It not a big deal, but lately when i turn my remote knob for my amp down, it makes the sub pop a few times.. Is this an indication the knob is bad and i should buy a new one? Mike

Exceptional customer service! I bought 2 Sa-12's locally but forgot to take my DMM with me so kinda took a risk buying them.. One came out to be dual 4 ohm which the guy "didn't know about".. Ohh well. My friend ordered a recone for me but put no adress and left out some necessary info. I get an email from Debbie at Sundown notifying me about it and asking me the info that was left out. Before my friend ordered it I asked Jacob questions on pricing and how about to order the recone.. Didn't take much for him to get back to me. For the amount of emails he receives and work he has to do to get things taken care of, I am impressed I love their CS and products. Will definat…

Welcome to Sundown Went live yesterday. The biggest upgrade is behind the scenes... the new software actually allows us to do more modifications so we don't need to bug our web guy (aka: taking forever for us to get around to it). I have already started filling in lots of missing information, pictures, and typing descriptions. Comments / big reports are welcome at this time. Some information is not there YET -- mounting data, specs, etc... that stuff is coming soon. We are absolutely slammed with woofer building so that takes a bit of a back seat. I may also get even more technical in the descriptions as well -- I am sure everyone enjoys that. Also the dealer locator is M…

Sundown Fans, We have updated our warranty policy to better serve our customers. We already have DOUBLE the warranty period of most car audio companies (2 years vs. 1 year) but we wanted to make it even better. I will copy the entire new warranty text into this post but these are the highlights: 1) ANY return will issued a prepaid FedEx label billed to our account. 2) This means warranty AND non-warranty returns. 3) If your items is *COVERED* by your 2-year warranty you are liable for ZERO shipping costs -- we cover it BOTH ways now. 4) If your item is *NOT COVERED* you still pay shipping both ways BUT you get to take advantage of OUR shipping discount rath…

Our prior unit had extensive supplier issues to the point where we've just had to write off all of that work and tooling. In any event... I decided to re-visit the X-8 idea and base it on our SA-8 v.2 frame tooling. The first challenge was to make a GREAT spider for a 2.5" coil on an 8" woofer... which is difficult and we used extensive software optimization before tooling. Fortunately our basket allows a spider about 10mm wider than pretty much all other 8" frames out there. Since the spider is the main challenger we had that tooled first and then built up a test bed to test with : * Former was too tall / big in diameter for the SA-8 dust cap to work so I had to use an …

Is it o.k. to run a .67 load on one of the SAZ models? I am currently feelin' around the forum to find out what I want to do with my sub stage and might do three SA-8s. Before I get too carried away, I wanted to make sure that it would be safe to run 3 D4 SA-8s off of an SAZ model amp, (currently the 1000D but beefing up to a used 2000D in the future for comps and such). I suppose the second question would then be: As long as I keep the box small and watch the volume knob when I'm daily driving, would it be safe to run the afore-mentioned subs off an SAZ-2000D? I don't know for certain, but wouldn't that be 3000 watts-ish? Thanks for any help in advance P.S. I didn'…

I know you can run the 100.4 active. I "believe" using the SSF to make a bandpass. Does it do that with chan 1/2 or 3/4? The manual doesn't really explain much. Any help or links to a post with that info would be GREATLY appreciated as I'm doing an install for a guy this weekend and need that info asap. Or Mr. Sundown replying and setting me straight is always appreciated.

I've been thinking of wiring my subs lower (see sig) to .25 ohms. Their dual 1s so it should be .25 correct, tried looking for a pic can't find. ( if you have one please post a link). My rise with the amp off is like 1.4 I believe, and close to 2 ohms when playing. Any ideas? Thanx

I just picked up a 3rd 1500D last night for a steal of a deal and might pick up a 4th in a few weeks if the guy decides to sell it. Is there way to wire one remote gain knob to both strapped pairs of them? If not how do you normally control multiple amps as I really like being able to turn them up/down from the driver's seat?

I'm picking up a pair of Z15's off a guy on the forums here. Due to trunk space and lack of a HO Alt I'm only going to be running one of them and either selling the other or keeping it as a spare. Since they're dvc4 I can only run it at 2 ohms on the amp, and the product manual states that the amp does 600w at 2 ohms. Will there be a large downgrade in performance running them this low? Right now I'm running 2 shitty 12s at a 4 ohm load, and since the manual states that it does 300 @ 4ohm, I dmm'd it at 300. I'm hoping that the z15 on twice the power will blow the 12's out of the water. But by giving the sub just over half its RMS, am I severely limiting it's potential? O…

I am a member on some other forums, one of which likes to preach pure ESSQUE. One of the topics I have seen that rears its head is, at 1 ohm dcr loads the overall sound quality suffers. So if I understand correctly the distortion goes way up, woofer control is lost etc... So if a Sundown amp is run at 1 ohm dcr and is not driven to clipping but within its normal parameters of use, say 1/3 power has there been anything noticed within the SQ parameters as far as audible distortion, less woofer control? Or can I say that Sundown is designed for this specific use? I get PM's a lot being called a fanboy but the dang thing just works for me. As well as my son, brother and se…

I've seen a lot of the testings use 1/2 ohm loads on these amps. Is it practical and safe to run 1/2ohm on a regular setup? I want to add a second sub to my setup and my current sub is 2ohm dvc. Adding another one of those puts me at 2 ohms or .5 and Id rather go .5 if I can. My other choice is buying two new subs instead of one and that is a lot more money. Appreciate any input here

Im getting mixed info like crazy on this one...mainly concerned with keeping voltage drop to a minimum. I've read, more wire, the better..then i've read there was no difference i.e. Sean replaced his 10 y/o 0ga with brand new 2 runs of 0 and he gained nothing... Here's my electrical before you guys ask for it....DB electrical 250a alt and plan on running a XS Power D3100 in the back.

The setup: single DD 3518, slot ported, tuned to 32hz single Sundown SAZ-1500 Kinetik HC800 battery Did a 144.8 legal, sealed on the dash Did a 146.8 in the kick, outlaw Not too bad for 1500 watts, single sub setup, with no real power upgrades.
