I've seen on SSA before that you shouldn't mount an amp sideways because it will mess up how the heat dissipates. by sideways i mean one end of the amp facing the bottom of the vehicle, and the other facing the top. If it is true that this is a bad idea for overheating issues, why? and i need somewhat of a detailed answer; i'm arguing with an engineer and they don't accept "because the car audio professionals said so!!!" thanks and im asking because it would save a hell of a lot of space if i could mount it sideways

Ok, im pretty sure I have this right but I would like some confirmation to be sure. This is basically what my electrical will be.. the few things that can vary will be battery location, in the picture im going to add at the bottom I put the 2nd battery at the bottom(back).. easy to understand. the vehicle will be a Tahoe which has a 2nd battery tray.. should i use that 2nd tray or just keep it in the back close to the amps? That is one thing i wasnt 100% on, also Ill have a Kinetik HC2000 and a Kinetik HC1800 ... do i want the bigger of the 2 in the back? Also will someone look at my fusing in my picture to make sure that is correct also before i go buy all these damn fus…

The amp in question is a Linear Power 4.1HVS taken from another forum.. in the highlighted section above, i know there is a flaw in the maths.. can anyone please point it out for me??

I have a dual 1 ohm BL (.75dcr) with no options and need a amp for it. I will do the big 3 and have the stock 130a alternator and battery so it needs to be fairly efficienct. I may add a battery or two in the future but not immediately. Right now im looking at a sundown 1500 (run at .375 ohms), gp3000d (rated 1500@2), crossfire vr2000d (.5 ohm stable, 2000 watts), and zx1500.1 If i did the crossfire i could add another battery right away because of the price. OK, we JUST got the car a few weeks ago and started installing the system. it's not done yet by a long shot. I do not have the big 3 done yet. I do not have a HO alt. however, I used to run 1 red top under the hood and 1 stinger spv70 in the back without big 3 or HO alt in an Olds Cutlass and Dodge Intrepid with ZERO problems. the systems in those were WAY louder and hit much much harder than this one, plus I had a kicker 350.4 and 200.2 in those as well. when I ran the lanzar in it, it was at 1 ohm , now only 2 ohm, and before that an inefficient Audiobahn A1500HCT that popped 100amp fuses left and right till I just ran the power wire strait to the battery no fuse. thi…

bought a 1200d from a CA.com forum member in december 2009. hooked it up to verify that it was working in my buddy's car, but it whined pretty badly. all the cables were properly run. about a month ago i built a box and bought a sub and installed them in my truck. the amp has the same whine it did when i bought it and i also noticed has an "power surge", like there's faulty wiring. and yes, the amp is what is whining. i thought it was just the songs we played to test it but apparently not. i relocated then replaced the power cable replaced the ground and relocated the ground with no change. when playing, it's almost like the bass knob was turned down and at random times t…

Looking at a 100.4 sundown going active up front... 6-1/2" midbass and 1" tweet in the doors... Deciding which of the 2 units will give me better control with going active... I have been using a stock HU with a LO convertor.... and I want to get the most out of my system. Problem is, I have a tahoe and I don't want to kill the functionality of onstar / anything else. What I want is a touch screen radio that is reliable and has good eq adjustments. I also need to plug my Ipod into it..... nav isn't really needed but it would be nice too. I was wondering if any of you would have some suggestions? Thanks

I inserted my DD-1 disc into the KDC-X494 in my boat to set levels, and the CD won't eject. I press the eject button but it acts like I'm not pressing anything. Doesn't display eject or make any attempt to when I press it. It just ignores my pushing of the button. I tried pressing the reset button under the face, but no help. Any ideas? Is is a common Kenwood issue? How do I get my disc back!?

What is the problem with linking amps? I always hear its not good to do on here. I have my 2500s linked right now and wanna know what the problem people have with that is. If it would be better I would get some rca splitters and just run one to each sub

I used to have a Pioneer 8600 and it was great so I could say I'm a Pioneer fan as well. I've been looking around, kind of leaning towards a Pioneer Premier 610BT, a Pioneer 1610BT or an Eclipse CD5030 or an Eclipse CD3200. Any personal preferences out of these or could I look at some others? I'd like to stay under $250 if possible.
