ALright so i want to do a kerfed port on my next box... i read a thread and i am almost ready to give it a shot. However i have one question. when you do the kerf, do you use the port piece to kerf and then attach it to the front piece on the box or is the port piece and front piece one seemless piece with the kerf in it? if this doesnt make sence i will try to expalin better.

So i have been reading on how to calculate the tuning on a box with a kerf. What is a common kerf radius? and how to you cut the wood to become that radius? google isnt really helping me out here. i know there is some extremely good carpenters here that might be able to help me out. how deep do i cute to wood to cause a certain radius. i would like all the input you guys have on kerfing to help me figure it out completely. Thank you.

Does anyone in the eastern North Carolina area make kickpods or know someone who does? I'm not terribly skilled with fiberglass.

im gonna make some kick pods using my old kickpanels in my truck, but i saw a guy on here once making them with 1/4 inch mdf for the mounting plate, and then the rest was foam filler which he resined and glassed directly on top of that then wrapped them in vinyl. is this a good idea, or stick to the regular all glassed way?

Okay, I have a guy that lives behind me that has three 12" Kicker CVR's . He currently has them in a very crappy box and is wanting me to throw a better box together for him. I stand to make a few bucks from this project. that is all. there is no possibility of him competing or even keeping this setup long term. just a better box than he has and some cash in ol' chop's pocket. So for the sake of getting good responses, i am not looking to buy these, i only want to get some good input on what volume and tunning would be good for them to get loud with. not a fart box, but i am sure he has no interest in catching the lows. I have not used these subs before..... off the top o…

I've got a pair of Kicker comp CVT65's just laying around and I thought I should do something with them. the manual says 0.2^ft sealed and well.......that sucked. wondering if anyone on here has any experience with these in a ported enclosure or any other recommendation that might make them work.

I have a single ported kicker CVX 12" in a custom box which I built, IT sounds nice. It is powered by a kicker 750.1. The box is tuned to 34hz i believe and is 2.25 cubes. The audio is nice, a nice mix between power and quality, the way I like. But Im looking to go bigger which is difficult because I have a volvo. I came upon an AMAZING deal. I am getting TWO kicker L7's and a 1500.1 kicker amp. Each L7 requires 3.23 cubes ported I believe. THER IS NO ROOM FOR TWO PORTED IN MY TRUNCK. But each one only uses 2 cubes sealed. MY QUESTION IS: Would I get more sound (louder) with one CVX 12 ported @ 750w OR would I get more sound (louder) with two SEALED L7's @ 1500w? I KNOW s…

i am trying to build a box for 4 of my kicker cvx 15's. i called kicker and they recommending using separate 3.5 cub. ft chambers tuned to 38 hz. since this is gonna be my first box build is there an easier less way to build the box without having 4 separate chambers? maybe 2 subs per port or all 4 with one port. it is going inside the car. maybe even a wall design. my available space is 32x56x36.

i have been killin myself trying to figure out a box design for my ranger and have gotten nowhere with it. i got a couple reply's on other forums but nothing set in stone. the sub is a 15"btl and my dem are 50" wide x 16 tall x 16 deep, 5.9cf before sub displacement and port displacement. i need it to have ports on both sides of the sub cause i want the sub in the center of the box (its that way to even out the weight in the truck). i would like it tuned to around 33-34hz.. any help on figuring my port length would be great. please put in laymans terms cause i am not very bright when it comes to this kinda stuff. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks btw the sub…

If have been thinking about this for too long and my brain is no longer able to figure this out on it's own Are L-pads ever used in a car audio application? I understand their use in a passive setup for home audio but what about an active setup in car audio? Hmmmmm adjusting the amplifier gain will not change sensitivity so an L-pad would be used to attenuate a higher sensitivity driver? Reason I am asking is that it can be difficult to match mid/tweeter/midbass sensitivities for an active 3-way setup. Let's say that the midbass and tweeter sensitivity is 88db 1w/1m (4 ohm). And that the midrange sensitivity is 91db 1w/m (8 ohm). I think 91db 1w/1m@8ohm is the same as …

can the single of a L-ported box be divided into two? instead of one port on one side and the sub on the otherside, it will look like ports on both end of the box with the sub in the center? if its possible, is there a calculator online for that? thanks...

So would someone who has mastered this process please help this newbe who just wants to have some good sounds to go along with these badass subs, Or even beter someone who has a solara and a simular setup. I have an old lanzar max12 subwoofer. My friend wants to get a system for his car but really dosnt have much money for one. If i put the max12 in a custom made t-line box that i made and gave it like 200rms would it be decently loud? Or is there something else i should do to get the most out of it? Im being paid to install everything and make his box so i do want it to turn out very nicely if possible. What does it usualy cost to wire for an amp and just put the box and sub in? (iv done all my own stereo on my own so idk how much to charge him...)

I need advice with my current and future setups. Please anyone with lanzar opti1535d experience, please speak up! I currenly have it in a 4.35 cube net Atrend 15lsv enclosure tuned to 36 hz with 48.5 sq in of port area. Its in my ext cab sonoma sub firing up behind drivers seat and port firing to the driver side at the base of the b pillar. Its powered by a Lanzar HTG2600d at 0.6 ohm. Here is the odd part. It metered a 139.9 at 44 hz and when I inverted the sub so the basket/motor was exposed, I then metered a 141.2 at 44 hz. For some reason I was thinking when I metered again I hit a 142.1 but that's likely just wishful thinking. Apart from the airspace change from inve…

Why is it that some companies suggest a larger box for Fart boxes then others recommend smaller boxes for Fart boxes? What's the difference? Why would a large box work for one sub and not another and vice versa?

I was thinking about to the standard square ports, but last night I thought about doing one, maybe two, larger round ports using PVC. Has anyone tried this. I was thinking something like 8" diameter ports, maybe two of them. Since it is going in a blowthrough, is it also okay to extend the ports out a little, maybe almost into the blowthrough to ensure more pressure from the port goes directly into the cabin of the truck.
