I currently have a pair of SQ XBL^2 10s in 2.4 ft^3 tuned to 32hz. They're being fed right around 500w a piece. They sound great and have decent output but I find myself wanting a bit more. I have experience with mostly SQ subs (IDQ, AA Avalanche, TC2, etc)... how would the SA-10s compare? They'd be used in the same box, with the same power.

Ok. I ordered a Sundown Audio SA-10 Sub. Had it hooked up to a Alpine Pdx-1.600 mono amp. Was getting this rattling/slapping noise from the sub at all volumes and all gain but of course it was less severe the lower the volume/gain but was still present. I thought maybe i could have received a bad sub so i got it exchanged. I originally ordered a dual 4 ohm and got a dual 2 ohm which was not too bad since i could still use it but the replacement i received is a dual 4ohm and does not fit in my box. The dual 2 ohm did but the dual 4ohm does not. No idea why the impedance would make a difference on depth. Got the new sub in today and it still makes this noise. I am starting …

The ssa store lists the sa-12 requiring 1week build time, so if I order 2 in the next couple weeks I won't have to wait a few months for them? Only reason I ask is I saw several other sundown resellers showing them out of stock and what not. Thanks

I have the chance to grab a NIB SA-12 D2 for a decent price. I want to run a single sub in my Jeep. The amp I am going to be using for now is the Audiopipe AP-1000D. I want to run more then 300w to the sub but that is all the amp is rated for at 4ohm but if I run the sub/amp at 1ohm I can get 1000w. Is this ok to do with this sub/amp pairing? If not I'll get a D4 and run it at 2ohm and 700w. As far as the box...I am thinking about doing a sealed box. My plans for the system are SQ and I would also like to save some cargo space by doing a sealed box. Other than ensuring the airspace is correct...is there any affect on the sound/performance related to the shape of the box? …

Minimal break-in time... just a few minutes on the bench: RE (Series): 4.33 ohms Fs: 30.3 Hz Qes: 0.519 Qms: 7.250 Qts: 0.484 Le: 4.743 mH Vas: 29.077 L BL: 22.168 NA Cms: 89.22 uM/N Mms: 308 g Took a few minute break from shipping 4500s and measured these bad boys... I expect Fs to drop to 25 Hz or so with full break-in... which will take probably a week or so of play on these.

The Dual-2 SA-12s will be in stock shortly... likely within 7-14 days -- along with the second shipment of the Dual-4 version. I've had alot of people anxiously awaiting the Dual-2 version so I thought I would let everyone know

Quick question. I know the recommended is 1 cube, but what is the smallest size box you can use for an SA-12 with 1-1.2k watts rms? Thanks!

Sundown SA-12 Review - DIY Mobile Audio "I have had this sub for a few days now and am finally getting a chance to really give it a good listening to, mainly on my commute to and from work and this evening i finally had some time to just sit in the car and play some random tracks. The car is a 2008 Scion xB, the sub is in the rear cargo area in a 2cu ft ported enclosure tuned to 29hz (I will be updating my build thread with that info as well) Sub is on the drivers side facing the hatch port is on the passenger side facing the wall which was recommended to me and works VERY well. Build quality is outstanding, great fit and finish on all parts. Nice thick paper cone, stiff …

Hey guys, Seems like everything is selling out this month -- that happens when sales climb WAY faster than expected I suppose SA-12 stock is low but I have TWO production runs on order back to back. I easily sold 2-3x more than I predicted of these -- so thanks to all of the new and existing Sundown customers who are supporting our new SA line woofers. We are growing really fast this year so I apologize for the low stock / out of stock at this time -- I am working to get inventory lined out for the updated demand, though!

SA 12 swap out from Treo TSX - SMD Forum Originally posted by kr15 on my SMD Forum : (All italics text posted by kr15) Summary : 1.2 dB up with the SA-12 ----- Well I have an SA 12 in the mail from Jacob. I am currently running a Tsx at 2ohm on a MBQ 1500d, so 800rms or so. The Treo is in an optimal box for TSX specs. The SA will also be in an optimal box. This is in a trunk car...When sub gets here and after I break it in some, I will post numbers from the swap. Both subs will have recieved 800rms, and both subs will have been in enclosures made to specs so I feel the comparison is pretty fair. The TSX is only rated at 400rms, but thats a joke. It has a 2.5inch c…

What box type would you guys reccomend for 2 SA-12's on a Saz-2500D? I have a normal ported box around 3.5 cubes tuned to 35 hz that i'm gonna put them in when I get them but would like to start designing a new box so I can get it designed and built as soon as possible. Not looking for numbers just a loud and low daily driver. I know 4th orders are really efficient if designed right. But what about 6th orders and I don't know much about horns but would love to learn. I have up to 6 cubic feet to play with, Extended cab Ford Ranger no wall so its a wide and tall box not very deep Short version 4th Order Bandpass 6th Order bandpass T-line Horn Which is best for a loud dail…

Hello SSA, I was pulling my woofers out to look at like I do every once in awhile since they aren't installed yet, and I noticed (not for the first time, but was reminded) that one has the cooling ring with "Sundown Audio" incribed and the other does not. (It has three holes which I assume are for the same purpose) I was wondering if that would cause problems later down the road or if it significantly affects power handling? I've been meaning to Email Jacob but haven't gotten to it, and I know that'll probably be everyone's answer but I just wanted to ask here. Thanks in advance. EDIT: A little background info. One was bought sometime in...October I think from Woofersetc.…

All, I am looking into running 2) SA-12s in my 2012 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. I do not want to loose my entire trunk with a large ported enclosure and also, I prefer the sound of sealed enclosures. I am not a SQ freak but I like the tight bass, with some boom if I crank it up. I am limited to 1000-1200W RMS. They will be getting 600W each @ 2 Ohms. My question is this - the Sundown website recommends 1.0 ft^3. I listen to mostly rap, R&B, electronic, with some metal mixed in there. 1) Should I be going slightly larger than recommended to retain my lows (e.g. 1.25 ft^3)? 2) I can't find much info on the SA-12s in sealed enclosures. Anybody running these sealed? How…

Any update on the shipment of SA-12s that were coming in???? Im really trying to get some new subwoofers soon and Ive had my eye on these as well as some fusion jonah lamu subs and am close on pulling the trigger....people say I should not get the fusions as they are almost 5 year old subwoofers and it would be better to get something completely brand new....If the SA-12s are any closer to going up for sale again then I will def hold off on purchase...
