Sundown Audio

So what's involved in refurbing an amp? I wouldn't mind snatching up that 1500D, but I don't want to lay down four bills, only to be stuck with a large paperweight just out of the 90 day warranty. Jacob, hows the reliability rate with the refurbs?

Well, hi to everyone at sundown. From what I can find it seems that this amp isn't quite out yet? I currently have 2 memphis 4ks, and was about to buy 2 more, but I'm wondering if there is something better out there before investing memphis. There was mention of a pre-order of 3ks for ~900each, which if I could dump off the 4ks quick enough I would be interested in buying 4 of them if its beneficial. After reading the thread on testing it seems they put out close to 4k at 1ohm, 14.4v? Please correct me if I'm wrong. While bias can be expected on a product forum, I'd really like to get some more info on these amps. Everyone seems to love the 1500s, and I've heard nothing b…

  6. hi everyone need some advice on a custom built box for a single 12 inch sa-12 2 ohm sub. I'll be building the box with 3/4 mdf wood and the space i have to work with is 41 inches from left to right and 17 inches in depth. the car the sub Will be going in is a 2001 kia sportage ex small size suv and the amp i will be useing is a pyle plad3300d which puts out 1200 to 1300 watts at one ohm. now i never built me a custom vented box before but i have built a few sealed boxes in the past so my skill level for building a vented box is low. the music i listen to is rap and hip hop and my goal is to more daily driving and a little competition so i want the most spl i can get but w…

My next build will consist of 4 SA-8's with whichever coil options I need to see either a 1 ohm or 2 ohm final imp. Box will be 2.4^3 net tuned to 32Hz subs up port back. I already have an AP15001D so I could get a second and make an AP30001D. Would be cheaper than the AQX2500.1, but I don't know if the 8's will take 750 a piece daily. I know the AQX2500.1 would be pushing it already. I have ran double rms to an AA Chaos 15 with my AP15001D without any problems. So I know how to watch my system for signs of stress and properly control my volume and gain. Electrical will consist of 140 amp HO Alt, Optima Red Top under the hood, Big 3 in 1/0, 1 run of 2/0 positive from fro…

I understand that the 100.4 is 4 ohm stable when bridging. My question is, say I were to bridge the amplifier at 2 ohm putting out the same power as if it were at 4 ohm. So 320 x 2 at 2 ohm instead of 320 x 2 at 4 ohm. Would this still be unstable? The speakers are rated at 320 watts rms as well. The reason I am asking is I can get the same speaker in a 2 ohm version at half the price of the 4 ohm version. Thanks guys!

Well I am going too try my luck in Meca when the next season starts in their amateur street class. I am going to do AS1 or AS2 not sure yet, and I just joined up with Team Apocalypse. The equipment being used is one 15" AudioQue HD3 and a Sundown 1500D or 3000D depending on which class I am in. I am just playing around for now with fuses but here is a vid of my HD3 in a 32hz box and one 1500D. What ever class I am in is looking promising right now. Sundown FTMFW

  13. Shop will be partially closed next week. We will still respond to as many e-mails as possible and as many products as possible will go out. We will not be open for phone calls or be at 100% shipping / building capacity. Don't worry, though, after next week we'll be back to work and we'll have an extra worker at least for the summer ! Also -- bit of a hiccup this week. My accounting / book keeping computer went out over the weekend. I ordered a power supply for it next day air yesterday -- still waiting on it to arrive to start going through orders to enter and ship. Hoping it arrives before lunch so I can get some work done today!

hey quick question can you run the 3000ds daily on a 16-18 volt system. i think jacob 4 3500ds on six 16 volts right, do u think that many batteries would be necessary with just the two 3000ds. also I can turn my voltage up to charge such a system.I see that the 4 channel that sundown makes only runs up to 16 volts will it hurt it at like 16.5 17.5. I figured it would just be cheaper to sell my yellow tops and switch to 16-18 volts and get more power from what I have. but I would also need a four channel that can run on such a system. (if there is one) what does anyone suggest.

  22. Hey there! I have this awesome little subwoofer that i have barely used more than a few hours - and the surround in a small area is comming up from the landing. i heard chuffing in a sealed box with the grommet and thought there was an air leak. upon further inspection i came to notice that the surround was not fully adhered to the basket surround landing! this is a project for a customer of mine, and i have already sent an email into you via your web support contact form - but this is kind of an emergency, as i am supposed to be finishing the fiberglass box for him this weekend - i am about 50% done with it and i am going to push forward with the baffle and port still -…
