Figured I should start a build log since I've gone through so much trial and error in getting this stereo to sound good. I'm already done with most things but I did take pictures along the way so i'll get that all uploaded when i get photobucket or imgur figured out. I bought my passat almost a year ago, the weekend after black Friday to be exact, and knew immediately that it needed some love in the bass department. I had a rockford p-300-12 powered enclosure lying around that i once had mounted in a big self-propelled sprayer that i basically lived in for 3 summers, threw that in along with a rockford loc, rockford rca's, and some ebay 4ga cca to get it powered. …

So a week ago i designed this then built it with my dad for my brothers truck, a 94 s10 reg cab. The sub sits under the dash facing up and port is behind passenger seat. With polyfill it should be ~2 cubes @ 32hz its kind of crude and we couldnt afford the room for 45's or bracing, but it sounds really good and pretty even through a broad frequency range. My brother hasnt decided on a finish yet so its staying bare wood/caulk/putty/nails for a while... SPL testing will hopefully be the day before thanksgiving

This is a good buddies build. I got him hooked up with Mark to order 2 zcon 18s and 2 crescendo 5500s. Mark came through very fast on delivery. This blazer already had a 6th order for 2 IA dp21s. Doing decent numbers. But when we put the zcons in holy shit! We played with the back ported section and bumped up the volume a bit changing the ratio. In testing before the last show we managed a 159.5 and at the show after demos and playing around he was able to put up a 158.7 official score. I don't have a lot of the build pics since it had the 6th when I met him. Here's a few from the show.

RE SEX 12s and Ported box.... paid $365 for the 2 subs and the box and then $280 for the amp... so $645 for everything.... im happy... its just a prefab box but i dont care really how loud this car gets as long as it sounds ok lol..car already has powerbass 6.5s up front and powerbass 6x9s in the back....plus it came stock with tweeters in the A pillar so the SQ is really good imo... 2 12" RE SEX Subs: 3 Cubic Ft. A friend of mine from work listened to my setup about two weeks ago, he said he wanted better sound in his car but couldn't spend much, I asked his budget and he gave me ~$300 as a limit, so I told him I'd get something for him. I worked on a design, and approached him with a 12" SSA DCON S4, a Rockford Fosgate 200.2, and an enclosure 2.25 cubes tuned to 32 Hz. He liked it, and gave me the go ahead. The amplifier was the first to arrive, no pictures of it though because it was shipped to his house. Then we got the DCON, and I much say it's an impressive driver. I wouldn't consider it entry level at all! It is extremely well built, now time for the woofa porn My dog …

Hey guys it's spring break so it's time to start working on my truck again. For those that do not know I drive a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Ext. Cab 5.9L Laramie SLT. It may be old but it's only got 45K miles on it. Anyway I plan on removing everything and rebuilding from the ground up. I will be using the same equipment and box, but I will make everything neater and more professional. Over this weeks break I plan on repainting my box, carpeting my amp rack and rear seat combo, installing SDS CLD Tiles, Plasti dipping all chrome and silver parts, along with either an exhaust install or new headlights and hids (or both). Along with these upgrades and installs I plan on adding ple…

Its a little early as I have not even purchased the subwoofers yet but I'm excited! So here is the plan. Ill be running my 2004 Impala in the street trunk class so I'm limited to 4000 watts. I'll be running two 15" Icons with a nice big aeroport. Still trying to figure out amplifier situation but the Crescendo 3500d seems like a good choice. Full 0 gauge with a group 31 in the trunk. Hoping to do a lot of testing, and have a lot of fun. Representing SSA in the Great White North.

Eh i thought i might as well post up my crappy work so far. I am by no means the kind of person that tries to make shit look good from start to finish. As long as it looks great at finish, functions properly, and is pretty well built then i'm ok with it This is going in a 2004 Silverado ECSB. Total vol. will be est. @ 5.2. I'm going to tune lower than i want @ 31hz and expect it to be more at 33-34hz just because that always seems like what happens and that's where i prefer it anyway. Yes that is 1/2" mdf. I had a whole sheet sitting in the shop so i'm going to use that and fiberglass over it so it'll be closer to 3/4. The subs are mounted up and port facing forward wit…

There are two things I have never had since I got "serious" into car audio. A 10" sub, or a decent dual sub setup. So this is my build for two 10" xcons! Im super excited, they should be finished building and arriving soon, I hope. I am fitting the maximum dimensions of my trunk while still being able to fold up the stock floor and access the spare tire. I was left with 3.11 internal cubic feet without sub, bracing, 45s, or port displacement. This is firing into the car, so I also needed the subs and port to be on the same face. The triangle port is unconventional but takes up less volume than a typical slot port inside the box and also has less port wall surfa…

I have a 2005 Honda CR-V EX. This is the stuff I want to get for my system: Head Unit - JVC KD-AVX-44 Sub - 15"Fi Audio Q- Series Front - Phoenix Gold RSD 65CS Rear - Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5 Amp (Sub) - Alpine PDX 1.1000 Amp (Interior) - Phoenix Gold RSD500.4 Enclosure - Made by DCole ( someone from another message board) Install Kit - ??? What is a good Install Kit to use? I know I should use 1/0 guage wires for the kit. I was looking at KnuKoncept Kits, but the one I wanted is sold out. I emailed the company and they said a new kit should be out by the end of the month. So I may end up going with that. Is there anything I left off that i'm going to need? I know I…

Well I decided to ditch my dual 12 set up and go for a single 18 DC Level 4 XL in the back. I've been playing around with designs for the past week and finally settled on something. I went to Menards yesterday, got two sheet of MDF and went to work today. It's 6 cubes tuned to 36hz. After my Ebay sale is done on Sunday I'll order the 18 Monday, then I'm going to wait to attach the second baffle until I can make sure it fits good with the sub, and then come a little testing and Herculiner after I'm happy with everything.
