Sundown Audio

Over the last few days I was home and able to run a couple tests with my gear. I was pleasantly surprised to see these numbers when I clamped my pair of SAZ-1500Ds strapped at 2 ohms (1-per), car on with factory alt, off of a little 600CA battery: ~3,100WRMS I built my first attempt at a box strictly geared towards SPL, and after tinkering with it a bit worked up to a score of 146.0 dbdrag style, using these amps and two 12" RE SXs out of a saturn trunk. Just figured I'd share the results... I have big plans for this summer once I get a hold of a new battery and some time to build/test.

This is my first post in this wonderful forum so please pardon my ignorance. I just got two saz 2500d's and wow what an awesome piece of design. I wanna run these two amps strapped together and Ive seen the diagram for how to hook them up. My only trouble is does one have to gain match the amps? I know that the one amp is the slave to the other and uses the settings from the master amp but no where it says about the gain. Thanks in advance and all b happy to post the outcome of these two bad boys strapped together.

Something we are working on... Was designed around the needs of our NEO-8 project : Project I'm Working On - Car Audio Classifieds But will eventually find it's way into other projects... I've started a new Ferrite 8" design to be used with this frame... depending on the cost / performance may move up to X8 designation (based on motor the size of the SA-12). It is a bit over-sized from a standard 8" cut-out and OD but that was needed to get a large spider on an eight finally ETA not set yet... but keep your eyes out !

I've never used the remote on my past amps because they never came w/ one so I want to ask what does the remote control when set to max. Max gain on the amp or max gain set by the amp?

I can't wait to get them in and installed! It's been quite a while since I've done any car audio and I'm pretty excited to get back into it!

I am building a competition van for a customer and it will have either 16 XS Power D3100s or 20 2400s (working on sponsorship), 4 Kicker Warhorse amps, and a deck mounted in rear for burps with a audio control line driver (8v). This will be walled off and strictly for Competition use only and tuned around 70HZ. The customer wants to go with Kicker Solo X 18s but I am currently trying to get him into Sundown Nightshade V2 18s. There will be 4 subs and each one will be hooked up to one warhorse at full power (approx 10k rms each sub). This SAZ-1500D was shipped out for testing purposes and then shipped back to Sundown Audio afterwards. It looks pretty much brand new, although it is used so it has some finger prints and whatnot on it. This amp will be covered by full warranty from the date of purcase. $425 shipped in the continental 48 states via paypal

These are actually of a proto that was shipped in December to Mike (theothermike). He was nice enough to share with us!

Has anyone tried the Sa-12 's in a 4 order bandpass ? What kind of number? I'm thinking of trying 3 in a 4 order. Can anyone design this type of setup?

about to build a box for a 99 s10 ext cab, single 15 nightshade. what size box should i build. i have designed a box right now that is... net air space 4.72ft3. port area 65.25 in2. @31.85 hz will this be ok?

Hey guy - my shipping company gave me unusually good news for once My SA-8s / 12s weren't due in Charlotte until the 25th but it seems they should be at my door tomorrow after 1:00 at some point. Unless something weird happens, of course !

hey guys I tried posting in the fab section about my box, but figured I'd post here as well considering this is the board ive been reading for the past year. but anywho, last summer i came across a fellow on here from saskatoon,SK which happens to be where im from, said he would build me a box, but i just didnt have the dough at the time....just hopeing he's still here. I think he had an oilers logo as his avatar. but if not could someone pleeeeeease hook me up with a design/blueprint for my 2 12" r's off a 1500D @1ohm. Ive searched the web, but didnt really come up with anything I trust.

tried my damnest to get a 140 out of it, just so I could talk smack, but I'm impressed with the number, since the box is tuned to 34hz and the subs are seeing around 350 watts or so. Forgot to mention, these are the 10's also.

Jacob, Are there any plans on making a 6 channel amp? 50X4 125X2 or preferably 100X4 250X2? If so I can hold out. I really want a matching Sundown 6 channel. My other options are Mcintosh or Tru at least as far as I can find. And I hate to part with the green that those brands would cost me for no other benefit than the "Look what I got!" BS.

so can i just change the frame on a sa-8 v1 to a as-8 v1.5 NOT sa-8V2??????

i know they're rated at 100w rms, but crossed at say 80 to 100hz, what do you think they can take Jacob? i have about 250w per mid the way itll be wired. not sure if theyll handle that over time or not.

Would a Nightshade recone fit in a SSA Icon motor?

Went to get my brand new SAZ 1500D installed today but when they hooked it up it wouldn't work. The amp turns on and gets hot but won't play. They took it out and put in a jl amp and it played great. They also hooked the amp up to some machine (forgot the name) to see if it would work and nothing is there anything I can do or do I have to send it back? Oh and I'm running 1 12" fi bl in a 2 cuft box tuned to 35.5 hz with 0 guage wiring

So the 1000 is rated at 1000W @ 14.4 volts. What kind of numbers are we looking at closer to voltages on stock electrical, say 13V? Would two 1000d's be content on an 100A alt, with the big 3, and a battery in the rear? Also, one amp does 1000W, but two strapped does 1800. Why is this? And one more question... would a 1000d on a Fi SSD 12" wang awesomely? Thanks! -Trevor

finally got the front stage all setup, and painted and fiberglassed. Time to start building for the bass now.

Is it possible to buy just the crossovers? I have 2 sets of rokford fosgate 6.5" component sets (don't judge me they were $50 a piece during back Friday locally). They did not come with crrossovers. I have sundown for everything else in my truck.

System: (3) SA-8 D4's Phoenix Gold ZX600.2 titanium. (1200W @ 2 Ohm bridged) Looking for help designing the box for these bad boys. I've don't see any information on the Sundown site regarding recommended volumes / port sizes / tuning, so here I am... I've played with WinISD some, and basically decided to tune it somewhere around 33 Hz. For those of you that have these bad boys, what tuning do you run, what volume of box, and how many subs?
