Sundown Audio

So I got the v.1 Nightshade up to 155.9 dB today on a 16v system -- right at 9.8kw clamped power. Used a slightly different coil but the cone / spider were the bone stock Nightshade parts... no pole plug of any kind used either. Not quite as good as the NS v.2 -- which did 156.1 on 12v on the same amps / same load... anxiously awaiting putting the v.2 in there on the 16v system I am hoping for 157+ from it ! Crappy pics of the sub... but I got the score : The coil is like the NS v.2 coil but only 50mm long... kind of a mix of the v.1 coil and the v.2 coil

Hello, How many watts will my Sundown SAZ 1500D give me @ 1.34 ohms? I have a Duralast Gold battery up front, Batbap 800 in the back. 0 guage wiring in the entire car. I have 3 T3 TS series 10 in a sealed box single 4 ohm wired for 1.34 ohms. Thanks

How much distance between the bottom of magnet /pole vent on sa10 and the back of the enclosure is needed or recommended?

Hello Does the SAX100.4D is 12.5V tested or 14.4V tested ? Does It have different power and THD voltage test ? I'd like to have a sure answer. Thank you

Well, I noticed the 1st victim thread, so I figured I'd post up the 2nd victim of the strapped Sundowns here. Sub is a Mmats Juggernaut motor that was reconed by RE. It had about 10 burps on it, and 30 seconds on music, although it wasn't happy before the 30 seconds on music run. It was already rattling, but I figured I might as well take it out in style:

Ok, I will probably have a SAX-100.4 in my hands by Friday. As long as UPS does good work. What I'm wondering is, if I drop the amp lower then 2 ohm per channel, will it gain much more power? And if I drop it lower then 4 bridged, will that gain noticeably more power? I'm just wondering here.

Ported Enclosure would be around 1.2cubes, sa8 is rated at 400watts and I see everyone seems to feed them a lot more for even daily... So will the sa8 still move enough to get some decent output with only 300watts? This setup isn't for competing obviously, just for my old man

Forgive me if this is dumb, The red protection led came on no my sax 100.4 this morning. I tested the speakers and the right front reads 4.3 ohms the left front reads 5.5 ohms and both bak read 4.2 ohms. I know a speaker short can cause the protection to come on. Is the 5.5 a short or would it read OL on the meter?

hey i need to get sundowns address including zip code to give to fed ex b/c they need to know it so i can start a claim to find my amp that was shipped and someone other than the company that i shipped it to signed for it and it has dissapeared......

I know this has probably been answered before, but the search bar is pretty much useless on this forum. So if I can keep my electrical system from dropping below 13.0-13.5 volts, how will the saz take the .5 ohm load?

the good................ well.. this past weekend was one of florida largest mini truck/car shows.. Slamfest.. they had a stereo comp... so i went to the show on sat to qualify in the two classes i entered.. i entered 30 sec average..kinda like bass race.. and outlaw spl.. the meter was a term lab but it was like 6 db high in its readings.. so i do a 162 in the average 30 sec..( would be a real 156 ) and a 163.2 in the outlaw thing.... had a good day .. demoed my van talked about my sundown amps ect.. the bad.... sunday on the way to the show i am driving like 55mph in a constuction zone with concrete barriers on eather side.. my front upper ball joint broke.. i almost …

This is Team Nemesis Jay's Magnum. It has a pair of Sundown NightShade 18"s powered by a pair of Sundown saz-3000s. This car loves screwed music and will play it all day long. The amps never get warm and the subs barely get a temp even after some hard beating. Here's a vid. The song playing is a screwed version of Gorilla Zoe - Waddle that peaks @ 31hz. I've heard some comments about NightShades not being able to play the lows. Well here's a reality check.

Here is the situation. Just bought a 2003 Jetta GLI VR6. It had the factory option for the Monsoon sound system, which included an amp in the trunk powering the components in all four doors. The previous owner put in an aftermarket Double Din Kenwood DDX418. It isn't the best deck but does what I need to right now. The mids and highs sound better than what I expected, but I am missing the lows. I am not looking to shake the neighborhood. I just want to hear a more full sound that can handle my varied taste in music. I listen to everything from Squirrel Nut Zippers, to the Gravediggers. I have had single audiopulse axis dual 2 ohm sub wired to my sundown 3000 at 1 ohm. I was going to get a second sundown for my second axis. but recently testing the power and impedence rise charts with my wt3 woofer tester, i found that my impedence rise is going up to 3 with the single axis. so ive only gotten about 2000watts with lots of clipping. After i noticed that i put both axis's in a sealed box with them wired down to .5 ohms. i clamped it today and took an impedence curve and its raising to about 1.1 ohms now. i got about 2300 watts before my voltage dropped too low where i didnt want go continue, and no one was here to rev the engine. I have 2 1500d's, only one is in my car right now. I have an AA havoc 18d2 in the car as well. I am looking to add another 18 soon. My question is: will I get more efficency and power with both amps running seperately at 1 ohm a piece or running strapped at 2 ohms? I have factory electrical(110amp alt) for now, will be upgrading it soon as well. I just want to run the 2 18's without destroying anything in my car. Any help would be appreciated.

Just picked up a used sae1200d from kevin s. I am in love with this amp. Never never never has my sub sounded this good. It's incredible. Excellent build quality. I'll post a full review once I get a couple of days of playing in. But for now, great product Jacob. A little dated or not, I dont think I'll be straying from sundown anytime soon.

Friends. I have ordered a FI Q12 (Dual 2 OHMS) single sub that will go into a ported sub-woofer enclosure just as soon as I can get in contact with pound that sound. First, I am trying to find out what's the difference between the following two amps, if there is any. a. Sundown Audio SAZ-1000D = RMS 600 x 1 watts @ 2 ohms b. Sundown Audio SAE-1200D = RMS 600 x 1 watts @ 2 ohms Secondly, will either of these two be sufficient enough to power that particular sub since both are 2ohms x 1 600 RMS--------------------(underrated) ? a.
