Thanks for taking the time to read this and give advice! Currently I have 2 SA-12D4's in my car, each ran by a separate MTX 1501d amp. Each sub should be getting about 750 watts at 2 ohms, and is in a 1.75 ^ft ish ported box each (or atleast close). I started with the pair of subs and 1 amp before before adding on the second amp. Here is my issue. These amps can handle 1 ohm loads and is currently seeing 2; thus the subs are not getting the power they deserve. I am torn between 2 thoughts I'm hoping you can help me out with. Should I replace my 2 current sa-12d4's with the 2 ohm models and really push them, or would I be better off buying 2 more 4 ohm models and addin…

Hello. I've got a ported 5.3 cu.ft box and 1.6k amp (my box is 1.1 cf ports and 4.2 cf for the sub) which sub would be better with my setup? the Z v3 15" or the 18" ? also I've got XS power D2400 battery. I cant get a bigger box, thats the maximum box size that I can have. is my mono will be enough for that sub? (can't change it, I'm out of budget) is that box is enough for the 18" ? if not, is it good for the 15" or is it too big? * car details: I have a Fiat Grande Punto (small car. hatchback) and my box is slanted front if it matters. Amp: Celestra FA1.6k Thanks, Udi.

  4. Some of you may know that I was going to get Sundown X 12s and then decided to get 2 10s because I couldn't fit 2 12s properly since they require a much bigger box and I'm kinda limited on room. I decided to have subs/port facing rear and have my battery and amps up closer to the front and build an amp rack there. I have a box design for the 10s here it is: Sundown recommends a much larger box (1.5-2.0 cubes per 10) to utilize the new surround and suspension. It will get much more excursion then. Also minimum required port area for these 2 10s is 75in2. Well I've been thinking since I have a height of 17 and a width of 34 I could fit 2 15s on the face. However, the…

Watsup fellas, so I got a new Sundown SA12D4 after I blew my other one and I got some questions in regards to setting gains to prevent this from happening again. So my setup consist of a single sundown SA12d4 in a ported box 1.75 cubes tuned at 35hz, wired at 2ohm to an Alpine MRX-M110 (rated 1100rms @ 2ohms), and Kinetic HC2000 w/ knuconceptz 4g kit. So i set my gains with a DMM using the equation squareroot(rms×ohm impedance). Since my amp is more powerful I downgained and used the rms rating for the sub instead of the amp in the equation which gave me squareroot(600×2ohm)=34.64voltage. What I'am wondering is if id be able to raise the gain past that to perhaps squa…

  7. I have a few quick question about the sub box that I am going to be building. First I have two SA-10 D4's wired down to 1Ohm, being powered by a SAZ-1500V3, currently have a crappy prefab enclosure. Though the subs still sound great I know they can be much louder. I have used a few online calculators as well as design software to build a basic ported box. I just want to verify that the box design I have will be sufficient. I've been playing with some numbers and I'm curious about port recommendations as far as width and length Current Box design is a simple ported box with a side slot vent, subs are sharing air space. I'm using RE audio Box calculator specs are Wid…

  9. First one is complete. This should take care of alot of common and uncommon questions about our woofer dimensions. I am looking into printing them at full scale on our packing boxes as well. I'll be adding them to the X thread when the X drawings are done and will also add them to our site for pretty much every model woofer we make.

I'm running two Sundown amps, now discontinued, an SAX 50.4 for front coaxes and then lineout from that into an SAZ 1000D for the subwoofer. One of the front inputs on the 50.4 broke off, so for a temporary fix, I just ran the outputs from the stereo into the rear inputs. It was just the other day however, that I noticed I no longer had any bass coming from the sub. Now before I go tearing everything apart to see what's wrong, my first instinct was to assume that the line output of the 50.4 receives it's signal from the left and right front inputs. So if I'm using the rear inputs only, no signal to send out to the sub amp. Would this assumption be correct? I really …

  12. Our ETA is roughly the end of June on these; as always this can vary a bit based on parts supplier production times, transit times, customs times, etc. Based on our average shipping time that is our best estimate. That being said this pre-order will ONLY be open to the public until April 15th, 2013 -- OR until a given size / coil configuration sells 50% of the quantity being produced. I do not want to be out of stock instantly so we are running this much shorter than our other pre-orders. This pre-order is for the USA ONLY -- check with your distributor if you are outside of the USA; if you do NOT have a distributor in your country you can check with us. The below rates…

  13. So I just purchased a Sundown SA12D4 installed it and had about an hour worth of play before it decided to go out on me that same day. I have it hooked up to an Alpine MRX M110 rated at 1100 rms at 2ohm, wired with kunconceptz kolossus flex 4 gauge kit, Kinetik hc2000 for power source (battery is located in the back), and a ported enclosure 1.75 cubic feet tuned at 35hz. I had the gain a little less than half to break sub in first when it started to smell really bad then almost immediately it blewi think and now it sounds like crap. Ive had these subs before amd over powere them without any issues. Do you think its worth the hassle going through the warranty exchange...…

  15. I currently have installed in my 2006 QX56 an saz-1200d and a sa-15 d2 in a ported enclosure 3.45 ft cubed tuned to 35 hz. I have 0 gauge running to the back the big 3 all in 0 gauge. I have an xspower d5100r up front and a d680 on the way for the back, gets here today. My stock bose actually over plays my current set up so probably going to leave it like it is until I have to upgrade as everything ties into the stereo. I found a deal I could not pass up on a saz-1500d v2 and now have to attempt figuring out how to make the right upgrade to make my SUV pound. What would be a way of setting up a system with these 2 amps? I was thinking of several ways, but would …

We've had some e-mail system glitches at the shop. I've been discussing it on our Facebook page the last few days -- the long of the short is that if you sent a message before February 1st and didn't get a response there is a HIGH likelihood that your message was lost; it is not being ignored but it simply isn't here. Our e-mail volume was too much for consumer e-mail programs and they freaked out a bit... various database problems. In any event our new Zendesk support ticket system for our e-mails is working very smoothly; we fired it up yesterday. If you have an e-mail in that is older than February 1st please re-send it to one of these @sundownaudio.com addresses; bran…

So to make a long story short I have a polk amp that puts out 573 watts rms. The rated rms level for the e 12 is 400 and my amp can't even push it. I don't know if it is because the sub hasn't broken in yet or if because this sub is simply a Badass. Anyway the point I am trying to make is... Thanks Jacob for making a beast subwoofer. Now just time to get a more Badass amp to push this bad boy.

I have a 2012 Silverado Crew Cab, with limited space under the seat, and don't want to raise the seat. I found a pre-made box that basically represents how much space I have to work with, and it just so happens to have measurements with it. 51" wide, 17 3/4" deep, 9 1/8" high in front, 5 1/8" high in back. http://www.audioenhancers.com/vehiclespecific/crew180.php I also saw this box, and got an idea. http://subthump.com/Chevrolet-GMC-Sub-Boxes/Silverado-Sierra-Crew-Cab/07-Up-New-Body-Style-GM-Crew-Cab-Quad-8-Front-Fire-Box.html If I took the measurements of the first box and built a box for two forward firing SA8 V2's using 3/4" MDF, is there an aeroport configuration por…
