Hey guys, my friend has a Ford Ranger and he asked me if having the port facing the door or roof would be louder. And I decided to ask on here for him. Reason because he is getting a box designed, what would the pros/cons of having it facing either way be? Thanks in advance.

I am wondering if the Mach 5 SPL-12s would be any good in a T-Line? I have been told they should be good, but the fs is sorta high. I am planning on doing this with my camper shell but with a different box... the box can run the length of my truck... I plan to make up some metal frame for the box to sit on inside the bed. Having the box above the floor will give me room for my air ride when that gets installed..

Putting this into a grand caravan, middle seats up, backseat stowed. Going ported, thinking 30-33hz tuning wise, any recommendations? Going to run it off a Sundown 1500d, so box size recommendations? Also, will be running the stock alt for awhile (160 factory). Doing my big 3 upgrade with 1/0 and a single run of 1/0 for now....later upgrades will be wiring and alt before anything else...also no sound deadening for now...also looking for any recommendations for sub/port orientation? sub/port back towards hatch, sub up/ports toward hatch, sub up/port facing side....anyone with experience in a minivan would be nice, not that most of you have one, but a guy can hope lol. than…

I need to build a slanted box and obviously the port is going to need bending. Should I go with a labyrinth port or an l-shaped port ? How do I calculate the lenght of the port, because the top part of it is going to be shorter than the bottom. Should I average the lengths ? A couple pictures might help... To my understanding that would be an overall length of ~40cm. Am I right or am I terribly wrong ?

ok a couple of months ago i had woodlawn cabinetry build an ensclure for the subs that i thought i was going to use. well like a couple of weeks ago it arrived. and i really like it but the subs i had told him i was going to use i no longer want to use. so i figured that if the subs that i wind up using have a smaller displacement then the ones i was going to use then the port would be tuned a little lower and vise versa for bigger. now am i wrong and the ensclure is a 4.5 c^3 tuned to 33hz after displacement, common chambered for 2 12" ICONS. i want to use either 2 eclipse sw7200 or 2 12" aa aresanals powered by a sae1000d if u want to know.

I did search 'box carpet',and you'd be amazed (sarcasm) how much those two words are used on this forum. lol, i went through about 15 pages and found some good info on where to get it,but i still have one question. A lot of people said they got their carpet from a hobby store, and i'm just curious what kind of carpet to look for when i get there. I could be wrong, but i don't see them having "sub enclosure carpet", so i really just need a name to call it... If i can't find it at a hobby store, i guess partsexpress.com is the next choice ($5.85/yd... much better than crutchfield's $30 for 3yds.)

Sorry for the long post. I just bought a pair of Beals Bros 8" midbass drivers. I have no specs on them. I know you are probably saying to yourself, why would he buy them if he doesnt know anything about them. Well they were cheap and in great shape. Now on the the questions. As many of you know I am currently running a set of CDT HD-62 pushed by a Memphis 16-mc300 ~150x2@4ohm (depending on voltage) ~240x2@2ohm ( " " " ) Here is where the questions start. The Beals is 2 ohm nominal and the HDs are 4ohm. that would make the final load 6ohm for series ( not enough) or 1.3ohm for parallel ( too low). I have heard that lower impedance=more distorti…

  18. I wasn't going to do anything to my 2005 Chrysler 300c but that has changed. I have two ideas and need some suggestions. I'm replacing what is there now with a Fi BL15. Plan 1...sub firing forward into the cabin (cut out armrest hole and aim through there), port through the deck and seal off the trunk completely. Or plan 2...fire sub rearward port probably up (not through deck). In either case I don't want to go any deeper than the folding floor (approx 24"). I ran the numbers and can get 3.5 cu ft (after displacements) and tune to 33hz. I prefer sq but like it a little heavy occasionally. I listen to all kinds of of music but am thinking this setup will really sh…

ok so between my 2 15's im going to have about 400 square inches of port area, and i need to know if figuring out tuning frequency is the same as like a round or slot port. or if 400 is too much lemme know. i have figured 355 per sub so 2/3rds of that is about 220 per sub. but the box is going to be aboue 3.5-3.8 cubes per sub and i would like it to be tuned to around 35 hz. but i have no idea how long i need to make the port or anything like that. so any tips or tricks are well appreciated.

What do you guys think of the design? Its for a DC lvl 4 12'' sub How would I factor in a kerfed port to the design??? If the kerf is secured as an external portion of the port, will it affect tuning or require a change in design anywhere? Specs come to: -2 cubic feet before subs displacement -32.5hz tuning -36.25 sq inches of port area

  22. I recently changed the enclosure of my sub. Nothing else has changed : same electrical, same amp,... The old one was too small, and badly tuned (too high). The new one is really a good one. When I made the change, I was not so happy with it. And after a few days I start to like it more and more! Could it be that the sub need to adapt to its enclosure for some time before playing as it should ? Maybe I am just getting used to it! What do you think about that?

Help Please. I want to build a ported box for 4 FI 15" BTL's Currently I have a 9 Cuft box with 2 FI 15" BTL's. Each sub in it's own enclosure. FI suggests 3-5 Cuft per sub. Can I make just one box for all 4 with one port? Or do I make a box that seperates all 4 or two? I like the sound with 4.5 Cuft per sub. I am also lost on the port area if I make one 18 Cuft box for all 4. Really appreciate your suggestions here. Thanks, JR

Why do you compete? Since I opened, I will let you all know why I compete. I compete to have fun and to represent. One of the main reasons why I compete is because of the gear I run. Back when i started, it was about fun and there were plenty of Orion competitors, now there is a few of us, and I doubt that none are as serious as I with the Orion equipment. That would be the main reason, to bring back the Orion name to the competition arena, make them the proud people they used to be. Many of you might not remember Orion back in the days when Wayne Harris used to work for them, or when you could see atleast 40 cars at finals with their equipment. Not only am I bringi…
