MY buddy drives a 2008 regular cab silverado..... He has a matrix 12' that is a fairly beefy subwoofer..... if im correct his amp is 1000 watt This weekend we plan to build a box like Fi-Ford Console/Enclosure...STEALTH - SSA Car Audio Forum Has built for trucks.... My question is.... WE plan on just doing it sealed to begin with... I think with this small of a truck it will be just fine and loud enough.... If he is no satisfied if we were to use like 1 or 2 tubes of pipe to port it would it in any way mess up the subwoofer or anything... ( could we vary the sound by length of the port in the box what size pipe would be best... ) also... if we do it either…

This is my first box design and I just wanted someone to check over it and make sure it's accurate. It's for a hdc3 18 on a bxi2010 in a 96 Blazer. The box specs are 37.5w, 21.5h, 21.5d, port width is 6", port length is 6", 6 cubes tuned at 36hz.. Thanks.

Howdy SSA. Haven't been on here in forever. OK so I am looking to create an interchangeable port system for my box. Here is the layout of the box: (Feel free to steal the design) Playing around with my little box designing sheet, I thought about making a system where I can remove an appx 7 inch section of the port wall and insert some custom made plugs to lower the volume of the box. This would be just to switch things around. Now does anyone have an idea of how i can create a moveable port wall? I thought about a slide-in design (a hole cut in the top of the box that would let me slide the wall down in like a dam wall) or maybe a system of rails. I'm just looking for so…

Can anyone give me a fairly straight forward design for a bandpass box for two 5 1/4" woofers? I like the one i have, but it is uber ghetto (Current Box) I would like to have it peak around 28-30hz for chopped and screwed music, but maintain some punchiness on higher notes. Box size isnt really an issue, the one i have currently is around 9in tall, 4ft long, and 3ft wide. I like the style of mine, the way it is laid out, chamber, port etc so anything similar would be perfect (i might use a plexi top; If i do go with the plexi, i'm spraying the insides flat black). I will build it myself, out of 3/4" mdf and some bracing. Only requirements are is that it must be at most 12…

  8. Hi all, I have 2 boxes that ive built and i am in the process of testing. ->build log here<- they both have the same interior volume and tuning and all that good stuff. so the internal volume is about 2.45 cuft with a tuning of ~34 hz with about 40 sq inches of port each. now i had a box that was 2.5 cu ft tuned to 34 hz with 39 sq inches of port and didnt get much overexcursion. so heres my problem. on low notes like 28-34 hz the sub barely moves and creates ALOT of sound, im very shocked by this. but when you get to like 36-40 hz the sub reaches its limits of excursion and anything above 40 its just bottom out city! im very scared about this because in the o…

I have 4 12" RF Punch Z's in a sealed box. There are 4 different chambers in the box, one for each sub. (Approx 1 1/2 cuft each) I'm wanting to port this box to make it louder with PVC aero ports. My questions are: 1) Should I put a different port for each chamber/sub? or Should I take out the walls between each chamber and just port the whole box as one? 2) How big of PVC pipe will I need to effectively port the box? Id like the tuning to be as close to 30-35 hz as possible. Doesn't have to be an EXACT tuning 3) Where should I put the ports? Here's a couple pictures to help with what the box design is:

I am just dreaming here. I plan to upgrade my substage, but due to a lack of cash, this probably wont be for another year or so. im just kinda tossin around ideas. I want to have a system that is "Clean n Loud", not geared specifically towards SQ or SPL. I listen mainly to rock, metal, but on occasion rap and R&B (so basically everything). I have a decent sized trunk but the entrence to said trunk is very small, hindering what can fit into it..... So far i am thinking of three ideas that would fit. The first would be to run 2 10" SSD's in a ported box, tuned to ~30 hz, the second would be to run 2 12" SSD's in a sealed box. Any recomendations on these two? Like i sa…

So i am building a new box as of this moment i have 2.5 net volume without any sub displacement or any thing. The driver is 1 RE SE12 . My desired tuning frequency is around 32-34 hz. I want to know what the port diameter and length i have tried some calculators but they are to long for the enclosure.

So Im designing a new enclosure and have come across a speed bump. Using the12volt slot port length calculator with these numbers: 24, 4, 6.13, 32= 33.13in Using carstereo.com port length calculator with the same numbers for a square slot port= 21.13in But when you change the option of slot port from yes to no, the new calculation is exactly 33.13in Why do they not match for the same thing? Shouldnt a square vent be shorter than a slot port? Did carstereo.com just flip flop them or something? Am I taking crazy pills or what?

Hi It just got to my head that I should probably get rid of the box I have and make one myself. The one I have was bought from a shop and I dont even know what it is tuned to or the cubic foot. From the outter measurements, Im calculating 1.75-1.80 cubic foot. Here are the measurements of the current box I have my Pioneer TS-W3002D4 Well, basically I want my own box so that I know the exact tuning and size. First, I would like to know if its good to have a 12" tunned to 32Hz since thats what I want to have my box tuned at. 32Hz with ~1.80cubic foot AFTER subwoofer displacement. I would prefer to have subwoofer AND port facing the same way and box measurements ~15-16inche…

I am going to make a box with aeroports for a 15" Fi Q powered by a SAZ-1500. My deminsions that I have available are 34"x30"x14". I was able to get 4 4" aeroports with both sides flared from someone which should fit in the 12-16 of area per cubic foot. I was looking at a box that had outer deminsions of 32"x28"x13" to get just over 4 cu. ft. after sub and port displacements tuned to 32 hz. After doing the calculations for the box I have found out that I am suppose to use 29-30" long aero ports and that will not be able to fit so I was thinking of tuning a little higher. I was wondering what is the rule on the distance the aeroport should be from the back wall so I c…

My buddy is trying to put a 18" fi ssd fully loaded in the back of his eagle summit van.. He has about 1200 watt rms of power to run the sub.. There is two different set of max dimensions we can use ( it all depends on how tall the box will actually be. The first set is a tall narrow box and our max dimensions are 27 1/4 tall X 39 wide X 15 Deep. And the other set is 20 1/2 deep X 39 wide X 21 tall. Any help would be wonderful... Would really like start build on box as soon as we can.. Also I would like it ported wit a tune right around 32 hz. And I not sure wat would sound best wit the speaker direction and port direction so any advice is wonderful.

The site lists 1.8 cu.ft. for the IXL 12 SL. I am assuming this is for either home or car use, so would a box approximately 1.52 ft3 with pollyfill be adequate? More specifically my dimensions are: 17"x15.5" top/bottom 15.5"x11.5" r-side/l-side/inner baffle 17"x13" front/back internal: 15.5"x14.75"x11.5" This is attempt number 2 for a box. I needed some mdf for door speaker baffles and had to buy a whole sheet so I figured out all the numbers for a 1.35 cu.ft. box because thats what i remebered and had it cut at lowes today (actually I have enough for 2 boxes that size). I got home to make sure i remembered right, and of course 1.35 is for the icon, the other sub I was t…

I would Love to hear from a few people that have used Luxury liner pro. I have 4 sheets of LLP. I bought the LLP with the plans of installing on the front floors and under the front door panels. If I have any left I plan on the front of the rear wheel wells. The box will be forward firing with the trunck sealed off. I have already dampenered the inside of the car. My goals are to lower the highway road noise and just to lower the noise floor of the car. I realize every application is differant but would like to hear what results and experiences some people have had with the LLP. I have used the search function with no luck and also went to the SS forum but them guys a…

For my next set up I'm thinking of running an active 3 way system. I would like to run an Sax-125.2 or a Sax100.4 whichever is better for a 3 way setup. My budget its slightly fixed anywhere from 200-250 for the 3 way set up. This will be going into a 4 Door Explorer. I typically listen to anything from Rap to death metal to spoken word; I would like a system that is well versed and able to transit from genre to genre with ease. Also to be able to reproduce it accurately but also i need something loud to be behind 4 15's. I am able to fabricate things; i have fiberglassed and know how, also i have access to many tools. I need to start off finding Tweeter, Midrange, and a…

  23. Hi all, I'm working on a design for 3 18" BTL's for a jeep grand Cherokee, the hard part about this is that he wants to run the vehicle in the "no wall" class for db drag, meaning that you cant have any part of the audio above the window line. so this creates a space issue. he also is going to be using about 6 Power master D3100 batteries. so that takes up some of the space. the space we have to work with is 66" deep x 43.25" wide x 18" or under tall. now the batteries (which will be connected with buss bars) will be in front of the box. this will take about 14 inches of the depth, so that leaves us with 52 inches. now if you try to port firing backwards that takes…

i know pretty much nothing about mids and highs just to throw that out there. Is there a big enough difference between running mids/highs on 2 ohms vs 4 ohms that is actually worth sacrificing the power to run @ 4 ohms? or is 2 ohms going to be good enough for a daily driver? edit: by the way if anyone has a good place to educate myself on mids/highs that would be greatly appreciated.
