I can either get a second SAZ-2000 or a single SAZ-3500. I am leaning more towards getting the second SAZ-2000 so I can have more power. But I like the thought of having a single powerful amp. But on another note, I am VERY impressed with the 2000, it does more then rated power all day without getting more then luke warm. my SAX-100.4 gets warmer then the 2000 does. These will be powering two RE MT 18"s

We plugged up one port hole in a box I had laying around the shop and dropped an NS 15 in there to see what would happen. Good times I think we've had too much fun this weekend. Also did a video of a 149.5 run -- my clamp did not register in the video for some reason... but when we did the 149.7 run I clamped 2500 actual watts. VIDEO :

Hey jacob you plan on doing alot of NSPL ? I plan on getting another SD 3kd and thats going to put me in the no-wall 5001-10k class And i know thats the class you run in. I know i'm not going to be doing 54's and up. So i'm wondering what your clamp is or are you planning to run another class? I'm hopping your over 10k . you running 2 3500 or 2 4500? I i know you went back to a 17 volt system. Dj is hooking me up with his alt. Hes going to replace my AC compressor with one off his truck but its still a 12 volt system. but its going to be fun this year

I just placed an order at DbR for a refurbished SAE-1200D. They are stated as not including the remote. Does anyone know where I can get one for it? Are they a standard phone jack type remote that I could snag one from Ebay or somewhere else ?

He said they pull less amps and have more adjustability. He also tried to get me to get a W3 over getting an SA12 He looked up sundowns website and looked at their product and said it looked great and all but JL was still better. LOL What do you guys think about that? Also 3 different car audio shops I went to hadnt even heard of sundown. I tried telling them they are a top rated company on the car audio forums and they all looked at me like I didnt know WTF I was talking about

No offense to anyone, ive never heard one. i'm just curious, but what is so great about a sundown audio amp, I have read the specs and they seam good, but there thd distortion isn't that low, and people always recommend the 1500rms version for an xcon and I always wondered why?? I have read they have plenty of raw power, but i'm the kind of guy that likes to know every detail.

Here's the setup, a pair of Sundown Audio SAZ-1500d's strapped at 1 ohm. In the box used in the test (a single Funkin Audio MF12, dual 2), rise went from 1 ohm to 2 ohms during play. Here are the results: Notes: * Highest power on 16.0v rest was 4663 watts on 14.3v * Highest power on 16.5v rest was 5136 watts on 14.3v * Highest power on 17.9v rest was 5677 watts on 15.5v * 84% efficient on 15.0v and 180 amps of draw per amp There was a 10% increase in power starting 0.5v higher with an ending voltage being the same. There was another 10% increase when starting at 1.4v higher and ending 1.2v higher. This would tell me that a lowest voltage over 16.5v like…

Just got the new 1200d, setup with knukonceptz 4 gauge and my old 80 amp fuse from my alpine pdx 600 watt, and so far it sounds a lot more like 600 than 1200. Would I see a huge improvement if I upgraded to 1/0? The reason I ask is KnuKonceptz site says their 4 gauge handles 200 amps, and apparently the 1200 pulls only 150 amps. Either way, I'm definitely upgrading my fuse to 150 like it should be.

Okay so I have the low end figured out, but for the mids and highs I haven't decided. I figured since I already have Kicker 6 x 9's I'd go with some Kicker 6 1/2" for the doors and some 1" tweets. I think the SAX 50.4 would be a good buy. My low end will be (2) of the SA-12's powered by the SAZ-2000D. Will the mids and highs keep up with the low end or should I go bigger?

So I got the v.1 Nightshade up to 155.9 dB today on a 16v system -- right at 9.8kw clamped power. Used a slightly different coil but the cone / spider were the bone stock Nightshade parts... no pole plug of any kind used either. Not quite as good as the NS v.2 -- which did 156.1 on 12v on the same amps / same load... anxiously awaiting putting the v.2 in there on the 16v system I am hoping for 157+ from it ! Crappy pics of the sub... but I got the score : The coil is like the NS v.2 coil but only 50mm long... kind of a mix of the v.1 coil and the v.2 coil

Hey guys... I had to strengthen my SPAM filter today... finally got to the end of my rope on it -- I had 300 SPAM e-mails over the weekend and it's a pain to sort through and find the good ones I need to answer. SO... starting today if you e-mail me and DO NOT hear back within 2-5 days please post up here so I can make sure my SPAM filter isn't TOO strong.

1: In the power connection section of the manual, it shows the amp connected directly to the battery; no fuse for the wire, just the 3 30 amp fuses on the amp, but there is a fuse in the wire in the 2000 and 3500 diagram. I know that the 2000 and 3500 do not have fuses of their own and therefore need the fuse in the power wire, but I did not know that there was no need to fuse the power wire for the 1000 and 1500... I have always been told to fuse the power wire no matter what, so this is new to me. 2: I have always been told by many reputable members of this forum that sundown rates their amps' output at 12.8v instead of 14.4. However, in the manual, it says that th…

alright i thought about this and figured it would be alot cheaper and alot more fun to do it this way. I figured everyone that is on team sundown that is going to sbn instead of getting a hotel room we should try to find a big ass vacation home. i have an air mattress and stuff so i dont mind sleeping on the floor and what not. it would also be alot cheaper i think for everyone. im sure we could find a big home we could cram lots of people in and im sure we have enough vehicles that seat enough people that we could caravan people to and from the show. we could leave the wives back at the house and let them all do their own thing since im sure none of them want to be u…

REGULAR VOLTAGE TESTING: Testing by Loyd Lowry. results from the sundowns... Test Vehicle.. mine.. 05 aveo.. RMS clamp and dmm, as seen in the 12" test session.. This testing includes recent results, and not so recent.. woofers used.. 2 Mags (1.9 dcr per coil), 2 FI Q 12's (1.4 dcr per coil) either used 1 sub or both of the pair for loads.. pure 60hz sine was used to tested.. just under audible clipping 1 amp, single 1000ca everstart maxx, factory alt 4 ohm nominal = 518 watts @ 88% efficiency (voltage fell from 14.3v, to 14.0v) 2 ohm nominal = 948 watts @ 85% efficiency (voltage fell from 14.3v, to 13.6v) 1 ohm nominal = 1510 watts @ 78% efficiency (voltage fell from 14.…

155.1 dB - woohoo This was with a "Monster" prototype woofer -- not a production speaker. Interestingly... with all my tweaks to the Z v.2 prototype it was doing the same numbers per watt up to 2500 watts (I stopped measuring with the Monster at that point). So... I may be able to match this with a full production trim Z v.2 driver. Previous best was 154.9 with an 18v electrical system and two SAZ-3000Ds on the sub... this time I am on 12v but with two SAZ-4500Ds (power is similar). Some more pics of the setup : I haven't played with front to back box positioning since I built the new amp rack (yah, slacking... I know) -- but I'll work on that a bit when I get time a…
