I haven't done much electrical wise in my new suv and came across so unexpected money. I was wondering should I take the money and by two maybe 3 batteries or buy a quality h/o alt. I'm still running the sundown 2500d. If I buy batteries I plan on running an xs d925 under the hood and an xs d3400 in the back. Thanks guys

I have a small Merlin us amp for my mids in my s10 pick up. Whenever I listen to the radio for even less then 5 minutes when my truck is not started it completely drains the battery to the point where it has to be jumped. I had purchased a new battery and still have the same problem, so I had the battery and altenator tested and they are fine. Nothing else drains the battery except listening to the radio for a very short period of time. What could be the problem, any suggestions? Please help

Currently i have a some JBL components (608C's) in my truck but, but i am currently thinking about purchasing a RF 3sixty.3. My main question is since i am already using components does it even make since to make the purchase unless i change my front stage speakers? I know it is kind of a vague question with many different variables but to keep in context if you are currently using a passive cross-over would going active give you any benefits as far as sound quality?

recommendations needed for an amp the plan currently is to run incriminator audio comps up front and a dcon 15 dual 4 in a ported box in the back now Id prefer to only have to run one amp and to slightly over power the dcon so what 4 channel amps do you think would be worth it to bridge the rear channels or are there any great 3 channels or even 5 channels since I could hook the rear channel on a 5 channel to my drop down tailgate speakers Thanks guys

trying to make a couple buss bars for a battery rack and wanted some ideas on what kind of material to use. I stay not too far from a home improvement store and was looking to buy a few flat metal bars. In no way shape or form am I giving my first born for copper lol. I wanted to know would aluminum get too hot? They'll be about 30-36" long x 2" wide x 1/8" thick and I will have about 600amps of current going through them. Or should I use plain steel or steel with zinc plating?

ok so my alternator went out which in turn screwed up my battery. i got a good used alternator for $20 and its actually better then my last 2 and i dont want to kill it before i can afford batts. but my question is can anyone recommend places i might try for a cheap used battery? i just need something to get me by for a few weeks till i can get a big battery. i've been to pull a part 3 times this week and they havent had any. any help would be awesome thanx

I bought a DC Power 250xp alt over a year ago for my 2011 Malibu. Been sitting in the garage ever since. I've found out my vehicle is PCM controlled. Is there going to be any kind of upgrade installing this thing? Did I waste $650 by not doing my homework? My system isn't anything huge but I have a 2nd battery in the back that doesn't seem to be keeping voltage up. As far as amps a sundown 1500 and a fosgate t400.4. I tried listing the alt for sale but no bites. Basically should I even bother installing this thing? DC quoted $130 to recase this. Maybe recase for my 03 Tahoe (if its not PCM controlled?)

I have a 1998 s10 ext. I have a small amp in the back that goes to my mids, but for some reason after I listen to the radio for five minutes or less it completly kills my battery down to the point where my truck will not start so I have to get a jump. It only happens when I turn on my stereo. I had the battery and alternator tested and their fine. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be?

I picked up a 2nd battery today. Wired it + from the front battery to positive on the back battery, Then positive from the back battery to + on the amp. Then with the front battery negative disconnected I connected negative from the back battery to ground on the amp. So with the car being shut off and the front battery negative disconnected my amp is on, I basically have constant power? What am I doing wrong? Do I have to connect both front and back grounds to complete a loop or what? Is there any chance of blowing my amp or anything else by trying it? Hello all, my set up is pretty basic..kenwood radio and eq, kicker 1200 mono class d amp for my jl 13w7 and kenwood 100x4 interior amp. Also I have a optima red top under the hood and a stinger battery in the trunk all ran with 0 gauge from and I did the big 3. I still have the stock 100 amp alt which im replacing with a 180 amp and also, I never play my system with the car not running. Right now my lights dim and at night when I press the gas pedal my lights get brighter, so will the new alt stop that? And whats the highest that I should have the gain on my sub amp? Just installed my 15" bl running off a bc2k. Stock alt, big 3, and a gold battery up front (don't remember the brand but it was the best I could get from advance) voltage is ok until I'm full tilt. I was looking at a cheaper Xs power battery but there still $150. Any other brands I should b looking into? Looking for a cheaper price but I don't want a shitty battery

i need help to figure out how much power my amp will push out at different voltages. The amp i am using is a crescendo bc2000d and it states it will do 2250 at 1 ohm @13.8v. my question is what will be the power output if i were to put it at 14.6v and 16.8v.

Greetings all, it's certainly been a while. Right now I'm leaning towards using a Kicker Comp RT (12") in my Tundra CrewMax (most likely in the box by Kicker). It's rated at 800 RMS (1600 Peak) and I am looking (as most of us are) for a quality, budget amp to power this. Any recommendations? I've come across Planet Audio, Power Acoustik, and a few other brands that seem reasonably priced. Also, any experience with this sub or setup? Many thanks.

I am doing the big 3 on my 2004 Rodeo and have ran into a slight snag. I am hoping somebody on here has some advice. I am using 1/0 AWG weling cable from Airgas (Radnor Flex-A-Prene) . I Grounded the negative battery terminal and the engine to the chassis without issue. Now I am trying to attach the cable to the charging post on the alternator. The problem is that the charging post is a tiny bolt, and the lug on the welding cable is huge (http://www.airgas.com/browse/productDetail.aspx?Category=14&product=RAD64002143). The lug is too thick to be able to re-attach the nut on the charging bolt, and it is coming in contact with the case of the alternator where …

I have a question about my car or alternator. I have a permanent volt meter inside my car monitoring my electric status due to my audio install, I've noticed that when I'm on the highway at high speed or when at high idle, normally above 2,000 rpm, the voltage drops, below 12.6v and the battery and brake lights start to blink on and off on the dashboard, even with my radio and complete system off. What is happening? Thanks.

ive had my new radio in for a few days and its great. i was going to sushi with my gf and we entered the plaza and as i hit the dip the stereo stopped playing and said protect. i did some research and i saw that there is probably a short somewhere in the speaker wire. im currently on the factory wiring for my front door speakers til i hook up my 2 ch. i have infinity kappas so they have that big external box for the speaker wire so i assumed the skinny factory wiring came loose or something. i saw that some people just reset the radio and it never went into protect again. i tired it and it worked for another hour then it went into protect again. but when it was working i …

So I've had the big 3 in my car for about a month and a half now everything was fine until this morning I opened my hood and one fitting was melted. It has 1 0gauge going to the battery and 2 4gauge going to starter and the other going to my fuse box. My car turns off as soon as I turn my AC on my car turns off. Also the 4 gauge going to the fuses had the insulation gone completely melted

So for about the past week or two, my speakers keep cutting out. I've tried to find a pattern in their behavior but it APPEARS random. Sometimes they will play for a few songs and then cut in and out in 10 second increments, sometimes they will cut out for 5-10 minutes straight. I thought they might just be over heating (it has been really hot here in Md and the amps are mounted behind the seat) but the amp's thermal warning has not been going off. Hi there, So just a quick question from a newbie. I just got off the phone with one of the automotive audio guys at a local FutureShop. I've been wanting to get my old stereo system that I had in my old '98 Cav put into my 'new' '03 Cav for awhile now.
