I have always seen to use a 50-60hz sine wave note when setting gains with a DMM. And this is what I did, I downloaded a 50hz and 45hz note from realmofexcursion.com and went to set my gains. The number I was aiming for was 34 volts, and I did it first with the 50hz, and reached 34 volts. But then, out of curiosity I played the 45hz tone and the output voltage went way up. Like around 45 volts. I was not expecting this jump. I always thought the voltage would be higher in the 50-60hz range?

so i went to spl show and wanted to see what my two sq hds200 dual 2ohm that is wired for a 2ohm load and even checked them with d.m.m and shows 2.1ohms but my mtx thunder 1501d older style no elite suppose to do 1500wrms@2ohms with 14.4volts has 2gauge welding wire and at the car audio show it only clamped 844watts. I've seen several topics on this forum and other forums selling the Sundown 4500D for $900-1100 in just opened or unopened condition. Last I remember, they MSRPed for over $1800. I've been away from car audio for a while and I was wondering if there is a big scam out, or the 4500D just isn't what its crack up to be, or whats going on with that?

i have noticed that the new amps have no way of letting you know where you are setting the Freq at... i.e older PPi amps have notched pod switches, so you could count the clicks to let you know what freq: you were setting to !!! if i set the SSF to 24 clicks ( counter clockwise ) i knew it would play no lower than 23Hz and if i set the LP filter to 18 clicks ( counter clockwise ) i would play no higher than 122Hz now they use cheep generic pod switchs, and nothing printed to give the user a clue as to were you are on the freq: graph... WTF happened ? are they saving that much money using the cheeper pod switch ?

What is the reasoning for not putting one on? It should not be that hard or cost effective since many line drivers and whatnot have clipping indicators.

So far in my 2001 Ford Windstar I have: 2 Alpine Type Rs Hifonics Brutus 1200 mono at 1 ohm Kinetik HC1800 under the hood Big three upgrade 0/1 gauge wire I just had a new 250 amp alternator installed. After hooking up the radio my lights STILL dim and looks as though the amp is dipping. Why am I still having this problem? I thought I had gone through all necessary steps but I guess I'm missing something? What is next a second battery? Any help or input greatly appreciated. -CHRIS

I would like to know what makes a alternaor company good verses a crappy one? What makes it charge at 14.4, what determines amps at idle, etc etc. etc.? Basically the innerworkings of a alternator. Would a rebuild kit be better?

Pioneer GM-D8604 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_63974_Pioneer-GM-D8604.html its $140. class d RMS Power @ 4 ohms 100 watts x 4 channels its around $100 cheaper than the next comparable amplifier that has RMS listed and is a decent name brand? Im aware that its class D so, thats part of why its cheaper. But other than that, im worried its bad for some reason because of how cheap it is?

Alright, I just put a new Fi Btl 18 in my 97 dodge ram 2500. It is diesel and has a h/o alternator and duel batteries. I was using a power acustik OVN1 5500D amp. It is connected to a battery with zero gauge wire for both the positive and ground. The gain was only turned up about half way with the BTL running at 1 Ohm. I did not listen to it all that loud, however one day the bass cut out and then the amp started to smoke. I immediately shut off the radio and felt the amp. It was cool to the touch. The amp was only in for a week and had only been used maybe three times.... When I got home I turned the radio back on and the LED indicator came on but no power is coming out …

I need a new amp for my SI Mag. I had a Massive P1000.1 amp running it that does 880W @ 1ohm, but that amp is now powering my newly fixed Adire Brahma MKIII that Fi reconed for me and instead of getting a new amp for the Brahma, I'm thinking about getting one for the Mag. Now here lays the Problem. I'm down to these: Sundown SAE-1000 (1000W @ 1 ohm) - because I know Sundown is high quality. Massive P1500.1 (1250W @ 1 ohm) - because I've never had a problem with the P1000.1 in the year I've used it. and Hifonics BXi1206D (1200W @ 1 ohm) - largely because it's easy on the wallet. I won't ask which one I should get. I'm pretty sure EVERYONE's going to suggest the Sundow…

Here is a video to show my new charging system. The main point of the video, which came to my surprise. But EVEN with a large electircal system, you still may not be supplying enough for your audio equipment. This was an interesting find for myself. At full tilt sort of speak, my vehicle, the vehicle itself, pulls right around 40 amps!!! That is HUGE! haha. That included, headlights which is H.I.D.s, which pulled 10 amps lol, Wiper Full blast, Front heat full blast, rear heat full blast, and interior lights on. So, let's just say I had an stock 80amp Alternator. That means 40 for the vehicle, and only 40 for the audio equipment. That is some huge information to know for y…

i have all hyperflex 0 awg, i have a fuse between the alt and battery, at the beginning of and at the end of the run that connects the yellow top to the kinetiks, and from the kinetiks to the amp rack, which also has a anl fused distro. all fuses are 300amp except the 100amp that goes to the clarion amps. will this cause a substantial voltage drop?
