Does anyone have experience with sub tunnels(diamond, hexagon, octagon) or manifold style boxes? I was wondering how they are for spl at low frequencies 25 to 30 hz(compared to a straight wall)?

I was doing a dry build of sub enclosure yesterday and I decided to see how the kreg jig would work on some scraps. I wasn't able to find a bit long enough and small enough to pre drill and the wood split. My question is can I use"L" brackets instead and how good would they work? Second question what sealer to use? I'm not going to be able to seal the top panel because I will have to put my subs in when I put the front baffles on and I will not be able to get to the top inside corners what should I do?

Hi I am starting my build very shortly and I have a question on making the sub box. I have made L slot port boxes before but for my 2 12" Fi SSDs I want to make the port in the middle. So the question I have is can I make it by just calculating for 1 of the subs and just build it together? Space is not an issue. Thanks ahead for all the input

  6. I am tryin to work out a box plan for 2 18" Fi Q's, the box i am plannin will really be 2 seperate boxes. 1 for each 18 then bolted togather, then trim paneled in to look like 1 box. Doing 2 boxes to make it easier to pull the boxes in and out(I am a 1 man build crew) of the van(2000 Gmc safari). Here is what i came up with from RE's web site. Each box will be 25" wide by 34" inches deep by 21" tall wood thickness will be 3/4 inch mdf, port width will be 4.5 port height will be 19.5 and the lenght will be 28.75 to give me a box that is tuned at 28.18Hrz and gives me 6.766 ft of airpace. Do you guy think this box will be ok for everyday driving, I am looking for good …

I'm going to build a box for a Fi Bl 15 that needs to fit against the angle of the seats in the cargo area of my 4runner. I want it to be ported and tuned to about 33-34 htz, but i'm having trouble finding out how to tune the box with the angled back on the box. I was wondering if anybody knows of any online programs or calculators that would tell me what size the port should be in the box to get it tuned right. Thanks for any help.

a box's internal dimensions - 10.5" high 35.5" wide 20" deep If i put a port in it width-wise, slot port along the wall, 10.5" high x 4" wide, and run it across and leave a 4" gap from the wall resulting in port length being 31.5" long + 0.75" for wood thickness exiting box... When i calculate port displacement, do i find the cubic volume of 10.5" x 4.75"(plus thickness of wood) x 31.5" or 10.5" x 4.75" by 35.5" ? Do i take into account the effective area around the port too? because if i do then i would choose the 2nd option above as part of the displacement.

If you run the port externally, does it take up space or add to space inside the enclosure. Same idea as inverting your subs, they still take up space inside the enclosure, correct? Thanks

  13. Hello, I have 3x SSA DCON's in a box that I handmade from a design from a member here. I recently bought a new SUV and the box will not fit. The box is too wide by 1 inch. The inside area of the port now is 14 3/8" X 7 1/2" ....if I cut 1 inch off of the port then the new port would be 14 3/8" X 6 1/2". Would this change the sound of the subs a lot or would it be ok to do this ? Thanks in advance for any help.

so I just took everything out of my trunk. which also includes the rug and spare tire. I'm not putting the tire back since I can't get it out when everything is in. so my question is should I put the rug back in? I thought I read somewhere rugs are bad for spl. thanks.

So after seeing the new box I built for my future DCON's (ordered over two weeks ago) a freind of mine has recruited me to build him a box for a single old school (2001) Kicker c12vr. He wants a SQ build and could care less about output. The only problem I am seeing is that I can'ft find any specs on the sub. The manual I found for it is a little light on the T/S parameters so winISD isn't too helpful. So my question is, If I run a standard 2cuft box tuned to 32hz(seems to be a standard), would that have a somewhat flat responce curve(ignoring cabin gain and all that)? It seems to be a tried and proven tuning so If I strive for that, and being that he is new into car aud…

Has anyone ever used it? How does it work? Is it worth $17. I want to spray the inside and possibly outside of my sub box with it but I don't know if it is worth it. Should I just get some spray on bedliner in a can and use that instead? I was hoping it would created a better seal and add strength to the box.

The plastic that holds all of the controls for the windows and doors seems to rattle a bit, any ideas on how to stop it? I was thinking some type of small felt tape that you can find at hardware stores.

So i've read on numerous threads that the RE box calculator tunes a tad bit high. Personally, i'm a noob when it comes to making boxes so this RE calculator is just a great tool!! I use it mixed with Win Isd to make my box! i just really wish win isd had a slot port option So for people like me, and many other box designing noobs the RE calculator is awesome!! Its free, easy to use, you can see what changing port dimensions do to your tuning. So, does the Re calculator ALWAYS tune high? is it the same everytime? I'm curious because i'm desiging, or trying to, a box for my friend for his first gen 15" icon which i purchased for him. Also, on a side note, when designing…
