I was looking at DCON box plans on the SSA technical section. They list the optimal single DCON 12 ported at 2.25 cu ft with 32.5 sq in of port. Then the dual DCON optimal is listed at 3.28 cu ft with 45 sq in of port. I was looking at running three DCON 12's sealed in the trunk of my Eldorado with the optimal 1.25 net per sub to save space. Well after looking at the optimal ported box for 2 12's I'm wondering what the optimal for 3 12's ported would be. My max box width is 38", max height 15" and depth up to 24". I'm thinking I'll run the 12's side by side with a slot port on the top of the box 2" tall and 36.5" wide firing towards the back of the car. With a net box siz…

Well this summer I am planning on walling off my 2000 accord coupe. Im already sponsored by Diablo Audio Technologies so I will be running their amplifiers. (most likely the 2500.1s) I have been doing a lot of searching for woofers and came across these and something about them is just screaming my name. I was originally going to go with 4 15" Havocs since they get piss loud and sound good doing it, but didnt really have the power handling I was looking for. The XCONs seem to be the one. I was originally going to tune the Havocs to 30hz because they love the lows, and apparently the XCONs love the same tuning as well. I want a loud daily driver that will deliver on the lo…

Alright, with all the outstanding reviews, and everything I've heard about quality and customer service, I'm getting a ssa sub. But, which? I've thought about going with the xcon, but I just think that will be too much for me. (Possible?) My last sub was a 15" spl sub, but was ridiculously underpowered. The last correctly powered sub I was running was a 12" kicker l7. I want something louder, and cleaner. Would an icon be enough? Take note, the l7 was in an nasty prefab box, and was in the trunk of a 1991 Chevy Lumina. The ssa will be in the back of a 2000 celica, with the right box. So, icon or xcon? I'll be most likely running it on a 1000w mono block from kicker. But,…

  20. Decided to go above recommended and build with a touch more air space. Here's the specs... Intenal Volume: 3.16ft^3 Tuning Freq: 31hz Port Area: 60.75in^2 So far I think this is by far the best sounding set up that has been in the Hyundai. Very nice and flat response at this tuning. I really want more power on it soon though. I'm running a SAZ-1500D @ 2 ohms Probably Gonna get a SAZ-3000d in there when they come in stock. Anyways...on to the pics.

Hi- I'm trying to design my box for the Xcon's I am going to purchase soon. I have 13.58 cubic feet gross to work with in my trunk. Problem is, I want to do forward firing sealed off from the trunk and the opening behind the seats is not big enough to accommodate the port. The opening is 35" long and 20" tall. I can't fit a large enough port to be effective. I am considering porting through the rear deck with 6" aeros or something (maybe some huge slot port through the rear deck?), would this be effective? I'm assuming I could still seal all around the ports and have it sound good. My other options are, sealed 15's, sealed 18's (that'd be cool, but idk), or ported 12's. I…

  23. I'm building a set of passive crossovers to do justice for the SSA Evil midwoofers and silk dome tweeters. This is a no compromise design that uses 48 (!) parts per set. They will be potted in epoxy resin inside ABS enclosures and hard wired with direct connection to the drivers. I have been working with these drivers for a while now and really like them. Install will be in a 1978 F-150 a good friend and I built. The rest of the system will be a SSA 150.4 and a 10" custom built PSI sub.

  25. I finally hooked everything up in my suburban and it sounds even better than I thought it would. I have a 18" Xcon tuned to 35 hz. I have it hooked up to a JBL 1200.1 II and it is plenty of power for me. As far as music reproduction the Xcon is the best I have ever heard. I've played every type of music and it sounds ridiculously good on everything. When i turn up it literally feels like its hitting you in the chest. Its starts getting hard to breath on certain songs. lol. Props go out to SSA for making a Top knotch woofer!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When i get the wires and stuff cleaned up I'll put up some pics and maybe a video. Just a break down on what else Im ru…
