  3. So some back story I bought the hatch back my senior year of highschool with the intentions of making a loud daily driver setup and ended up getting real involved with build car mainly Hondas. I always helped with other builds but was never able to do what I wanted to mine until now. I did end up getting my setup together as far as audio but the hatch was never what I really wanted it to be. Recently I have become a single man and around the same time I was promoted at work and now make enough to redo my hatch while still providing for my two daughters. Basically I am doing this now because I finally can!! I have been out of the scene entierly too long and I am back now. …

  5. This might be a semi slow build, I have most of the equipment, but I do need a few other things to complete it all. I traded my truck in on a 2012 VW Passat about 6 months ago and I've had a stock stereo since. This will be my first time building a ported box, fis\rst experience with a processor (360.3) and my first experience with a 15" sub (SSA X-CON). The X-CON is Dual 1 ohm, so it should be good on the DC 5.0K at 2 ohms (2300 watts nominal). I am keeping the stock head unit, but adding a Rockford Fosgate 360.3 to control everything. The door speakers will be RF T1675's for now powered by a Kicker 350.4. Knuconceptz wire, XS batteries, Dakota Digital volt meter, Secon…

I've have been getting requests to see what going on with the car since the big audio build, so here are a few pics. No 160 page build log. No 160 dbs. Just having some fun with the car. There will be a little audio but nothing really planned at the moment. Keep in mind this car has not seen daylight since World finals in Indy, 9 months ago. The last month or so I have been restoring the intetior back to new factory. No expense spared here. I wanted every little detail done nice. Carpet, seats, misc trim pieces, ect... Three weeks ago we welcomed our newest addition to the Mead family so a lot of time will be with the family and not in the garage. Now that that's out o…

  7. Hello world. Well, here's my Civic build. It's a simple SQ setup. Front stage: 2way DLS UR6i Sub: mac Audio Aliante 10" Black LTD Front amp: Helix H400 Esprit Sub amp: Steg QM 220.2 Stock HU as signal source and re-used Pioneer P88RS as signal processor. (HU>LOC>P88 aux in) It's an unusual configuration, works for now, but I'm really thinking about an Audison Bit Ten. Doors were deadened with SilentCoat, but I still have some work to do on them. Cables are AWG4, and hand"crafed" RCAs. Here's the car - or egg-shaped rocket ship, as some may call it: Old picture of the dash, pre-install (the same, but OEM tweeters): Overall requirements of the install…

  8. Started by Miles,

I recently aquired a brand new Sundown SA8v2. I talked with Thumper about a variation of an enclosure he built years ago for this sub, but after a lot of thinking, I wanted to do something original. Even though I have way more power than the 8 was designed to handle, I wanted to build a T-Line box. I built one years ago, and it sounded amazing. However, I didn't want to build just another boring rectangle t-line box that just looks like a ported box from the outside... So... I present to you my variation of a t-line box I threw together this evening. It took a couple of days to design it, and I thought it was going to be a nightmare to build, but it actually went toge…

ITS ABOUT TIME. Officially today I finally purchased an 05 black GTI 1.8. So far I am in love with this small little packed hatchback. Overall the body is in excellent condition compared to other GTI's i test drove/looked at. Not to mention the interior is perfect. It is a manual and the clutch feels much better than my Evo. Build log will get started either tonight or tomorrow morning. I am ready and hopefully will be done before Slamology. Audio Equipment will include: DC XL 12s (red caps) Crescendo bc5500 XS batteries -D3100 in back, D3400 in front. DC power SP alt. Lots of deadener (Starting this tomorrow with the hatch.) Got the call from someone local to build a box for his setup. He has 2 SSA Evil 18's on 2 NS-1's at 0.5 ohms a piece, with 4 XS D3100's and a Mechman 270. His current box was initially built for 4 18's (something like 18 cubes net) and stuck WAY above the window line. He wanted a box for just the 2 that he has, a lot smaller box, and something with a little "flair". Well, here it is... Specs: 13.2 cubes net 12" Octaport 32.3 hz Double layered all around (except sides) Window style bracing Bolt terminals Bedlined outside with a fire-engine red port Be sure to watch the video at the end!

  13. I haven't been back to the forum in a long while as I have been quite busy with life, so in the last couple weeks i have gotten rid of my Prizm and picked up an A6 Avant (wagon) today. It has the factory Bose radio system already, so for now I will be using my factory radio. I just ordered the "keys" to remove the radio and later in this coming week I will order a hi/low converter. I found a Boss one online for 10 bucks (good idea?). I also picked up a Memphis Audio 16M1000d. Speaker is a Soundqubed HDC3.0 12" And for right now it's in a 1.8 cubic foot slot ported box tuned to 29 hz. I have a few pics of the car itself to start off my build log, and will try to update as…

  14. This topic is really for my new upcoming build which will be two Sundown Audio SA-12s on a Hifonics BRX 2400.1D sealed off from the trunk. The box is currently being built by Dave The Box Guy, it will have three different tunings with interchangeable ports (20Hz/28Hz/45Hz). For now, while I sit and wait, I am going to post my current set up just to show you all some of the work I have done so far. I don't have all the pictures since some things were done a little while ago such as, deadening, changing my door speakers, wiring etc. but I will eventually tear some things off and show you how I installed everything. Here it is.... Current build: Head unit: Kenwood K…

I'm kinda new to car audio. Right now I'm just running a sundown e8v3 on a boss armor 1500 which actually puts out the ammount I need. Anyway I really want to upgrade and be loud. I'm not about spl and hitting high dbs more about music and perceived loudness. I can work with about 3.5 cubic foot box. I'm considering either a fi q 18 or a fi bl 15. I just need advise on which would be better.

  17. This is my ride ... 1997 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab ... My Chevy is getting a total rebuild. Found a MAJOR water leak and messed up ALOT of stuff. Got the water leak fixed. Now I'm in the process of tearing everything out and starting over. No speakers or electronics dammaged. I just need to replace fiberglass, carpet and other interior stuff. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks ... Randal ... Will be starting on a-pillars and kick pannels and soon as carpet and wiring work done. I will be using a pair of BluesCarAudio 6 1/2s and tweeters powered by a Linear Power 2.2HV.

Hi SSA guys. My friend and I just recently picked up a very cheap car and we are going to turn it into a Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle (ZAV). All of the modifications will be done by hand using readily available materials. This is purely for fun and everybody's enjoyment. First things first, every Zombie car needs a sound system!! So this is what we have done. Searched amazon for some of the cheapest 15" subs we could have shipped. We came upon the Absolute USA SN 2000 subs. $30 shipped each. And to make it even better, found a iPod docking deck for $27 shipped. After that we went and got some wood. 3/4 OSB had the best price. Used left over wire and fuses from previous bui…

Gonna be doing a simple but effective build in my new dually. I just want a decent sounding setup that doesnt break the bank. Plans........ Big 3 Pioneer head unit Probably JL components (i really liked the C5's I put in another build) Custom glassed sealed kick panels 4 channel amp on mids/highs BC 2000 on sub(s) maybe.... unless I choose a big 4 channel to power it all. Looking at running a single 12 or two 10's sealed (space very limited), Sub choices are limited to somewhat shallow subs. I may do the Sundown SD's since I have heard them first hand and they sound ok. Vehicle and photos of interior
