And well, i will let the following photo say it all...... The car has 2 x Sundown 4500d's Strapped at 0.35 - 0.175 per amp Measured output across the pair 105.3 volts 121.2 amps = 12,762 watts output - or in laymans terms "a ****load" Battery was dropping to 10.5 volts as well! I do not condont this sort of abuse - one of the amps was going into protect which is something i need to investigate further, however whichever way you look at it - 6.3K from a 4.5k amp with no engine charging the battery (StreetMax) is pretty awesome going. I feel i must also give some of the credit to the DC LV 4XL SPL motored subs, as they seem to be standing up to the abuse very well so f…

Picked up the proto from Jacob about a month ago. Finished up the box last night and wanted to share some pics. specs: 1.85 cf3 after displacements 3/4 birch that isn't really 3/4 6" aero 31hz tune sub: port: I flush mounted it then cut another plate to fit on the inside. That gave me more surface to epoxy and helped seal up the giant hole on the backside. Painted it several coats of hammered black. Used 1" dowel rods for bracing and support of the port.

Greetings currently own a z v.4 10. It is a 97 Tahoe being ran off of a saz 2500 v.2. It would be more cost effective to re-cone it to a 18". it would cost little over twice as much two add another z v.4 10, but just because it cost less doesn't mean it will sound better. basically I'm after more output. better low end extension. I had it in my cutlass and it sounded great but in the Tahoe I have a lot more cabin space. any suggestions between the two? thanks in advance for the input.

K got my saz-1000d today. Now I know on other amps to get the most out of it you need to bridge the 2 channels. Now on this amp do I need to do the same? I noticed it doesnt have it printed on the amp. You know what I mean. Pos of 1 channel and neg of 2nd channel. I have it wired to a 15 fi Q with bp option in a sealed box. sub is wired amp pos to 1 side then bridged over to the the other pos. same for neg. I think this presents a 1 ohm load to the amp.

If I wire 2 subs down each dual d1 coils down to 2 ohms meaning each sub is wired down to 2 ohms does the amp bridge that internally to 1 ohm..

I have a box on the way from Dave The Box Guy with interchangeable ports and what not and would like to use it for a long time without modifying the sub cut out holes. It is going to be for 2 SA-12s that I have laying around. I was just curoius to see what the cut out diameters were for the Zv4 or X series because I will eventually upgrade to one of them. Thanks everyone. Sorry if the answer is somewhere else, I have looked and looked but haven't found it yet.

Well, my wife entered the truck last Saturday because it looked like it was going to be a small show. Shortly there after the other cars rolled in and although a smallish show we had to go up against 5 other cars. She took home 2nd in sound quality against the likes of Audison, Hertz, Zapco installed cars. We would have been trailing just behind #1 if it wasnt for some gain hiss and a turn off (mechanical) pop....JAKE you need to get this problem handled. (amps in the cabin and it is indeed mechanical noise). Other than that, with 1/2 hour of tuning and a 2nd place finish is prety nice. We are seriously thinking about doing SQi @ West Coast Regionals (my comp car is …

All, I am looking into running 2) SA-12s in my 2012 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. I do not want to loose my entire trunk with a large ported enclosure and also, I prefer the sound of sealed enclosures. I am not a SQ freak but I like the tight bass, with some boom if I crank it up. I am limited to 1000-1200W RMS. They will be getting 600W each @ 2 Ohms. My question is this - the Sundown website recommends 1.0 ft^3. I listen to mostly rap, R&B, electronic, with some metal mixed in there. 1) Should I be going slightly larger than recommended to retain my lows (e.g. 1.25 ft^3)? 2) I can't find much info on the SA-12s in sealed enclosures. Anybody running these sealed? How…

currently i have 2 12 nightshades in right now, and when the big sale on the 12's were going on a few months ago, i paid for two and put 200 down for 2 more when i was looking at getting a bigger car... my question is would i be louder with maybe buying another 1500d and pay the remaining 85 to take one sub or put the money towards upgrading them to 15 baskets . so.... 3 12 ns on 3 1500's or 2 15 ns on 2 1500d's(also i really like the sound of 15's) my last set up was a btl 15 on 2 1500ds in a chambered t-line and that set up equally if not more louder than this set. current 12's are in a 4.4 cube @ 35 hz. when the decision is made, pete will be building my box, always wa…

Check it out We made a ghetto box last night for some 8s -- 1/2" thick MDF, no bracing, we did not actually calculate the tuning or volume so don't ask *laughs* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLbTtVjdD8c * Bass Race Run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_FN83Ut62s * Burp Score But yes... the E8s have some good SPL potential.

Hey guys, This is a project I've been working on for a while... it's origins date back to 2009 with my unfinished 4" coil Neo design (some may remember it) : http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/sundown-audio/19945-proto-neo-4-motor.html I put the whole thing on hold to concentrate more on things that would really grow the company & our dealer base. That being said... fast forward 5 years now and I have the opportunity and ability to work on this again. As far back as 2009 I knew I wanted to go after my Neo SPL design with a 4" coil -- so I did that again. This time I went for a good bit more Neo and a different / unique design : So this is my first prototy…

ok so i'm about ready to buy my amps. i will have 4 15" fully loaded 1 ohm btl's in about 16 cubes tuned to 32hz. but before i buy the amps...can a 3000d handle a pair of fully loaded btl's @ 1ohm? only time it will get turned up loud will be for competition burps. maybe to turn up for demos for friends . other than that it'll be regular volume, so nothing strenuous. i have a 200 amp H/O alt atm, couple extra batteries (will upgrade to some kinetiks in the future), and i'm getting a solid 14.3/14.4 volts. i may try to add another alt if money allows. also...would bass race be out of the question with this setup? to prevent burning up the amps? i'm kinda going out on a l…

First time posting here, but have been reading up on Sundown for the past few months and have like everything I've read so far. So a month ago I purchased two brand new SAZ-3000Ds and they are strapped together to make a 6000W monster. Well I was trying to do some no load gain settings like I have done in the past on other amplifiers. I have three Powermaster D3100 batteries with 1/0AWG cable between each as well as 1/0AWG cable for Pos and Neg to each amplifier. Also I have double runs of 8AWG between each amp as well. I set all controls for both amps to zero connected my sub out RCA from my HU to the master amp and the BR out to the BR in of the slave amp. I place…

So to make a long story short I have a polk amp that puts out 573 watts rms. The rated rms level for the e 12 is 400 and my amp can't even push it. I don't know if it is because the sub hasn't broken in yet or if because this sub is simply a Badass. Anyway the point I am trying to make is... Thanks Jacob for making a beast subwoofer. Now just time to get a more Badass amp to push this bad boy.

Our new FedEx rep was a good sport and got a short demo. 12x Obsidian Audio 12s 2x SAZ-4500Ds on 16v @ 1.33 ohms We forgot to have the low-tuned loading wall in -- so hair movement not as good as it could be but our rep enjoyed it !

by looking at your products alone you know your shit about subs. i have a pair of 10's i had built for me a couple years back 60lbs each so there is some serious magnets on them. the bl/re in series is only a 92 im guessing this is due to the coil. if i had it rebuilt to something with twice the motor strength what could i see in output diffrence? current coils are round copper 8layer not sure on what the rest of the specs are. i know they could use a spider spacer for more travel they will hit the top plate before the coil can bottom. is it possible the charge is weak on the magnets?

I am nearly finished building my amp rack but recently read quite a few things about amps getting hot and going into thermal protection and got me thinking. I know there is very little airflow if any over my amps due to how my amp rack is setup and the amps being right behind the back seat. Has anyone added fans to their amps to try and keep them cool, any tips on how to go about doing this? I was wondering about maybe removing the bottom cover and just aiming a fan like a 80mm or 120mm computer case fan at the innards of the amp, or maybe machining the bottom cover to hold an exhaust fan inside the amp. I figured I could wire them up with a relay off the remote turn on l…
