Sundown Audio

I got a sundown saz-1000d in trade.since dont have any subs yet i unhook my four channel amp to see if the amp worked. when i turn my radio on the fuses pop.i only hook up the power and ground the remote wire and the rca up.i was thinking it could be doing this because im using 8ga wire and i have a 80 amp fuse under the hood. when i hook my four channel amp back up to the same wires it works just fine. i went to the part store and to get my fuses and everyone pop on me.i replace the fuse with 25 amp fuses.what could be causing my fuses to pop?

I know not all are created equal, but will the RF 1/0 4700+ strand wire fit like it does in my power T series amp?

I should be able to wire up my 100.2 to the RL-i8 DVC 4 in the next few days, and I just wanted to make sure I understand all of my options. When I was talking to denim about the 100.2, I think he mentioned that I could bridge it and then wire the RL-i8 in series at 8 ohm. He says the 100.2 pushes out more than it's rated for (500W bridged?). Even at 8 ohms, 250W should be enough to drive the sub for daily SQ use. Unless I'm mistaken, shouldn't I also be able to wire it in parallel at 2 ohms for the full 400-500W? I would just as soon leave it in series and let the amp run cooler, providing it can push the sub adequately, but I wouldn't mind trying the higher output j…

The Z v.2 woofers are back in stock. There have been a few revisions made : 1) The top shorting ring has been removed -- but the internal ring was upgraded from aluminum to copper. 2) The coil windings changed from 4-layer flat aluminum to 4-layer round bifilar copper -- this lowers Fs a bit and I tested no loss in efficiency at lower power and a small gain at high power. Coil is a bit more robust than the aluminum was as well due to additional mass. Copper also has a lower thermal expansion to accommodate the Z v.2 tight gap. As the title says, do the new SAX-100.2's have the new heatsink on them yet? I'm wondering because I already have a SAZ-1500D and a SAX-100.4 with the new heatsink and would like a matching SAX-100.2 to go with them.

I've been havin to measure a few amp's outputs recently to measure wattage output and actual resistance at a given note for competition. All the amp's i've ever tested, i always have the user keep it at the same volume level for several seconds so i can get an average voltage and amperage reading sinec these numbers always fluctuate due to resistance changing and voltage dropping... Well, i had the opportunity to measure a sundown SAZ-3000D over the weekend.. and i've NEVER seen an amp remain constant throughout the whole test! So I hooked up my 100.4. I'm running 4 10 inch RE re's. I ran the subout rcas to the channels 1 and 2 and then ran 3 and 4 off the line outs. I'm using a dmm to tune the amp so I first put the 80hz 0db tone on at a low volume to set my low pass. speakers not hooked up and get all the way down. i stuck the dmm into the pos and neg of the channels 1 and 2 as if bridged. I got a reading of like .725V AC max and turned the low pass knob down until it started to change and figured that must be set at 80hz then. next I read each channel just to compare. they were .36 and .349V. So I just got my SAE-1200D in the mail and installed it. Im pretty sure I installed everything correctly. This is far from my first time wiring an amp. The issue I had was that I couldn't get any sound from the subs so I started trouble shooting. I had good power, ground and remote cause the little green light was coming on, I checked my wiring for the subs and everything checked out there so I figured the problem must be in the RCAs. I check the HU to make sure the subs were turned on and they were. I broke out a new set of RCAs and ran them unimpeded to the amp and still got nothing. Hey jacob, what kind of crossovers will the 250.2 have? will it have crossovers so it can be used in a high powered component setup or will it be a sub amp? Or both?

would the sd subs work in .5 cf. i cant find he spec its under a seat in a truck.

Z v.3 Line SOLD OUT We have more motors due end of May to first of June. Demand for these has really been incredible... by far our best selling large subwoofer in company history. I have several production runs of motors in place to attempt to keep up with demand so hopefully we don't run out again for some time.

Will mixing 2 different sub models produce any cancellation if they are in seperate enclosures and same size? ie, Using a SA-12 and a Z v.3 12"; strange question I know, but can't find info on it.

Hey guys, Seems like everything is selling out this month -- that happens when sales climb WAY faster than expected I suppose SA-12 stock is low but I have TWO production runs on order back to back. I am considering an Eclipse CD7200 Mk II, which has 8v pre-outs. I'm wondering if there is going to be a compatibility issue since sundown amps are specified for up to 6 volts.

Somewhere I saw a post or an article, I think by Jacob, that was telling about Sundown amps having issues with certian RCAs and working better with some... Can someone direct me to this article or info??? I did try the "Search" button, but got no love....

Ok I am runnign the single SD1v2 sealed in my MINI and it sounds great! I also have 4 more and was thinking about running them ported off of a 1000d or a 1200d in my wifes car or my 4runner. Any suggestions for a ported enclosure for 4 of them? I have 2 4" areo's to use, how much airspace for the set? Thanks all! David
