the Tahoe's peak or something?. Both are 01/02 Chevy Tahoe's. If i tune a box to 43-45hz will it help because of what i peak at ? Thanks for the input.

Is it cheaper to buy my own MDF and make a box than having professionals at a audio store do it? I plan on having a SA-12 and a box Ported tuned to about 32hz with about 1.7 cubic ft of space. I have the measurements and such. I used the re audio box calculator. I can get help from my woodshop teacher and some friends but I'm curious if it's cheaper. Idk how much they charge at the audio store but I'm sure it's not cheap. And another thing how good is birch over MDF? I can get birch free but everyone tells me MDF sounds better. Build would be musical and everyday driver not spl. Thanks guys can't wait to hear from you all.
