Just got my first pictures of the first completed prototype of the new SAZ-1500D v.3 model... so the cat is out of the bag on this one! As the model that got us started it is only appropriate that it is the first model to be shown in the 2012 trim! Newly tooled 2012 casing -- you can still tell it IS a Sundown amp but it is a refresher and also narrower. The FETs are mounted at a 45 degree angle to shrink the width AND avoid spring clips (which I've never liked). So we are getting the best of both worlds on that. * Fully custom tooled boards for all of our new 2012 models complete with fans. More photos to come as I get the other models done! Yes... you do see 16 power s…

So the single SA-8 v.2 has been doing great for quite a while with the PSI PR but now that production is in and all pre-orders have shipped I decided I wanted to step it up a bit to THREE of them. Derrick came up today and put together a nice box for me for the three 8s using a single 6" aero-port about 28" long or so tuning us in the low 30s. Box is constructed of a single layer of 3/4" Russian Birch plywood. * Yep... that is a LONG port. * Inside view -- just a basic box with all the giant motors hanging out. * Sealed with a bit of silicone. As we may be tweaking some more I just ran the wires through the port for the time being. * In the car. * Bit close to the…

Was bored so I was designing a new amp rack and then shifted over to making the amp look realistic. NO it is not exact to measurements of the amp, and I don't think I have the patience for that, well I might. Anyway it's 80% done, I have 1 more logo to add to it, and finish the RCA side of the amplifier.

My box turned out to be a tad bigger then i wanted it too. But it's right around 6.92 cubes after sub displacement. It will be mainly for street beat/bass race/daily. Amp is an IA 40.1 @ .7ohm. My question is how many 6" aero's should i use? I have 3 total but was wondering if 3 6's would be too much..

ok i have 2 nightshade V2 D1s and as far as i can remember my coils always sat at pretty much even 1 with a variance of .1 or so ... so in series they would be at 2 ohms per sub... then of course paralleled to 1 ohm at the amp ... well today i was out testing some new songs.. and my subs never get hot .. but today i heated them.. and when i was done playing i checked my temperature of the dust caps and they were both pretty hot.. 1 being hotter then the other... no problem the shades are beast they can take a little heat... so after that i went to the store, then on the way home i played my stereo again .. but it was not as loud... first thought shit.. i burned …

This is a video that my good friend the RattRodder did of the old setup in the KIA. No, the subs are not out of phase. One of my rca cables male end was broken and was working intermittently. Enjoy. http://youtu.be/Z3Oyw1g9XHI

So while my car was in the shop for near a month I made a new enclosure. I also made a big math error on the width. Meh we are all human, so instead of just junking it, I decided to recycle it and make a newer box with a 6" aero port. Here is what the box started out as. And here are some of the steps in recycling it to a new enclosure. And here it is prior to being loaded in the car. And here it is in the hatch. The low bass response is much greater with this box. Here is a quick video I did in the driveway, I may do more just gotta find a spot where I don't piss off all the neighbors.

I have been holding out opening this to make sure they won't take as long to make this time. The good news is they didn't as our special rectifiers are now in stock at our factory and production finishes next week. So this puts delivery time about 4-5 weeks from now. As of now I still have quite a few to go around but that could change at any time as I have had inquiries about some LARGE builds with these amps. $1500 pre-order price shipped in continental USA AK or HI add $100 for SH ($1600 total) USA ONLY. For international talk to your distributor. You can PAYPAL me at [email protected] or talk to you favorite local or online dealer to pre-order. These WILL NOT …

The frame renderings themselves are not ready to be shared yet but the cone body and surrounds are ready. Each surround has the following calculated geometric capacity : 10 -- 50mm one-way (frame allows 45) 12 -- 55mm one-way (frame allows 50) 15 -- 60mm one-way (frame allows 55) Therefore; each one has a 5mm cushion beyond what the frame can handle in it so the surround CANNOT reach the maximum geometric limit -- as this can cause stress and eventually tear the surround. We've taken note that no open tool / readily available surround can handle what some of our newer designs can dish out already... and future designs will be even more extreme on throw so these surrounds …

Gotta say that Sundown has their shit together. Not only are their products top in the business but their customer service is outstanding! Tuesday morning I emailed Sundown about a used basket and a t-shirt. A couple hours later my email was replied to and a few more emails later, within an hour, my swag was ordered. I received my order today, three days after ordering Thanks Sundown! I will also add that I requested a little something special added to my Z.3 that I ordered a couple weeks ago. Without hesitation Sundown complied. A lot of companies ship straight from a build house without personally testing or even seeing the product they sell, not Sundown!

I haven't been able to find a good post detailing the differences and improvements between the V1 and V1.5 SA8. If Jacob or someone else that knows could post up I'd appreciate it. Also is the motor the same on all SA8 v1/v1.5? I've seen two different basket styles. Can they be run together? I'm getting some old SA8 v1 motors and need some info. I've emailed Jacob as well, so if I get info from him I'll post it here.

I am picking up 3 SA8 motors and would like get some baskets and recones for them. I'm wondering what my options are, since I've seen v1 and v1.5. I'll be running these off an saz-1500d in a town car with a 240 amp alt, deka starting battery, deka 9a31 in the trunk, big 3, 1/0 wiring throughout etc... I want to wire these to .66 and want to know how big of a box I should go with and how much port area I need. This will be a daily driver, and will be turned down most of the time. I was thinking 2 cu ft net tuned to 34 with 30-35 sq in of port area. I looked in another thread and the recones were listed as $32 and baskets were $10, let me know if those prices are still goo…
