Maybe I should run multiple smaller amps instead of 1 large amp. So instead of a 3000, maybe 2 1500's. I am liking the idea of it, more wiring options. What do yall think?

Basically, I have just bought two (more) ReSponse 1500 watt amps, same board as the SAZ-1500. These amps are protection happy at 0.5ohm per amp, which puzzles me, as I have used two others in the past, (one borrowed, one mine) that happily played everything, wired at 0.5ohm daily... Does anyone have the schematic of the protection circuit in the sundown amp? so I can potentially compare values, or possibly someone can point me in the direction of what components may need to be changed? thanks!

Well at the last comp. at Sound Check we decided to through all of my equipment in my buddy Coopers explorer because I have a little Pontiac Grand AM. Before we took everything out of his explorer we had got it to a 150.6 @ 35hz with 3 sundown SAZ-1500d's and 3 15" mojos. Well it was my turn to compete so we pute 1 12" SI Mag in my car with 1 sundown 1500d and went to the comp at Buds to see what I could do. I was in class 1B which is 1-160 sq in of cone area and 501 watts and up. I took first place with a 144.7 (which was really funny cause the JL rep. was calling my amp a mut and I was the second loudest car at the comp next to a van with a wall of 6 15's and 6 1200 wa…

I calibrated and tested this neo oddball with a WT3 woofer tester; jacob or anyone knowledgeable; do these specs look alright; and to any bandpass enthusiast, does the box have any flaws I should be careful of falling into. Okay I am buying my Christmas present a little early. I have a 1997 Toyota Camry. I use a Pioneer DVD H/U and I have 1/0 ga. KnuKonceptz wiring and I am looking at running the Sundown Audio SAZ-3000D on (2) 12" Fi Audio BL's with the cooling option. This will be a daily driver and I want to hunt down a JL Audio guy, will this do the trick? I listen to just about anything but I still have my DJ Magic Mike and Techmaster PEB CD's. I do have an additional battery in the trunk and upgrading the alternator won't be a problem. Please help!

so i was thinking of 2 saz-3000d as well as the 100.4... this is for daily ... if i have it strapped for 1 ohm (each amp at .5 ohm) and i tune it with an oscilloscope is this still a bad idea? ... wouldnt the nominal resisitance rise up to over 1 ohm anyway so it would be safe? ... what do you recommend as far as total aH (jake i forgot what you said lol) and how many strands of 1/0 will suffice to the rear (approx 15 ft from front to back battery bank)?

Well i bought a few Nightshade v.1 motors from jacobs yardsale a week or so ago. when they arrived there were still cones in place. i checked coils and one of the subs still read good. so i decided to put some power to it. It made music but sounded horrible but seemed to work ok. I bought these to resize/recone and figured neither sub would work, but. 1) 12' blown junkyard nightshade v.1 1) box that leaks and is about 2.5 times too big for the sub. (was made for 3 sa-10s) i re-baffled it to make the show 1) sundown 3k 1) Truck that is notorious for not getting loud. My 4x sa-8s do a best of 143 on music. I took 1st in Streetbeat 1 I slapped this together at the last minut…

The frame renderings themselves are not ready to be shared yet but the cone body and surrounds are ready. Each surround has the following calculated geometric capacity : 10 -- 50mm one-way (frame allows 45) 12 -- 55mm one-way (frame allows 50) 15 -- 60mm one-way (frame allows 55) Therefore; each one has a 5mm cushion beyond what the frame can handle in it so the surround CANNOT reach the maximum geometric limit -- as this can cause stress and eventually tear the surround. We've taken note that no open tool / readily available surround can handle what some of our newer designs can dish out already... and future designs will be even more extreme on throw so these surrounds …

Mechman suggests i set my alternator to 19.2v if i upgrade to 16v. Will this voltage be safe for Sundown amps that are capable of running 18v?

In the manual, it shows it can be bridged to drive 2 subwoofers, but i want to just bridge it to power my Phoenix Gold RSD comps... If I bridge channels 1 & 2, 3 & 4, how would I connect my RCA's if I am only using the "front" outputs on my HU. Do I need a 1 female to 2 male splitter? to drive 1 & 3 left and 2 & 4 right? im a little confused at this point... thanks in advance for any help. Cody

Seems it was a pretty hot topic so more information on it now. The market I am targeting is retail dealers -- the products this amp will compete with are primarily items from Memphis, Alpine, JL, Rockford, etc. SAE-500D prototype size not counting power terminals and RCA connectors is only 9.5" wide x 1 7/8" tall x 9" long -- this will vary a bit when we tool our actual case but will be quite similar. Cost will be $200.00 from an authorized dealer. Comparison to products in direct competition from authorized online sources : Memphis (1 ohm / 60-amp fusing) : $339.99 7.83 x 1.85 x 11.45 Memphis 16-PR1X500 JL (Class A/B / 2 ohms / 60-amp fusing): $299.99 14" x 2-1/8" x 7-11…

How much would I gain if running one NS 18" D2 on saz-2000D against saz-1500D? Would there be difference on the ear with 500W more from saz-2000D? Is it really necessary to run over 1kw more than rated(assuming the underrated power of saz2000) to get loud or I should run 1500D and save that 100$. I don't really care about the meter. Just want to save some money.
