I have a Acura Integra Integra GSR, a ED 9.1 Amp, and a RL-P D4. I'm competing in the IASCA competition at the Nopi Nationals this year in Atlanta. I need help designing a box. People have told me I need a big box with alot of port area, and some people say I need a small box. So I'm confused and have no clue what to go with, I can't seem to find ANY information about any SPL box designs anywhere, out of a number of forums. If someone could help me, even with a roundabout guess of how big and how much port area I need, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I believe the resonant freq of my car is around 58 Hz, which I'm told is a good thing, I know how to tune the box and ever…

  6. I have two Sony explode 10's I got last year; I have them in 1.3cuft each sealed; I am in the process of moving, all the big tools are in storage, so I can't build a new box. I have some scrap wood laying around, and I want to knock out a wall of the box and combine it with another slightly smaller enclosure and port it; I hate scrapping it together, but these are my killing time subs, I just play with them to try ideas; anybody have any tips on making junk subs drop lower? I am not after a ton of output, it's for a computer speaker setup; just want real low extension. I am looking to get it tuned to 24hz, with -plenty- of port; does anyone have any idea what kind of air…

I started to build a new enclosure today. Gross interior is 12.5 X 53.5 X 7.5 bottom and 3.5 top, so 2.5 cubic feet gross. I am recessing the amp and the panel is 22.5 X 13.5 X .75 sunk 1.5 into the enclosure. There are (4) 1 X 2 X 55 and (4) 1 X 2 X 12.5 to account for and the displacement of the sub (RL-P) I think is .18. I want to tune this thing as low as possible (28-32 Hz) so dual 3" ports probably. How long do I make them?

  8. I've attached a picture of the panel I need to make a box to fit in. I would love to be able to mold the box outside of the car, but I'm concerned with the trunk panel folding over and not keeping its proper shape. What are my options?

Well, here we go, I've created this in an attempt to make a tool that can help take the guess work out of all the difficult to figure on a calculator values we constantly figure for box building. I think this is a decent tool and that it could work for alot of us. I'm putting it out here for all to try and give it some real world tests. Let me know if you guys find anything wrong with the sheet just let me know I'll do my best to fix it. So here ya go, we'll try this link out first just copy/paste: =http://www.mediafire.com/file/ugzuqj4mzjw/Box Calculator.xls=

I'm well aware of the complexity (or so it might seem for some) involved in creating a ported enclosure built to specs. I'm also aware of situations where different subs have been dropped right in to a ported box previously housing another sub and working well. With that being the case I was wondering how bad a prefab box like this one I stumbled across on ebay could possibly be. I'm absolutely prepaired to pay for a properly made custom box but was just curious a) if anyones had any experience and b) if this is just a COMPLETELY bad idea. Heres the link to a prefab 4 cu ft ported box tuned to 32 hz (almost exactly what I'd be getting custom made): 15" CUSTOM-PORTED MDF S…

I was wondering if you could have to ports on a enclosure and have each of them tuned differently, for example, one would be tuned to 30hz and the other to 35hz, would this enhance the sound or ruin it? I'm just curious.

After searching for a place to put my tweeters with no luck I've decided some custom fabrication must be done. I've never done anything like this. I plan to have some type of pod in the bottom of the a pillar ontop of the dash for the crescendo ft1 tweeters. What material should I use and how is it done? http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i38/snaimpally/Pod9.jpg Something like that.

I bought a x12 and have made the reccomended ported box for it. I def sounds amazing when the windows are down in my truck it gets really low. But its not really as loud as i want and most of my music just dosnt go that low.. The other thing is i have a pair of harrison soundlab external subsonic filters... And a pair of right angle adapters from radioshack.. Could these be lowering the signal to the amp and decreasing my out put? Any help would be great. Iv heard you can fill the box a little to raise the tuning frequency.. Idk the sf are at 30hzbtw

Hey guys. I just picked up a new RE SX 15. Its going to be powered by a Sundown 1500D in a '08 Scion xB. I need help designing the box though. RE calls for 3 cu ft minimum, 4 cu ft optimal, and I would like to tune for 32Hz, sub firing up. The sub displaces 0.18 cu ft. The dimensions I have to build the box are 38.5"x18.5"x19". The pictures below should help to visualize. If there is too much space there, I'd like to cut a couple inches off the height, and then if still too much room, a couple off the width (18.5"). Help needed! ~Trevor

Here is the car and the current sub : He's planning adding one more woofer and competing in espl, something similar to bass race (track chosen by the judges). Basically, I'm looking for some ideas on woofer and port orientation from the ones that have some spl experience Right now his top score is 144db @ 36hz, db-drag style, using a single 3kw Ground Zero 1.3000 and one 15inch 4hp clone by Ground Zero (Plutonium 15). Final gear will be 2 subs and 2 Atomic 5000.1's. What port and woofer orientation ideas do you guys have ? Even some tips would be really nice

Has anyone done one of these before ? I reciently picked up a eD e8a and I wanted to try it in one. I found a formula that seems fairly simple to follow. Build a box with 2 chambers, one at 3 cuft and the other one EXACTLY half of that, ie 1.5 cuft. Next cut 3 ports all IDENTICAL in length. Put one in the face of each chamber and the third in the wall separating the two chambers. In this instance each port would be either 12.5" long for a little deeper response or 8" long for a little more SPL. Now you have a box with a big chamber with a vent in it, a small chamber with a vent in it, and a third vent in the wall between the two. The woofer also mounts in the large chambe…

  20. Long story short, Everything is brand new. I have a 12 RE Sex that I built in a sealed box. The box was to big after I was done (1.66) so I packed the back wall with 2x4. Well after I had installed everything I had local shop try to tune the sub. They agreed it was missing the low and just had no balls. They suggested we use the same box and port it. Re specs for min port box is 1.5@35Hz. They said we could use the same box as it is 1.66 and they ported it using 3 inch pvc tube that was 7 inches long. It was night and day but I would like to get others opinions since I have put a lot of time and effort into redoing my entire audio setup. Here is my setup: Truck: 05 Ford F…

Are there any SQ comps that are regularly in NC? I see that a lot of you SQ guys are from VA, where do you usually compete? Any local organizations or the like? I have never competed before, so I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. While I'm at it, what are the different SQ classes, and their requirements?

  25. I am building an enclosure for my truck today. I will have 2.5^3 net before port behind my rear seat. I have a few different options available. I have a Rockford T1500.1 bd CP for power. I have already 6 Rockford P2 8"s, my plan was to do 4 ported. Would end up .5 each after port and all with a single 4" Aero Port. Would tune it around 29Hz Thoughts? Ideas?
