I've got a couple of questions for ya. I recently purchased an saz1500 with the intent of running only one SA8 (d2). Which I have already purchased too. The goal is a tight musical system for daily driver. The concept for the box - install is to build box tall and set in the corner of the hatch back leaving room for groceries. I have approximately 2 cu ft to work with. I would like to have the ported box portion on top of a battery compartment using the same enclosure. Here are some questions 1. Will I have battery problems because of the vibes from the box? 2. Will 1500 be too much for one 8? 3. Is a second battery needed? Vehicle 2009 Honda Fit Stock HU Stoc…

wierd ? i have a saz 1500d and was wondering, if i smell a woofer going up in smoke should i be shutting it down to prevent dmg to my amps ? or am i ok to just let it go up in smoke and push it harder untill it goes all the way . i know about the protection built into the amps but that doesn't allways mean that i'd be ok. if it is considered ok to smoke subs without dammaging the amp, could you safely burn sub after sub after sub and still be ok. would love to here jakes take on this too. i would never even consider this with any other amp, but these sundown amps are soooo darn tough that it dawned on me it might be posible. how about you guys at comps, when you blow sub…

Currently I have plans for a box with these specs: Net Volume: 2.5 Tuning Freq: 32 Port L: 34.5 Port H: 16.5 Port W: 2.5 Port area 41 inches Port area/cubic foot 15.88 It's a sundown X12 dual 2 ohm paired with my SAZ-2000D. It's going a 2000 F150 with the sub and port firing upwards. I plan for a double baffle. Will I have enough port area and does that seem like a decent box? Here's the plans and pictures: http://imgur.com/a/9zqJN I'm planning a H/O alternator most likely mechman 240A or 270A. Does this look okay?

Thanks to the Sundown folks for answering all my stupid "rookie" install questions. This was my first install and I did everything but build the box. My emails were all answered within 20 minutes or less. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Those Nightshades are going to rip my little CRV apart. Here is the finished product. (Well almost. I haven't gotten the 100.4 hooked up yet)

I took some flex videos today. Not nearly as powerful as Meade or Assman, etc..... But not to bad for 2000 watts of Sundown power and two 15's that are 600 watt RMS from a trunk car. Playing Airforces by Jeezy. Can't wait to get my other subs so I can get more power in the car. http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk91/ba...rrent=Flex1.flv http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk91/ba...rrent=Flex2.flv Edit: It looks better in person.

I'm going to build a ported box for two and need to know if the ported box volume spec (0.6 cuft tuned to 30Hz) is net or gross.

Hey guys I have some fast questions to ask!! 1. Lets say I used 8 gauge from amp to sub box terminals, then 2-12gauge runs from terminals to subs(yes 2 subs)? What I want to do is run 8awg from the amp to the terminals then from there 2 runs of 12gauge, 1 run per sub. I think this will work b/c 8awg can support 75amps and 12gauge can support 40amps (since 2 runs40x2=80amps) since there is 2 runs which will be hooked in parellel and in parellel we know current divides up I should be okay? but wait in parrel each run will see the same voltage of... o well input is needed here lol! the currnet which the 8gauge will see will be a peak of 50amps. I ask b/c i have a ton of 1…

10,320 watts from my pair @ 1.5 ohms each actual impedance after rise, starting at 0.5 DCR 5160 each 17.9 volts rest - did not measure voltage drop yet This is similar to what I got from the 3000s at a rise to ~1 ohm or below Will post more when I get more results.

Newest production run arrived a few weeks ago -- we changed the output FETs to the same parts the newest 3500Ds are using (more powerful) and made a few other small tweaks. 0.5 ohm performance is now just as good as the v.1 1500D while maintaining the slightly better 1 ohm performance that we had already achieved on the v.2 model. I don't have any 1500D v.1s around the shop right now so I'm using previously tested data : 1500D v.1 POWER : 1970 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 49.25 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 40 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.23 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 12.85 V 1500D v.2 POWER : 2030 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 47.4v V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 42.…

The amps are in California at the moment from our current update (just now) -- they should arrive at our shop shortly after CES. I know some people have been anxiously awaiting this ! Here are a few pics of a complete product from the factory :

Just to fill you guys in... I've been working on a TON of things for Sundown for the future... hoping to see many of these things next year! I am going to discuss woofer related plans here... things I didn't really mention much in the "New Stuff Coming to Sundown" thread. ----- As you can see the E8 v.2 is available for pre-order now -- I am going to fill out the E line with 10s and 12s. Like the SA line the 8" motor is unique in the line... the 10s and 12s will have a larger motor, smaller than the SA series, though, but also with a 2.5" coil. The coil will be shorter and the depth of the 10" model will be around 4.25-4.5" or so for depth restricted applications. They wi…

First off... I have to ask: will it be as efficient as a brand new one? Secondly... what voltage should I expect the true 1K RMS @ 1-ohm?

So... I've been suffering with horrible front speakers ever since I sold my BMW 325i a few years back. Due to the nature of the audio business I have been implementing SPL system in my Jeep (the whole reason I got it) and neglecting the front stage. NO MORE! Finally something decent... Ok i'm trying to get down to around 6-6.5 cubes net. but the dimensions i came up with won't work because the subs will be basically sitting on the ports. I've went over so many different dimensions and they're all coming out to around 7-7.5 cubes after port and sub. I wanna do subs up ports back, will be using 4 4" full length aero's. i've got a max of 24" high 37" wide and 24" deep to work with. Someone give me a hand, as i want to start this build tomorrow. If it matters this will be for straight daily and bass race. Also, it will be going in a 2001 2dr. blazer Thanks

Hey guys, I bought some E8s a long time ago and haven't had time to install them in a vehicle yet. I'm looking to build a ported box for two of them and was using a calculator online to help me figure out how big to make the port. The box is for two E8s (they displace .03 ft3 each right?) and I'm trying to build it so each sub gets .6 ft3 of airspace and the port is tuned to 30 hz (like the sundown website recommends). I can get the internal dimensions right at 1.2 ft3 (a little more actually to accommodate the displacement of the sub) but the port is only a 2"x2" square 8" long. Does that seem right? Could I make it 1"x4" rectangle or even .5"x8"? Or would that caus…

Hi, i thought of trying some stuff from sundown audio. I need two setups: 1) The first one is for my girlfriends car and i thought of using 2 e8's powered by one saz 1000d, wired to 2 ohms is 300 watts per woofer... 2) Second is perhabs for me... I have one BTL 15'' right now powered by one RFt2000bd... But this lil beast takes too much space in my trunk... If i use 4 e8's on the t2000k strapped down to 1 ohm thats 500 per woofer, is that too much?? or should i better use 1 nightshade 12''?? Or more e8's? I don't want to go bigger than 2.5 - MAX 3 cubes after port replacement...! I hope you guys understand my bad language and can help me buying equipment from Sundown. I'…

Never owned Sundown before but I researched for almost a month all kinds of amplifiers. Price wasn't as big of a concern to me as quality. I read countless posts about Sundown on the internet and never came across a single negative about them. So I decided I'd power my system with Sundown. I preordered the SAE-1200D knowing I'd have to wait a month or so to get it. That was a tough decision too because I hate to wait. I paid for that last night and today I go to check my e-mail and I see a UPS tracking notification. I then see another e-mail from Jacob Fuller which says he is sending me my SAE-1200D already! They say 1st impressions mean a lot and I have to say my 1st im…
