  1. Hello all, I have been away from the forums for some time since graduating college and started working again. Now that I have some money to finally move away from these seemingly low powered setups (6 systems since 2012), I am looking for help with my wall build. I am going to be building the base to the wall in my 2016 Ford Focus sedan in a week or two, and there is a lot of room to work with (over 30 cubes). I will be running 2 18" ZCONs on (undecided) either a 5.5k or 6.5k amp with supporting electrical (batt bank, lots of OFC wire, and HO alt). This is my daily, and I just want a ground pounder with no care to what numbers it'll put up in the lanes. I would like to de…

I have modeled up a box for a 12" Fi.SSD Now I'd just some of you box builders to just verify what I've done. And let me know if its good or not Here is a pic since they're worth 1000 words: Port and Sub displacement has been accounted for. Where would be the best location on the port side to place the sub? I dont quite understand port loading and such. Thanks in advance

I'm starting my first system with 4 of the rl-i8's and need a lil help on my box. it's not gonna be just one big box but 4 seperate ported boxes. each one will be about (acording to the program im using) 10" wide, 15" tall, and 9" deep. im having problems with the port though. the program said it should be 1/2" by 2" by 2" deep for a 35 hz. this sounds way small to me. is it? and does this idea seem good or is it too "over the top."

  8. So i'm trying to "model", if that's the correct term, a subwoofer in WinISD and BBP6 as a comparsion between the programs.. They both tune the enclosure super low. WinISD picks a net volume; BBP6 didn't have a specified net volume. Neither suggest port area.. Whats going on? EDIT: BBP6 tuned to 23 Hz (super low), WinISD tuned to a reasonable 34 Hz (but net volume was like .5 cuft)

  10. I want to have a smaller sub for when I travel or haul things. I currently have a 4 cu ft box with an re sx15 firing up and port back. It doesn't leave me much storage room in the back. Since I can't stack anything on top of the box, or by the port. So I'm thinking about a downfiring rear firing box for one Skar vvx12. It would be on the drivers side. Aprox 14" wide, 13" tall, and 27" long, with 4-5" feet on the bottom. The port would be about 4" off my hatch. I'm thinking about a slot port 2" high and 12.5" wide. Net volume 1.7 tuned to 32 hz. This is for daily listening at reasonable volumes. I'm looking for a 5-600 watt amp to run it off of. How much room should I ha…

  11. Pardon the dust, under construction Hey guys! Have you ever seen panels in installs like this and wondered how in the world did they get those shapes? Well with a series of router tips and tricks, you can start with literally any shape drawn on paper (shown on left), and transform it into a perfectly fabricated wooden template that you can then copy several times into future installs. (Shown on right). Take your installs to the next level with these shaped panels that you can use for hiding amps and crossovers, trimming around speakers, making amazing port shapes, the possibilities are endless! Let's get down to the nitty gritty: What you Need: Safety First! Make sure…

  13. Hi I am doing my best to avoid stupid pointless purchases with my summer build however the box Ive had built did not pass your guys inspection http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/58341-please-help-me-figure-out-port-tuning-did-i-get-screwed/ Current box: 34W X 14H X 24D outer dimensions Port: 4W X 12.5H X 12D (no L) (2) DD 2512C on (2) hifonics brz1200 @ 1ohm ea the only difference with the pics in the link above is that I have removed the slanted port divider I'm wondering if a "better" box would be the way to go I have no reason to think the box is performing poorly I'm currently on a mission for more power but Ive got alot of responses to my amp bu…

  14. Vehicle: 93 Passat Subwoofers: 4 12" DD1500 Series Amplifiers: Unknown, 2000 watts max clamped class Now my initial thought form what ive seeen is a 10 cube box tuned to around 34 for daily and w/e the vehical likes for spl subs clustered up by passenger head rest, port drivers side. other than that im not sure what else to ry when building a wall... So if you have a wall or know of some good pointers please let me know! NOw for a few quesitons: 45° corner pieces or reverse rounds? 2x4"s around the box for supports or just double layer everything? does the location of the baffle matter that much? as in how far away it is from the b-pillar? and how would you find the best…

So I was looking at pics of banginAltima's Altima and noticed the external aero ports were facing into the car thru the folded down rear seats. I'm building a box for 2 Fully Loaded 15" BL's and was wondering if I can do something similar. However, theres a catch to my set up. I have a 88' Grand Marquis that has a solid, non-folding rear seat. So I was wondering if I could make custom external aero ports thru my rear deck between the 2 6X9's. Would that have the same effect as it did in Altima's car? He gained about 4Db when he re-designed the box and port set-up. Or am I just being unrealistic?

So a few months ago I built a ported box for my HT with an IDmax at 3.2 cubes plenty of bracing and tuned to 27. Although it is plenty loud I find it quite boomy. If I'm listening to music that doesn't have much below low 30's it sounds fine, but on Hip hop and rap it just slams from 26-34ish like holy hell. I finally broke down and bought a table saw. Holy..akdkdfd its nice having a good saw (550 for Delta contranctor 680, that lists for 720 so I didn't do too bad. anyway here is a t-line (or part of one that I put together last night, I'll try to keep updating pics. Assuming line length is nearly doubled when fully stuffed, tapering from 2sd to .95sd. around 7.3 cubes …

Sorry for another question (just taking advantage of my day off). I just finished up damping my door panels, the sheet metal, framing, and plastic panels,as well as the rear hatch with eDead 120 and Damplifier Pro. Probably have used about >80 ft^3 so far. I am doing my entire roof and going to do the floor soon too but I am having trouble deciding what to do next. I keep reading very different theories about what to do, whether to use closed cell foams or open cell foams and where to use them. Some of you have recommended websites to buy different products but just need to know how much and what to buy. I have a lot of room in my doors between the interior plast…

So I'm taking my setup to a 1x event in timmonsville sc. I'll finally be getting metered on a t/l, but I'm wondering what I should bring with me, and if anyone has any tips. There are 2 classes they said I could compete in, truck/suv or something else like extreme personal or something like that. I don't know what would be better, or if it makes much of a difference because like I said, it's my first competition. I've already been told not to do anything to drain the batteries before getting metered, don't know how sound that is or not... Just wondering if there's anything I should know before driving 70+ miles away tomarrow moring. ;D Thanks.

so i think i wanna make some new boxes for my 18" BTL's they sound great in the boxes there in right now but i think i can gain a little more output with some new better made boxes. right now there in a 2000 dodge caravan. the boxes are 8.756 cubes tuned around 32-33hz sub up port up. i have been told by a friend that also runs 2 15" btls in a caravan that sub up port up does not really gain the maximum potential out of the cabin. so i was thinking about making the new boxes sub up port back. what do you guys think about differant setups like sub up port back sub up port side sub back port up which one do yall think would be the best? and can any one explain what port off…

Basically what im asking is that if I want to add another 15, I will build a new aero-ported box. What is a good way to estimate how much volume i should have? One of my 15's requires 3.5-4 optimal ported volume, i was thinking about increasing to 6.5-7.5 for two? Having a 12 ft^3 trunk really sucks sometimes...
