I should be able to wire up my 100.2 to the RL-i8 DVC 4 in the next few days, and I just wanted to make sure I understand all of my options. When I was talking to denim about the 100.2, I think he mentioned that I could bridge it and then wire the RL-i8 in series at 8 ohm. He says the 100.2 pushes out more than it's rated for (500W bridged?). Even at 8 ohms, 250W should be enough to drive the sub for daily SQ use. Unless I'm mistaken, shouldn't I also be able to wire it in parallel at 2 ohms for the full 400-500W? I would just as soon leave it in series and let the amp run cooler, providing it can push the sub adequately, but I wouldn't mind trying the higher output j…

I see that the 1500D have 2 sets of speaker outputs. So the easiest way is to get dual 2 ohm, hook it up in parallel, then the internal are bridge for a final 1 ohm load. What if I were to go with dual 1 ohm (1 sub) wire it in series = 2 ohm, then bridge the connection to the amp, will i get a final load of 1 ohm? I can't tell from the manual if the external outputs are bridgeable. Please confirm. Thanks!

Hi all, I've just installed my new amp : a saz 1500. I had the saz1000 on my 15" xcon. I did it this past week end, so I could not buy what I needed. I used the distribution block I already had. I have a 0 ga wire coming from the under hood battery to the trunk, and coming trough a dist block with 3 "out" : 1 for the sax50.4 amp with a 60amp fuse and the 2 others are now used for the saz1500 with a 80 amp fuse for each wire. So, I have 2 4ga wires that goes into the bass amp instead of one 0ga from the dist block to the amp. Is it safe ? I did not change the ground wire from 4 ga to 0ga, but I will do it today because it might not be safe at all now! Is it worth changi…

K got my saz-1000d today. Now I know on other amps to get the most out of it you need to bridge the 2 channels. Now on this amp do I need to do the same? I noticed it doesnt have it printed on the amp. You know what I mean. Pos of 1 channel and neg of 2nd channel. I have it wired to a 15 fi Q with bp option in a sealed box. sub is wired amp pos to 1 side then bridged over to the the other pos. same for neg. I think this presents a 1 ohm load to the amp.

Well I got a trophy for loudest at the show! Contest was your 30 second average score on music (if that makes sense). I did a 145 flat average 30 seconds. I burped a 148 at 46hz. But that was after beating them ALL DAY long. System consisted of 2 Sundown 1500ds. 2 15" Fully loaded Fi Bl's wired to 1ohm each

I am building a competition van for a customer and it will have either 16 XS Power D3100s or 20 2400s (working on sponsorship), 4 Kicker Warhorse amps, and a deck mounted in rear for burps with a audio control line driver (8v). This will be walled off and strictly for Competition use only and tuned around 70HZ. The customer wants to go with Kicker Solo X 18s but I am currently trying to get him into Sundown Nightshade V2 18s. There will be 4 subs and each one will be hooked up to one warhorse at full power (approx 10k rms each sub). In the van already i have deadened the cabin (this is only modification allowed in front of B-Pillar in USACI Modfified Division), ran 2 4/0 …

Quick help needed please... I have a 2.35 cubic foot enclosure for 4 E8's powered by an SAE 1200. I'm going to use a 6" port, can't make my mind what to tune it to 30-35 hz. Is a 6" port, 28.26 sqare inches to much port area for this combo? I see people using a single 6" port for up to 4 cubes. I'm a little worried about the subs unloading and damaging the suspension.

Hey guys, We are back-logged for a bit on woofer building here. The Z v.2 shipment landed last week and we have been SLAMMED ever since. We also sold the last stack of BM 10s to a customer and have been working to get those out to him. So... expect a bit longer lead time to get a sub if you order one we have to build. I plan to work late this week to catch up as fast as possible.

I am working on a line for those with depth restrictions -- NOT a true shallow woofer but something that just isn't super deep as most of our drivers are big, nasty, deep woofers. The ultra-shallow market is not something we plan to get into but I thought something shallower than the SA line would be nice. Our future "E" series line with stamped frame was not designed as a reduced depth driver either so we would have left this market totally untouched. SD-2 10" -- 4 7/8" Depth SD-2 12" -- 5 3/8" Depth These will fit many under-seat truck enclosure applications. We had an SD-1 and SD-1 v.2 series some time back that were very popular in the truck market... so naturally the…

Sent in my design specs to the factory today for an SA-8 driver. Will move down to a 2" coil, though, so we can fit the proper spider on the frame. Coil will be 33% longer than the E8 coil and will feature all of the SA-12 cooling features. Frame will be 12-spoke rather than 4-spoke as it works better in the 8" size. May have pics in a few weeks Motor dimensions are similar to SA-12 except for it is narrower to more easily fit into an 8" woofer cut-out. Power rating 400-500 watts RMS. As for the X8... I may start from scratch on it due to the difficulties of using a 2.5" coil on an 8" driver.

So... around the end of the year the SAX-100.4 will be improved yet again - we are always working to improve here at Sundown Audio! The SAX-100.4 is receiving it's fourth revision since it's release. A little SAX-100.4 history: SAX-100.4 -- Original model SAX-100.4B -- Updated crossover ranges SAX-100.4C -- Upgraded from 50-amp to 70-amp power supply transistors SAX-100.4D -- This is the topic of this thread The following functionality will be had with the crossovers: ALL CHANNELS: Subsonic @ 10 Hz - 500 Hz HPF @ 50 Hz - 500 Hz w/ x10 switch (becoming 24dB slope) LPF @ 50 Hz - 500 Hz w/ x10 button (selectable 12dB / 24dB) So, there will be almost no limits on the crossove…

Well guys, after getting haggled so bad at the last FX comp, I decided I needed to do something different for this comp. A 140 is not sufficient for 2 12's and 2 1500D's. I had 3 issues I needed to fix... 1. I was running a single run of 4 ga for 2 1500D's...Obviously a HUGE bottleneck on the amps. Now have a run of 1/0 per 1500D. 2. I had a prefab box which we tossed in the Cavi trunk to hold us out for the day...chit box, will have a newly designed box for this one, maybe a version of "CRX style". 3. For some reason the final load on the subs last time was 3.5 ohms (dual 2 subs). We didnt have time to check it, so we put it in a let it go. Discovered that one of th…

Had to do some work on my system, my MDF speaker mounts had rotted away in my doors, so while I had the car apart replacing them, I decided to also install the SAX 1000D I had bought a year or so ago, and hadn't yet gotten around to putting in my system. This was to replace the Alpine MRV T-505 that I had been using as a sunb amp. Wow, the difference in bass output is amazing, this is almost too much bass. I don't want my car to sound like the typical boom thump that you'll hear in just about every town in America, but right now it does. Bass just completely overwhelms the satellites, even with my bass settings on the radio set at -6. I've got gain at about 60%, not su…

Well first off I have to say thanks to James and Jacob for the great work they have done and the products they have given me access to that I would not have been aware of... Firstly, Here are some new toys... Here are a few pics of the stuff roughly installed with no clean up of the wires. I will take better pictures once it clears up outside and I can getter better angles. Showing how the box contours to the seat... Other side of the box with the 60% of the rear seat down... Showing driver side of box and its contour like the seat. Clearance under the seats... Anyways on to initial thoughts.... Ohh My are these nice... Just had the 250.2 hooked up to the CDTs gai…

So, I got my second 1000D in today. I took it straight to the truck. Hooked it up, I had them ran strapped at 2 ohm. The woofers are D2's, which were ran in parallel in the box then ran in series out side the box, bringing the total to 2 ohm. I only use the left side of the speaker connectors next to the 8awg. It worked fine, sounded good, was loud and voltage was fine. I THEN, tried to re-wire the subs. I wired them in series in the box, so each woofer went up to 4ohm, I then ran each one to the amps. I thought that it would end up bringing the ohm load to 2 ohm, so each amp would see 1ohm. When ran like this, they weren't as loud and voltage DROPPED. Horribly I wired …

Production on the X series is wrapping up; photos below! Production T/S spec will be coming in soon as well -- likely before the end of this week. Z v.4 production should complete fairly soon as well; we had some delay on the voice coils as the flat wire is imported from Denmark for those coils. Either way X and Z v.4 ETA should be within a few weeks of the original end of June time frame. ---------- Photos of the packaging inside of each directory; those images are pretty large (3MB each) so I didn't link them direct in the post. ---------- X-10 : Index of /misc/protos/X_Series_1250/Production Photos/X10 ----- X-12 : Index of /misc/protos/X_Series_12…

So I have been browsing several different subs the last few weeks to go with my Sae-1200d. This sub seems like it might be right up my alley, But I am wondering when it will be available, and the price point?
