Sundown Audio

I'm about to order a PSI Platform 1 and I want to run it with my Sundown 1000D. On the PSI website it gives you the option to bump it up to 1000 Rms and to change the ohm to 1 and to run 8 gauge wire straight from the speaker and so on. Before I order I want to know how I am going to get the best results. Order the dual 1 ohm? Go 1000 RMS or stay at 750? Go with the 8 gauge as the speaker wire etc. I have 4 gauge power and ground for my alpine also. Do I need to change that? Do I need a extra battery or alternator? Any help would be great. I want to order this sub asap and it's killing me.

Ordered the 2nd SD to run strapped and power an HD315, but I picked up another HD for CHEAP. Sat on it for a week and decided I needed to fit them both in the trunk of my Altima. Install wasn't as extreme as I thought it would be and came out pretty nicely. Only vibration/rattle left to fix is the rearview mirror. Filled it with Great Stuff, but now the metal arms are squeaking. Otherwise car has over 150#'s of deadener. Here's the "dirty" side of the install. Box is painted white and I planned on leaving it ugly, but it got pretty scuffed up during the install and I had some scraps of black carpet, so I covered most of it. Amps are strapped @1.5ohms and power 2 HD315's…

The amp blew some fuses. I replaced them and the amp works fine on the 10 minute drive home. I was at a football game doing a promotion with a radio station. The car and amp was on for about three hours. On the way leaving the game, it played fine for about 30 seconds, and my sub (Fi.Q 15 D2) suddenly stopped working. Checked the amp and it was just completely off. Would the prolonged playing time have something to do with it?I just want to know why this happen and make sure it doesn't happen again.

    * 149.5 TL Score on the dash, legal * Free air testing after the build We build this sub for a low Fs for a special application to try it out... Fs was 31 Hz after very little break-in so I expect it to settle around 28 Hz or so, dead on with what our goal was. Still did quite well in the Jeep despite being optimized for another application!

Hey guys, I'm new here.....thought I would come ask the experts. Well I recently purchased a barely used 1500D. Previously I ran an mrd-m501 for about 2 years to 2 12" R's, then I swapped it out for the saz, running it at 2 ohms. alls I did was swap the wires. the 1500D worked flawlessly for about 2 weeks, then all of a sudden today it got protection happy. my electrical is stock 105amp alt. stock batt. with 4 gauge wiring. It was fairly hot today, +35*C......so when it kicked into protection the 1st time I pulled over, checked the connections, turned it back on and it worked. the 2nd time it kicked into protect it wouldnt go back on I turned everything off except the a…

I'm in need of a sub and amp for a 2011 VW Golf I just picked up. After reading through various reviews I was almost dead set on an Alpine Type R 8". Then I started reading about the SA-8 D4 and how much everyone seems to love them and they trump the Type R's. Here is what I'm after. Small sub that can blend nicely with the stock system but also pound based on what I'm listening to. I listen to audio books (hey, I've got a long commute and it helps ease the road rage) and any type of music, be it country, rap, rock, metal, pop etc... I have $300 to spend on a sub/amp combo. I've already got the MDF to make the sealed box. Size will be somewhere around .45 - .65. SA-…

I started running my Sundown 3000 at .5 ohms a little over a week ago, and I figured I'd share my experience with performance in regards to temp of the amp. Subs: 2 dual 2 ohm audiopulse axis wired down to .5 Electrical: 200 amp alt, one kinetik 1800 under the hood and one kinetik 1800 in the trunk. Sealed box, 2 cubes per sub, impedence rises over 1 ohm at 18 hz and doesnt drop below 1.1 ohms after that. Gains on the amp are set with 50volume on the deck as max Before started I took the temp of the amp it was 62 F I started playin music on volume 40 for 8 minutes, then I turned it up to 50 for 13 minutes. Total test time 21 mins. I measured the temp of the amp again: The…

Decided to finally get started on it. The Jeep will be getting a no-wall 4th order build with two 15s. * Battery / Amp Rack area cleaned out... everything un-installed. My multi-channels will sit on those two little platforms where the batteries used to be. * New floor piece cut - everything will attach to this piece. * Of course XS Power D1600s will be used --- That is all for now... just ripped it all out this morning and Brandon helped me cut out the floor piece. Will make progress when time allows.

Ok I've been having trouble with my amp shutting off and on when I would have a song with deep bass or I would turn my bass remote up with a song with less bass. I knew it was an electrical issue with my battery so I got it recharged when the system wouldn't come on (This was after about 8 months of play). My system played fine no problem after the battery was charged. So I got in the next day and b4 i could turn my radio up (The radio was only at 6 at the time) the bass came on and then it cut off and never came on. So I checked the amp to see if the red protection light was on. It wasn't only the green light was on. So I figured it was the battery again but I question t…

  21. The frame renderings themselves are not ready to be shared yet but the cone body and surrounds are ready. Each surround has the following calculated geometric capacity : 10 -- 50mm one-way (frame allows 45) 12 -- 55mm one-way (frame allows 50) 15 -- 60mm one-way (frame allows 55) Therefore; each one has a 5mm cushion beyond what the frame can handle in it so the surround CANNOT reach the maximum geometric limit -- as this can cause stress and eventually tear the surround. We've taken note that no open tool / readily available surround can handle what some of our newer designs can dish out already... and future designs will be even more extreme on throw so these surrounds …

  23. So our warehouse is fairly empty right now -- but we have all sorts of inventory coming into stock within the next two weeks or so! We are working hard to prepare for it as there will be a TON of shipping going on. Hopefully the Holiday season doesn't delay delivery for too many folks who put in pre-orders -- I think it will probably take us a full 5 or 6 work days to get all of the pre-orders out to everyone once everything arrives; I am planning to work late as well during those days to speed it up as much as possible... currently expecting our shipments to be in around December 12th to 15th (of course this could change but we'll keep you guys up to date). Most of the S…

Here it is! Super small little amp Without mounting feet included the new amps are sized as follows : SAZ-1500D: 8.30” x 2.32” x 16.53” SAX-125.4: 8.30” x 2.32” x 11.02” Factory tested power as follows @ 1 % : 138x4 at 4 203x4 at 2 438x2 at 4 I'll be pretty busy for at least a few days but I will get my testing as soon as possible. On to the photos with the 1500D v.3 and the 100.4D revision : * Hard to tell but there are small holes in the board on the right for the fan on the opposite side of the board to breathe. * 1500D v.3 and the 125.4 together * WOW * 99% of the crossovers... only lacking the 12/24dB slop switch. Fixed at 24 dB now.
