Okay so i'm planning on having a box built for 2 12"s and having the subs face the roof (see pic) I'm wondering if I have a top piece of wood above the subs, how that would affect the sound? The top piece of wood would be above the subs by a couple inches. This would allow me to put stuff on my box for storage (ex: my backpack...) Does this make sense?

Wassup guys, I just got in my possession 2 18 inch Aq hdc3's bnib. I will be walling my truck and my deminsions I came up with are 51'' width 38'' height 24'' deep. With 1.5in thick walls, I get 20.4 cubes. I gave my self alittle wiggle room for the height and width. I will be tuning to 36 hz with a 9x38 port that is 20.5 in long. It will be braced and before bracing will come out to about 8.2-8.4 per sub, that is after port displacement. If anyone could run those specs I would greatly appreciate it. This will be going into a 2000 gmc Sierra ext cab. They will be powered by 2 crescendo bc2000ds at 4ohm strapped daily then 1 ohm strapped for comps I'm looking fo…

  8. Just to start off, I'm building this for the heck of it and recently picked up an inexpensive Memphis audio 15-ms84 to build a box around. This box might be placed in a car just to see what it will do but will stay mostly in the office. The pictures should give you an idea what I'm trying to do, and should show most of the specs of the box. Basically using an 8.25" x 1" slot port that is 23" in length with a tuning around 38 hz. The box volume is .59 f^3. The response curve seemed to have an nice flat-ish shape that hopefully will make it sound 'full' to the Fs. If I'm doing something completely wrong, please let me know - Gently please. Thanks John

Been bumping my 15" SSD for a while now and I'm still loving every second of it except for one thing. The rattle. Its not the trunk rattling its my back deck speakers, and the reason their rattling so bad is because the sub is firing up towards them. My dad had to buy a special bolt and locking nut to keep the screws from backing out because every time i listened to it the screws holding the back deck speakers in backed out about 2 inches. Its really annoying, you either have to listen music with the bass so low it doesn't rattle them or so loud you can't hear the rattle. *And I'm not taking the back deck speakers out they help fill the cabin with highs So here is my plan…

  10. I had a 4th order bandpass box designed for me, but he didn't give me an output graph or tuning frequency or anything else. So before I build the box, I'd like to know what the output graph looks like (if there are any high/low peaks/dips in the curve at certain frequencies). How can I figure out what the 'range' of the box/sub is? I'm not sure how to ask this, but I'd like to know the frequency band width. Whats the lowest the sub should play and the highest the sub should play. So I know where to set my subsonic//lowpass filters. Can anyone help me? Let me know what measurements you might need or just tell me how I can calculate it.

  11. I recently changed the enclosure of my sub. Nothing else has changed : same electrical, same amp,... The old one was too small, and badly tuned (too high). The new one is really a good one. When I made the change, I was not so happy with it. And after a few days I start to like it more and more! Could it be that the sub need to adapt to its enclosure for some time before playing as it should ? Maybe I am just getting used to it! What do you think about that?

ok, i'm gonna risk one hell of a flamming here and ask you guys. i was nomeened R-tard of the month on CA.com for saying this so chances are it's gonna happen here too, but what the hell K my question is can you guys hear the difference between a 4 ohm and 1 ohm load? now im not talking about sitting in someone else's car and knowing it, but if you have a 2x2 sub and wiring it to 1 and 4 ohm load. i have tried it with a two different amps(a 2 channel in 2 ohm bridge) and my current RF bd 1000.1. although on a 1 ohm load and lower it ponds like a bastard it just sounds too off, sort of muddy... this all applies if the amp is stable on those loads of course just curious...

  15. I would like to know how many or even if anyone uses a 4 inch aeroport for a 12 inch sub without any problems. Reason i ask is because i built a 2 cu. ft. box for my audiopulse axis with a 4 inch aeroport tuned to ~34 hz and it sounds fine, only up to a certain point though. I don't like the noise it makes, i guess that's what chuffing sounds like and i can't stand it so i turn the volume down. I was also only using a saz 1000d on it with absolutely horrible electrical so there's no way i was reaching its limits with it's insane power requirement. Now i know for a fact that that's not enough port area but i would still like to know if anyone uses a 4" and gets away with …

Stupidly I bought an 18 Fi BL and didn't realize I couldn't fit the recommended box inside my trunk...its anywhere between 4-4.5 cubic ft..Is there anyway I can build a new box similar in size that will increase the current SPL levels and help not suffocate the sub-woofer so much?

Hey guys! This is my first post on this forum, so please excuse me if I'm breaking any protocol. Anywho, if anyone's interested in Digital Designs' new T series subs, check out the link below in which I posted my build thread. I realize it's linked to Elemental Designs, but that's only because I was initially considering the use of their 8" sub. I can't compare the two, but let's just say that I am THRILLED with the performance, sound, and appearance of DD's T1508. I couldn't ask for anything more... well not from an 8" sub. Don't take that the wrong way, though. If I were to compare to anything at the local Best Buy, I'd have to be looking at a single 12" or a pair of 10…
