Hello all, Here in the Raleigh, NC area I have been around to a few car audio shops to pick up little things from time to time and I notice that most do not carry any Sundown Audio equipment. To me this has been somewhat of a surprise considering the fact that the company is "local", in the sense that it is based out of the same state and is only a few hours away. The response I have gotten from guys that run these shops is almost offensive to me as a Sundown Audio user. When I ask why they don't carry any Sundown they seem to get on this defensive "high horse" stating that either "Sundown equipment is too expensive, and nobody will buy it" or that "they are just a sma…

Had another one made... the last proto was destroyed in shipping so didn't show up with the rest of the bunch! * Slightly larger than the SAZ-1500D 250 x 2 @ 4 ohms 500 x 2 @ 2 ohms * 1000 x 1 @ 4 ohms * * Rough numbers, pending testing.

I wanted to get a post going so everyone could get an idea of what I am working with. The main reason is because in Feb-Mar I will be doing some test on the SAZ-3000ds. I will be updating this thread as often as I can do any work and/or testing on the van. To start it is a 1993 Dodge Caravan, and I run StreeMax 1-2 in DB Drag. I bought it from Rooney Bianco of Team 420 in July of last season. Here it is the day I picked it up: A few specifics, I picked it up in Connecticuit at a show. When I picked it up it had the following: (2) MA 4000d (2)T3 tsns 18" old pioneer deck(2volt output) Kinetik 2400 one run of 0 ga At the show I hit a 154.7 and took first place.

Alright guys -- I have noticed that the SAX-100.2 doesn't get the recognition it deserves online. My local dealers love the amp and they have sold most of them to folks that don't post online! So, in order to get some love for the SAX-100.2 online I am doing to do something that you won't see again for a long time. I am opening a special DIRECT sale on the SAX-100.2 model until April 20th! On to the fun part... the cost will be $200 shipped in the continental USA (PM me for Hawaii and Alaska). Yes, that is right. This is April 2nd and not an April Fools joke! To take advantage of this offer simply Paypal me at [email protected] -- or for an easy Paypal check-out g…

The SD-1 v.2 protos are in... they take everything the SD-1 was good at and take it up a notch. 1) They are even shallower at only 4.5" mounting depth (10" model). 2) They have more linear x-max. 3) They have a 2.5" voice coil so they will handle twice as much power thermally. 4) They maintain the efficiency of the original SD-1. 5) They maintain the small box requirements of the original SD-1. 6) They maintain the low-end performance of the original SD-1. 7) They are now DVC 4 ohm for more wiring options. 8) They now have a rubber mounting gasket. These subs will throw down in very small enclosures and will now handle much more power. Ideal for shallow truck enclosures! …

I usually dont go out of my way to make these threads but I have to say I am utterly embarrassed by Sundowns lack of ANY customer service. I have dealt with Jacob directly about 5 years ago when ordering my first Sundown amplifiers and have nothing but great things to say about how he treated me as a customer. Fast forward 5 years to today and I am a dealer for Sundown. Im not going to go into how their high shipping costs coupled with their low online pricing makes it IMPOSSIBLE to make a profit on their products and still be competitive. Rather, I want to bring up how utterly non-existent their customer service is. We ordered a pair of Nightshade 18" for a c…

So I was sitting here thinking of how I can make my car louder! then it hit me! toss out my back seat and get another NS 15inch and more power and fire them up or forward! lol!! I was just looking over my last install pics and I noticed without the rear seat I have so much more space. plus my car already has 320,000km (198,000 miles) so what can I lose! lol!! I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY MEASUREMENTS YET, this is just what I was thinking about. my car is a 95 grand am my current setup can be found here I now have a new jvc avx77 and aluminum bus bars on my batteries so everything looks a little more cleaner! anyways back to my idea! if I pull out the seat make a 6cubic box ei…

A guy sent me his car to work on for a few months. I received it today and I've still got to figure out what I CAN do in it. By the time it's done, I'll be doing what I can in the trunk and redoing the door panels. The goal (if I can make it fit) is two SAZ-3500d's, a SAX-200.4, four Neo-Pro 10's and four Neo-Pro 8's.

So... SA-8 a little too big / powerful / deep for you ? I'm working on the E8 v.2 model as well for those of you who fit that description. THERE IS NO ETA OR PRICE YET - MY PROTOTYPE JUST GOT HERE TODAY! Works a bit better sealed as well -- very close to the E8 v.1 in sealed performance. Sticking to the 200 RMS rating of the E8 v.1 but this model is alot more robust -- I did alot of thinking over the last year or so about how to make an affordable 8" driver that can take more abuse than the E8 v.1 could... and this is what I came up with. It will be cheaper than the SA-8 but, obviously, more expensive than the E8 v.1 model. Magnet is 6mm narrower than the SA-8 and only a …

Hey guys i'm new to the forum pretty much and i drive a 2011 camaro. i got that sundown amp with an incriminator audio death row 12.... i took it to the most reputable shop in town and asked them to install it. i've taken three cars to this place before and nothing has ever went wrong. They hooked it up, said everything was great, but they had set the gain on the lower side as i would need to break in the subwoofer for awhile and go easy on it. that was fine with me because i wasn't really gonna start slamming til i replaced my door speakers which will happen around late october. well the system worked fine the first day, it sounded amazing, better than anything i've hear…

I'm working on alot of stuff right now... I am not 100% sure how much will make it to the market by the end of this year but lets cover what is currently in the pipe-line : 1) Nightshade v.3 -- Already discussed on the forums a bit. This will be 15s and 18s only for a while -- maybe a few 12s for burp apps but NO TENS. 2) New Sundown baskets in 10/12/15 sizes. I can't show off the renderings yet until my ornamental patent application is in... but think at LEAST as much clearance as the "Eclipse" baskets AND even stronger. 18s will definitely not make it for 2012... but are on the road-map for 2013. This will allow me to make the NS v.3 in 12s for music applications. These…

Currently waiting on customer to pick out some vinyl so I can finish the truck box, but in the mean time I decided to get started on my next box for the kia. The quad SA8s were decent in the kia, I dotn like the layout and the way it goes in the trunk however, So Im making a new box. Infact Im going to add the 2 refurbs Ive got on the way to the mix to do 6 sa8s in the kia. So my question, how much port area should i use for 6 of these, Im going to tune to 34hz approx, maybe a few less, and Im gonna build the box at 3 cubes. probably gonna get going on it tonight as long as I can figure out the port area. Some calculators Ive tried put the port area much higher than I fi…

Well, after ordering a SAE1000D from Db-r my boy couldn't wait to do the car he would like to call his (of course I make the dang payments). We mounted a Pioneer Premier head unit. Clarion Pro Audio 4 channel amp Alpine components in the front doors an ancient MTX 3 10 inch sub box and the Sundown amp. I ordered 4 E8's from Mike and when they get in it will be either order a box or build one. Still need to get some loom to neaten up the wires but not a bad little install for 3 hours work. I have got to say the Sundown is powering the MTX box well. The box sits at 4 ohm so the output is around 300 watts. It hits hard! When we installed the stereo last Sunday, I did everyth…

I'm gearing up for the impending install in my SC400. I just ordered a 180a High Output alternator that should be here in a week or so. My tenative plan is to run 2 12" Fi Q's (D1 Ohm) on a SAZ-1500D. These will be running along side a JL450/4 for Mids/Highs. Am I going to be okay? Ohiogen, who is selling me the alternator, suggested I throw a Red Top in the back in addition to all of this but I don't want to if I don't have to, as it's just added weight and more money on top of the ~$550 alternator that I didn't want to have to buy in the first place.... It's a LSQ Install and I don't plan on blaring them in a parking lot with the key off or anything irresponsible. …

Updates : 1) Double sided PCB board (v.1 was single sided) 2) More primary input caps 3) Large brass bars for power supply current 4) Revised layout 5) Superior Soldering and assembly quality Same power as the existing 1200D but overall higher quality throughout based on what we learned from the v.1 model. Who would be interested in a pre-sale at, say, around $250 These amps are capable of 1500+ watts.

Well all I have to say is thanks Jacob. I just got 2 1500d's, let me tell you they are strong amps!!! I can't wait to get the other 6. I did manage to do some testing... I will just say this 2 1500's are louder than one Stetsom 7kd in my vehicle, on 12volts.

I was pokein around the net and I read that sundown, IA, RD and Stetsom all use the EXACT same boards built by a build house out of china named ZENON. This company is supposed to make High end boards for these companies. So my question is...I have a few grand cash for my next amp why should I go with sundown when RD and IA are less if they are the same?

Got a new car today... been wanting one for a while so pulled the trigger. Picked up a 2006 VW GTI 2.0T today Okay, so it's not NEW per-se... but it does look new, and it's new to me! It's time that I went back to a hatch-back vehicle to make me really happy again Pics soon! Once I get settled into the new Sundown warehouse in the coming weeks I'll start on the system.
