Looking for some help with an enclosure for a 15" xcon... I could go sealed but I need the help of you gurus to figure out how to get it ported Currently I have the Xcon in an enclosure that is roughly: 32" w x 17" h x 15" deep ... I have a 2016 Mazda3 hatch. My max dimensions for depth is 19.5" but that's only keeping a flat wall, I'm wondering what can be done about having the enclosure sort of follow the back of seats at the present angle. Like so but less aggressive of an angle obviously...: So my hopes for the enclosure are: 1. Ported - 6" PSP port 2. Max dimesnions would be W-26" H-20" D1(top side)-19" D2(bottom side)- about 2…

This is a WINisd plot of my final 3. It is comparing 3 ETHOS 12's against an EVIL 18 and a pair of ETHOS 15's. The ETHOS enclosures were taken directly from some of Quentin's suggestions, and the EVIL 18 was a shot in the dark based on my space limitations. How accurate is WINisd in calculating real world SPL? Based on the modeling an EVIL 18 equals three ETHOS 12's at peak tuning (hard to believe); the ETHOS 15's win all...The EVIL 18 is pitted against the three ETHOS 12's for SB2 class reasons, the pair of ETHOS 15's is for I don't give a damn what class I compete in reasons.

If you have two boxes at the same volume and say one had a 2" slot port width and the other had a 3.5" port width tuned to the same frequency would there be a difference? Would the 3.5" port allow you to feel the lows better than the 2" port but sound the same since they are tuned the same?

right now the wife drives a 01 accord coupe with a single RE REX12D4 off around 200 watts from a RF 300.1 in a 1.5ft^3 box tuned to 35Hz front firing right behind the back seat. would it hit the lows alot better or have more output if I were to replace it with a SRX15D4 in an infinite baffle setup off the same amp? I know Id probably end up lowering the gain seeing as that SRX might not even handle 200 watts in an IB setup. and another idea, what about just using the REX12 in an IB setup since its already in my possession?

My 12" ICON is coming in the mail today so I want to finalize a design before before having my buddy build it for me. What I want to know is if I have calculated everything correctly and will in fact end up with 2.3ft^3 at 32.5hz. Here's how I measured the port length. 19.2140 + 14.8723 + 1.375 = 35.312 The the12volt calculator says that this length gives me about 32.5hz. Did I design this correctly? Also, I just used the displacement listed on the product page which is .16. Does doing a double baffle affect this? Click here if you want to download my SketchUp design

Hey guys, I am gonna start a few projects and try and glass a few things, I want to put 2 8's on my rear deck and something upfront to put the tweets on the dash. I can't put them in the A-Pillars so I was going to put them in the corners of the dash and I want them to look clean. I was wondering what kind of resin and bonding agent? I think you mix the resin and something else before you put it on the fabric, I read about it a while ago and I will go over it again because I don't remember much. Just thought some of you guys would have some tips on how to do this... I've got some pretty good ideas to actually design it but I will touch back to see if it is plausible... …

I've got two of these but temporarily I want to see what one can do, I'll be running it off of 900wrms. Anyone want to design me a nice efficient box, tuned anywhere from 27-32 hz? Sub will have to be facing forward, aero ports preferred, 6" PVC pipe is what I'd like to use. Max dimensions (to keep it under window line) would be 54" length x 22" height x 15" depth.

i bought a rockford fosgate t1500bd amp and it says its subsonic filter is at 28hz. im buying an Xcon 15 wich says to tune (optimal) 27-34hz going to try putting it in the optimal box size of 4 cubes. ive heard that 33hz is the best tuning frequency all around. i listen to all types of music and i want more sq than spl. also heard that your supposed to tune the box about 2hz higher than the subsonic filter. (gives me tuning of 30hz) is that true? why or why not? what should i tune my box to?

My setup is 2 dd3512e sub and port facing the back. The port is in the center between the 2 sub. I seen some setup with 2 12's with subs and port facing back but the port is towards one end of the box and not the center. Is there any benefit to having the port on one end instead on the center, this would be in a trunk setup? Which would be louder?

Hey I am just wanting to clarify that this box design meets the specs that I was told. This is for "1" 15" Fi BTL. It was designed to have 4 cuft. tuned to 35Hz. (Calculations done by BKOLFO4) The box with a slot port will need to be 17" tall in front, 14" tall in the rear, 31" wide, and 23" deep. The slot port will be 12.5" x 4". You will run it into the box until it is 4" from the back wall, and then turn and go 2" parallel to the back wall. (Designed by BKOLFO4) Like this (note the port dimensions are internal dimensions): Thanks in advance, Curt

hey guys, I have recently purchased a 2006 subaru legacy 2.5i. my previous car i had 2 12 inch gcons on a sundown 1500 amp, a 6 cubic foot box that i sealed into the cabin. was wondering what would be effected if i were to seal the box instead of port it and still reverse the subs facing the cabin. so run a 3 cubic foot box sealed off from the trunk with the subs facing the cabin. i just am wondering if this would work. or if it would sound like shit. haha. i have the box designed to fit into the trunk so i can seal it off. I am trying to save space (i snowboard in the winter) roof racks can only carry boards. id have more than half the trunk left with the box ive designe…

alrighhtttyy guys.... i got a different build that i need some help with because i realized the two SPL15s had a slim chance of working out =[. I'm putting a ascendant audio mayhem 18" in the trunk of a 01 chrysler sebring sedan. The sub is going to be front firing and im just going to keep the back seats down (when i put them up for people to sit in them i will just cut the subs off). The trunk is pretty flat and the box should be pretty easy to load in from the car with the seats folded down. I have L29 x W34 x H18 to work with. for you who dont know a mayhem is essentially a loaded BTL.

144.3 in the middle of hte dash on the AC and i forgot to turn my bass knob all the way up, it was set to 3/4 it was on track 19...whic his 38Hz...wow. [email protected] also, the both doors and windows where closed, which isnt MECA style. my nuts where vibrating agianst the seat and my nose tickled really bad. so windows open and mic on the floor and bass knob al lthe way...145 on the AC shoundnt be a problem. and it was a new mic, or so says the owner, so it was still a little stiff, the highest hit on it so far was 149.5 and he geussed mine to be 140dB and hte pansy guy that sat i nthe passenger seat started plugging his ears at 141dB...i tried to talk to him and a…

I have spent the last few weeks playing with the orientation of my sealed subwoofer box in my trunk and found the best orientation (to my ears anyway) I am now designing a ported box and was wondering if the optimal orientation will change sealed vs ported? Here is the current orientation:

Internal dimensions: 15" d 34" w 10" h Port: 10" h 3" w 30" l Sub displacement .1 cuft Subs up, port sideways 2.1cuft after sub and port displacement Leaving .1 for 45s, so 2 cubes net Tuning guesstimate: 33-34 Hz Side note: I would like to figure out how to calculate neccesary port area by the parameters of the sub, not by the 12-16 square inches per cuft rule, might use areos if someone has a suggestion.

Ok, well I just got a newer vehicle (2001 chevy tahoe). After spending my limit to upgrade my substage, I had my alpine 9831 from about 2-3 years ago die on me. I am thinking I'll get a cda-9887 to replace is since it will be pretty much a drop in change, and I can save some of my older cables. I'm really not that happy with the eq it has, so I'm considering adding one in there. I've never done this before, and while I've been researching it everyone has a different opinion as to what I should look for, so any suggestions will be appreciated. I have been considering adding 2 sets of 6.5 components up front, so I can keep my factory look without a large pod sticking out f…
