i want to make a ported box for my xcon 10 and i was thinking about modifying the predesigned enclosure to make it fit for my car. I'm just curious why the boxes are the same for the xcon and icon 10's. the recommended specs are different for the 2 woofers but i can't find a difference between the pre designed enclosures. should i be using the recommended specs as a guide or the predesigned enclosures as a guide. just a bit confusing.

this guy wants to build a box for my two ICON 15" subs here are the 3 options he gave me 17"H x 42"W x 24"D, 8.174^3ft gross vol. Slot port, 15.5" x 5" x 15.92"Long. After all displacement, 7.048^3ft net box vol. Built from 3/4"UL-MDF 20"H x 40"W x 21"D, this will save you some room, it will put the enclosure at 8.244^3ft gross vol, 7.171^3ft net. Perfect! The port will be 18.5" x 4" x 16.1"Long 22"H x 42"W x 20"D, 8.889^3ft gross, 7.837^3ft net, with a 20.5" x 4" x 15.4"long port. i drive a 04 ford explorer also and dont want to lose to much space in the trunk

After all of the readings i've done, it seems like these are the popular choices for subs. Which would you rate for being the best all around LOUD SOUND QUALITY sub. It seems like the ia and xcon have the flattest bl curve, the xxx may be the winner in the lows department and the w7 is what everything is measured against. B4 I only had highs with no mid bass, so I loved my 10w7's over my 06xxx. Now I have the focal krx2 for the highs and mids, so what would be a good sub to blend with them? They are able to play down the the 70hz range i believe. Looking for the best sound quality in 6cubes maxx! Also looking for it to be loud(outside of the truck for showing off purpose…

Direct quote from DIYma: I just installed a 12" Icon in a sealed nder the backseat of my silverado. I have to say that SSA you guys did an amazing job with this one. One of the best drivers i've heard without a doubt. I'm running it off of a JL 500/1 and I absolutely love this thing. It's only been played for about 2 hours so it still needs some time to break in. The transient response and accuracy is amazing, much better than the W7 and comparable to the W6 but with more output and much better lows. In the sealed box i have now it reminds me of how low my Type X hit in it's ported box. It just eats the lows up no problem. It blends so well with everything even though i h…

Hello, It is just a little review of my last subwoofer. I was running an Icon 15 dvc 2 in a 3.5 cubic feet box tuned at 32 Hz. The box was designed by Fisher customs and built by a friend for his xcon. He since, changed box, so I managed to get the old one! The Icon is one of the most accurate sub I've ever heared. I love the fact that it is loud but can play ALL the bass notes. Lot of subs plays all the notes, but this one is quite flat : like if all the notes are played at the same (high) volume. (My vocabulary is limited, so I can't really explain everything as I would !!!) The amp is a Sundown saz 1000 d. My car is a hatchback Toyota Auris.

first off, hey everyone, new to this forum. im usually on other forums but figured my question would be best answered here well im really interested in the Icon and a few other subs. but i got a couple questions: 1) I wanna do 2 15" Icons sealed in my car. i can only fit about 5 cuft tops. I have a couple amps in mind and all of them do about 2500rms. Would that be too much for the Icon? Should i only put 2k on them? Also, should I make the box towards the smaller side around 4-4.5 cuft or towards the bigger end 4.5-5cuft? Or should i just call off the sealed and do 2 12's ported? 2) I think I've narrowed down my decisions to a few subs. 2 12" AA havocs ported ran off abo…

So brown santa (UPS guy) dropped off a fairly heavy package today. I just want to say this thing is AMAZING. Bye bye RD Audio, HELLO SSA! Oh, and to Mark, if you're reading this sorry about getting so impatient about the build time, the wait was more than worth it! I got it installed in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab in a ~4 cube box tuned to 30hz. This driver is godlike compared to my two 12" RD Sonances. I couldn't be happier.

well after along time of driving my brand new truck around with a ton of weight in the back, two monster 15's and a huge box, batts, amps, etc...I decided it was time to get back to a single 12". Plus with John having his truck so close for demo's, and that truck being above and beyond loud IMO, thought it was time. Found some great looking prefab's locally here in Phoenix, so decided to try one out. Here are the specs of the box. Width - 18.250" Height - 16.000" Depth - 16.000" Internal Volume = 1.769 ft^3 Tuned @ 37.089 hz Port Area = 25.8in^2 Everything seems about right with this box ecept the tuning is a little high, but all and all I am really amazed by the SQ …

Back in Oct. 2010 I had a box designed for an 10" Icon at that time which I became pretty busy and never got a chance to buld it or buy the sub. Since then I've noticed the Icons been revised, I'm wondering if I should get a new box designed or if the new icons are pretty much the same as the old icon specs that the design I have will be fine??

the new box comes out to 4.09 cu ft after port and sub displacement, tuned to 40.94 hz. This is going to be my SPL box for my comp on Sunday July 8th. I have to mount the amps on the rear of box and cut the whole for sub so the box is not totally completed in the car yet. Heres some pics but the rest will come tomorrow. I will also post pics from the show and the numbers I did with the Icon 15 at the show sunday. But remember, im still not sure if its the perfect SPL box for the sub, so more testing is required, this isnt a sub everyone knows the best box to make for it like RE subs or SI subs. In my opinion this sub is great and I wish people would give it a chance…

Recently I've been thinking about trying to fit a 15" Icon in the trunk of my Sunfire as opposed to the 12" I've planned. I typically would just use a slotted port, but the amount of displacement taken up by the port would bring the box pretty much all the way down to 3cft as opposed to the 4 that's supposed to be optimal. So I've been reading a bit and the idea of using Aero ports kind of interested me. However, does the recommendation for port area remain the same (12-16 square inches per cubic foot)? If so, I would need 2 6" ports or 4 4" ports, and in both configurations the port length would have to be too long. Is my only bet for fitting a 15" is to settle with some…
