Always been run at 1 ohm. I was using a saz3500v1. when I built that box and tuned it. I recently bought a B2 M1s to run on these subs. 7500w @ 1ohm. with the power increase I was looking for any help with what the new box would require as far as net volume. Not really sure where to post this but in my 30 yrs experience I've never seen anything like this and thought I'd share. I bought my 16 yr old daughter a beat down Toyota Avalon for her first car. It's got a junker JVC head works but the sound was extremely anemic. I popped the trunk thinking a cheap set of 6x9's would be a quick fix but these cars never had rear deck speakers. Well shit, I'm pullin door panels. That's when I saw them. ABS ported enclosures? Harmon made? The factory speakers were trashed, foam surrounds completely gone but I was intrigued. I grabbed a set of 4"ers, went to install and found out they're 4 1/2" holes. Cant really open the fronts up …

Hi guys, I drive an SUV for the first time, with enough of trunk space (for the first time of my life) ! It's a Mazda CX-5 (2.2 l diesel with 150 hp) : I love it hopefully :-) :-) I will use my Zcon 15" on an IA20.1 amplifier. I think I'll do sub up. But how to put the port ? Port up or port to the rear ? How much room is necessary between the port and the rear hatch ? Is there a maximum ? If I put it firing back, what would be good and why ? Port standing on a side of the back panel of the box, or laying down on all the width ? I see both scenarii for SUV generally. I'll take some mesurements later. I think I can easily run my sub in a 4ft3 net enclosure, in this…

  4. Hi everyone, first time poster on this forum. Posting all the way from Australia. Okay, So I'm in the planning stage for a system in the new car, and I've just started doing up some rough design/placement ideas on Inventor, when I ran in to a problem. I'm designing this for a Fi Q12 ported, and I know the recommended enclosure sizes given by Fi of 1.8-2.5 cf @ 28-33Hz. However, that is quite a large margin of variation for a recommended enclosure volume (0.7 cf and 5Hz tuning frequency can affect the sound a fair bit). As I'm not a massive fan of guessing/speculating about the best enclosure volume, I decided to pull out the calculator and the old loudspeaker design c…

  6. Hey guys, Currently in the works of trying to figure out a box that will work with my Zv4. Here's some info: - Going in a 2000 f150 ext cab in place of the smaller rear seat.- Using my Saz-2000D amp- Sundown Zv4 12, suggested 2.25-2.75 cu ft- Wanting tuning around 30hz-32hz- Max Dem: W: 17 | D: 18 | H: 26 or so |- Would prefer sub to fire upwards.- I love rap music and bass heavy electronic similar to white clouds from decaf or lights from bassnectar. Here's my original box and design: http://imgur.com/a/WqOOl No sure how well it'll work and if there's enough port area. So here's another very similar box with a couple small changes that move me from 14.85 sq inch…

  7. I am building an enclosure for my truck today. I will have 2.5^3 net before port behind my rear seat. I have a few different options available. I have a Rockford T1500.1 bd CP for power. I have already 6 Rockford P2 8"s, my plan was to do 4 ported. Would end up .5 each after port and all with a single 4" Aero Port. Would tune it around 29Hz Thoughts? Ideas?

never heard or owned a 4th order, but id like to spend weekend building one for my sundown x10. Can anyone help me out with this? maybe help me with some designs or advice. i have it in a 1.6 cube slot ported box tuned at 34hz. sealed off from trunk firing into cabin. for my tastes it is not tuned low enough, i was going to snatch everything out and go with a 2 cube box at 30hz. but ive been reading about 4th orders and im really interested in them now. would a 4th be ok for a daily with this sub? goes in dodge charger so i have plenty of trunk space, and can provide max deminisons if needed. i also have the sub specs if it helps. ive read to go with the 2:1 ratio with …

  9. Hello, I have 3x SSA DCON's in a box that I handmade from a design from a member here. I recently bought a new SUV and the box will not fit. The box is too wide by 1 inch. The inside area of the port now is 14 3/8" X 7 1/2" ....if I cut 1 inch off of the port then the new port would be 14 3/8" X 6 1/2". Would this change the sound of the subs a lot or would it be ok to do this ? Thanks in advance for any help.

This is my first go at trying to design a ported box so just want to make sure I got the numbers right. This is for a coworker. The sub is a DD 9515. According to their site it should be 3 cu with 48"^2 of port. Here's what I came up with: 24" x 22" x 15" and the port 3 9/16" x 13 1/2". If I follow the "rules" and make it 20" long it'll be 38ish tune. I appreciate any input you can give. 15" height is to keep it under the window line and cannot be modified. Other than that any suggestions welcome!

  12. Hello everyone. I am redesigning my enclosure for my 15" ethos for different mounting options. When I use the Torres calculator I am using the total net feature with 3 cu ft and also 3 common walls since it is a slot port. Using a port that is 4x18.5 at 56" long gives me a tuning of 31.94 hz and 74 in2 of port. Then when I use the same size port in the carstereo.com calculator it tells me 48.5" of length is required to give me 32hz tuning. So my question is which one should I use. In sketch up I am designing the port by measuring down the center. Thank you in advance for the help.

Box will be for 2 18 inch DSS Ethos powered by a Soundqubed 3500.1 5cft net for each sub tuned to 32 hertz. I wanna do Subs Up Port back and havent decided if i want to go with aeros or a traditional slot port design. Which would be easier for a first time box builder? Included some photos of "my hoe". OK, So I recently aquired a 1996 jeep grand cherokee and am in the planning phase of the project. I am looking at running a 3:1 ratio 4th order with either 4 15" or 18" drivers. The issue I am running into is that I am concerned that the box height will end up too low to mount the drivers on a flat baffle. With this being said I was wondering if anyone has toyed around with angled baffles. With this setup I was going to do a driver's side port and tune around 45-50hz. Would this be too much of a hassle and prove to be a nightmare, or should I try to use a more upward firing baffle to fit the 4 drivers (similar to watt's truck but larger and drivers stacked in a 2x2 …

so in torres i put a 23.5" length into the calcs. this gives me a 35.07hz tune with a port dimension of 23.5X4.75" and 7.07 cubic. the physical port length is 17.25 according to torres. i need to verify what my port actually is and i feel a bit confused by the measuring. if i measure the port down teh center wich is how i understand the correct measurement to me then i get 20 and 3/8" in length, then i measure horizontally to the inside of the MDF sheet wich is 3 and 1/8". so that makes the port 23.5" long down the center. if i measure on the face of the wood itself i get 18.75" long and accounting for 3/4" thickness of the port itself. on top of that it makes it 2.375…

Currently running my 12" ICON in a 1.35 cu ft sealed enclosure. The car is a hatchback. While the sub itself sounds clean and puts out decent volume, I'm often wishing it hit the lower notes a bit better and was louder. Is anyone able to help me design a ported enclosure for this sub? I'm trying to keep the footprint of the enclosure as small as possible, but I understand it'll take more space than the sealed setup currently. This is the current setup: Untitled by riored4v, on Flickr Regarding the height, i can't really go much taller since this still allows me to use my hatch cover to keep everything out of eye sight. Its at 13.5" tall. Any help would be ap…

I am trying different boxes until I can get another xcon and have no experience with 4th order builds. It will be a 98 mustang trunk wall. If there are any details you need let me know as I have no knowledge of 4th order designs. Thank you to anybody who helps.
