Worked on the car stereo yesterday. To date, I have the Alpine CDA-9884 with the RUX-C701/PXA-H701 processor/ controller combo installed. I ran the main 1/0 power wire from the stock battery in my 06 Toyota Solara. I sealed my sub box and installed the sub. I wanted to hear the sub before I finished the appearance portion of the box. It is a dual 2 ohm VC wired in Parallel for a 1 ohm load. I have not installed a permanent ground point on the chassis so mounted a temporary 4 gauge wire to a seat lug that sees a resistance of 1.4 ohms. Voltage at the Distribution block when the car is running is 14.1 volts. Th ground is very temporary but also very securely fastened. All …

I'm going to run two sets of Infinity coaxials, so four speakers total. The 100.4 would be a better choice than the 100.2, correct? My sub will be run on a Sundown SAZ-3000D.

Here is the situation. Just bought a 2003 Jetta GLI VR6. It had the factory option for the Monsoon sound system, which included an amp in the trunk powering the components in all four doors. The previous owner put in an aftermarket Double Din Kenwood DDX418. It isn't the best deck but does what I need to right now. The mids and highs sound better than what I expected, but I am missing the lows. I am not looking to shake the neighborhood. I just want to hear a more full sound that can handle my varied taste in music. I listen to everything from Squirrel Nut Zippers, to the Gravediggers. What I think might work, would be pairing up a Sundown SAX 125.2 with a SA-8 with the …

  9. I finally got to put power to my pair of sa10 subs. I have 2 wired to 1 ohm in 2.5 cu ft net tuned to 32 hz with 40 sq in of port. They are running off my saz-1500d. And are taking it no problem. I only have about an hour of play time on them. So we'll how much they loosen up. So far I'm impressed. I'm coming from an re sx 15 in 4.2 cu ft net tuned to 32 hz running @2 ohms off the same saz-1500d. They are a little louder than the sx15, but night and day cleaner. They hit so much tighter than the sx. Rock and metal are enjoyable again. My current electrical is seriously lacking and I've got some bad voltage drop. So I know there is more in them. Over all I'm very happy wi…

1: In the power connection section of the manual, it shows the amp connected directly to the battery; no fuse for the wire, just the 3 30 amp fuses on the amp, but there is a fuse in the wire in the 2000 and 3500 diagram. I know that the 2000 and 3500 do not have fuses of their own and therefore need the fuse in the power wire, but I did not know that there was no need to fuse the power wire for the 1000 and 1500... I have always been told to fuse the power wire no matter what, so this is new to me. 2: I have always been told by many reputable members of this forum that sundown rates their amps' output at 12.8v instead of 14.4. However, in the manual, it says that th…

Forgive me if this is dumb, The red protection led came on no my sax 100.4 this morning. I tested the speakers and the right front reads 4.3 ohms the left front reads 5.5 ohms and both bak read 4.2 ohms. I know a speaker short can cause the protection to come on. Is the 5.5 a short or would it read OL on the meter?

Just picked up a used sae1200d from kevin s. I am in love with this amp. Never never never has my sub sounded this good. It's incredible. Excellent build quality. I'll post a full review once I get a couple of days of playing in. But for now, great product Jacob. A little dated or not, I dont think I'll be straying from sundown anytime soon.

Little FYI for those looking for really awesome fiberglass enclosures for, IMO, incredibly cheap prices: http://www.resinating-resin.com/products.htm I have the one that says "Sundown Audio" on it sitting at my shop... paint looks like auto paint - factory level quality. Very high quality enclosures. I know the owner personally, from before he moved back to Michigan. I'm sure he could even do them thicker for high SPL drivers (Nightshades) - although, it may not even be necessary... we'll be testing the box I got from him with Nightshades as soon as we get power wire in my Jeep.

Ported Enclosure would be around 1.2cubes, sa8 is rated at 400watts and I see everyone seems to feed them a lot more for even daily... So will the sa8 still move enough to get some decent output with only 300watts? This setup isn't for competing obviously, just for my old man

  25. Well guys, after getting haggled so bad at the last FX comp, I decided I needed to do something different for this comp. A 140 is not sufficient for 2 12's and 2 1500D's. I had 3 issues I needed to fix... 1. I was running a single run of 4 ga for 2 1500D's...Obviously a HUGE bottleneck on the amps. Now have a run of 1/0 per 1500D. 2. I had a prefab box which we tossed in the Cavi trunk to hold us out for the day...chit box, will have a newly designed box for this one, maybe a version of "CRX style". 3. For some reason the final load on the subs last time was 3.5 ohms (dual 2 subs). We didnt have time to check it, so we put it in a let it go. Discovered that one of th…
