So it is a bit confusing due to several updates along the way... so the above should help out when ordering a re-cone kit. We need to know what version you have to built the correct kit. Aside from the box printing being a bit mis-leading it's not super hard to understand using the above picture. The 60 unit run of "v.2" woofers (v1.75) was only sold to a few people who knew up front about what they were -- I just had the factory put v.2 on the box so we would know what they were as we unloaded the truck. But I am sure someone will get one of them second hand. They can be re-coned to standard v1.5 parts with copper coil and hard spider. As the photo indicates the baskets …

Starting a thread on this based on some questions we've had... any further inquiries post them up and we'll see about getting some photos up. So... any re-cone questions post them up. ----- 1) New large wire terminal installation : It is critical to have this facing the correct direction -- otherwise the cone and spider can batter the tab and break it off. You can also experience mechanical noise if they are not aligned in this manner. * These new terminals fit much larger wire. * The black terminal is incorrect -- the red terminal is correct and set out to the side. * To install the leads first split the terminal with a small cutting pliers * Then spread the opening …

I'm going to be powering 2ea Fully Loaded 4" Voice Coil FI Audio BL15's (1,500rms ea) and I currently have a Rockford Fosgate Power 2500bd-1 Amp but i'm curious how the Sundown SAZ-2500, SAZ-3500 and the SAZ-4500 Compare to the Power 2500. I have 2 power 2500's right now still in the box which box say over 3,100 watts ea at 1ohm. The biggest reason I ask about the comparison is the cost of the SAZ-4500 is the same cost at the Power 2500. Is there just too much brand name mark up in the Power 2500 or is it a solid amp for the money? My Power 2500 Birth Sheets say...

Developing a 600-watt RMS 8" woofer with fully custom frame, cone, surround, spider, etc... Frame supports ~35mm one-way linear travel and the soft parts support that as well. Design is motor limited to 19mm linear one-way and 30mm before leaving the gap -- so it will be VERY difficult to reach mechanical limitations even by accident on SPL burps. The soft parts, frame, and so forth are VERY over-engineered to support any future motor designs I may desire to produce... meaning you may see a true high linear stroke "SQ" style design with these parts later on -- but first we are staying true to Sundown heritage and designing a super rugged "daily" woofer that will produce e…

I'll throw up a few pics tomorrow. We still have it in the ghetto test box, but it actually sounds quite good... two 1500s strapped @ 2 ohms are powering it, I have my primary battery, factory alternator, and two Powermaster D3100s backing them up. Metered 144.1 dB @ 52 Hz in the test box - which is really terrible on the meter - same box in the YouTube videos of the monster. I'd like to get it into a smaller box and strap the 1500s down really low and see what she'll do - then strap some 3000s on it What surprised me the most is how good it sounds - obviously its not an SQ woofer but, it sounds quite good. Certainly does not sound like an extreme fart-cannon sub by any …

Box size has alot to do with mechanical power handling. If you are going to be pushing your woofer beyond it's rated RMS power you need to be very mindful of this fact and put the woofer in no larger than the minimum suggested enclosure for music program. We design our woofers for very small enclosures and power ratings are there for a reason -- you can continue to push a driver like the SA-8 beyond RMS power and it will not be stressed whatsoever thermally by the time you can cause mechanical issues. The motor, especially on the SA-8, is VERY strong -- being an 8" driver there is limited mechanical throw available. The driver retains high motor force all the way up to th…

  24. What's up guys, I have a 00 jeep grand cherokee. I have two crescendo 5500s and three zv4 18s which I'll be selling for two nsv3 18s. This is my first wall I'm building and I want to make sure I'm using the right ratio and box size. I was thinking of using a 3:1 ratio and anywhere from 2.5-3 cubes sealed per woofer and 15-18 ported for the pair with a 25-47hz range. Any help or suggestions is much appreciated.

  25. I know it is said a 100 times a day... "with impedance rise you are going to be over 1 ohm anyway" when talking about a half ohm load or lower on a daily system. Sure... if you constantly played individual sine waves one at a time. But, is that what music is? --- http://www.audiograph.se/subpages/technical/whatmakesagoodamplifier.htm "The upper graph illustrates the conventional way of measuring the loudspeaker impedance. The lower graph illustrates the dynamical approach. We took a commercial ’off-the shelf’ loudspeaker and did a standard impedance plot for it. We swept the frequency from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, measured the input voltage and current, and calculated the impeda…
