Just wondering if 780watts from a DLS RA10 (@ 1 ohm) would be enogh power for a single 12" XCON? XCON would be sealed in the recommended size enclosure (1.45 cu.ft) hitting 80's rock tunes and jazz (NO CELINE DION!!! EVER). Thanks

  3. I just purchased an SSA DCON 12S4, and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. It will be driven with an Orion XTR 375.2, getting about 400 watts RMS. Components will be Dayton Audio RS180's driven by an Arc Audio FD2100, and Morel MDT-12's driven off of an Audio Art 70.2. The source unit is a Pioneer DEH-P880PRS. The sub will be installed in a 2002 Ford F250 Crew Cab. I do not want the enclosure sitting up on the seat, so I will be building a custom L shaped box that will sit right behind the center console up onto the middle of the rear seat, with the sub firing up, as well as the vent. Basically I listen to all kinds of music. Hip Hop, Rock, Reggae, Country, Oldies, J…

Bromo, I am having a terrible time figuring out this CD player. I have had 15 different cd players. Alpine 7998, Eclipse CD8454, etc, etc. This one is by far the hardest to figure out. I know there is a switch on the side to access pro mode. Either way I switch it, all of the controls stay the same. I cannot find out how to turn on or off the internal amplifier. I cannot find the 3 Way Active Crossover. I cannot find the LED lighting options. Basically there is a lot of stuff I cannot get access to. I have read the manual. It just says to use the multi control to access everything, and this is not working. I know you are already giving me a hand on the enclosur…

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've posted anything. I have a pair of dcon 12s in a vented enclosure, 1.75 cubes each tuned to 33hz powered by a RF power series 500 watt amp. It gets decently loud, however I'd like it to get louder. The box I have just about takes up as much space as I can fit in my truck. Would they get louder with more power and how much would you recommend if so?

  6. Im upgrading from 2 12's on 1300wts tuned to 32hz to 2 15's xcons on 3500wts tuned to 30hz. Of course the xcons will be loader and sound great, but i've never ran subs in a box tuned that low.am I going to notice a diff in the upper range? My front comps play pretty well down low have them crossed hfp at 63hz.Just want to know what to expect.I play a lot of rap,and r/b some rock.

Looking for a little help on deciding which sub setup to run. First off the vehicle is a 2005 explorer. Already have a Sundown SAZ-3500d to power them. Electrical upgrades will be DC 270 amp alt., big three in 1/0, two runs to back of vehicle in 1/0 and 2 D3100 batteries. Purpose of the system is daily ground pounder. Want loud and clean. Listen to a little bit of everything except country. The original plan was 2 XCON 15's in a ported enclosure. I've been reading the forum a lot and watched some videos and have seen some really nice systems using 12" XCONS and ICONS. My uncle suggested I run four 12" ICONS sealed. He has always run sealed enclosures. My dads b…

So I recently posted this thread about the continuous power of the ZED Leviathan amp powering the Image Dynamic CTX65CS comps. I'm on a roll ... - SSA Car Audio Forum I am satisfied to know that the ID comps will run fine with the ZED amps RMS power. I however didn't think about the power handling capability of the SSA DCON 12S4. That sub is rated at 300w RMS and the ZED amp puts out 600w continuous power bridged. Sooo ... will the DCON 12S4 sub be OK with the 600w continuous power that the ZED amp will be feeding it? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this BUT I just want to make sure. Headroom right?! THANKS!

So I am piecing together parts for my new sound system in my new VW CC. I decided to go with the SSA DCON 12". Before I purchase, I'm not sure weather to get the 12D4 or the 12S4. I know the difference and the advantages (I think). The amp I am using is a 5 channel Kenwood amp. According to the specs in the owners manual it puts out 350w RMS equally in 4ohm and 2 ohm in the sub channel. I understand that if the amp was to put out more power with a 2ohm load then I should def get the 12D4 so I could wire it in parallel and get a 2ohm load and draw more power from the amp. This amp as mentioned earlier however puts out the same amount of power. This means that I don't nee…

Hello everybody, as the title says I want to suprise my husband with a pair of xcon 15s, but I do not want him to be dissappointed with my purchase. After I decided that I wanted to get him some subwoofers for his birthday I started asking him, his friends, and his brothers questions about his current setup so that I would not spend my money in vain. After much research I have narrowed it down to the xcons. My husband claims that he likes sound quality woofers that have the ability to get loud, which I take are right up the xcon alley. Currently my husband has dual 15 inch Diamond TDX subwoofers and I constantly hear him say that they are hard to beat and are the best woo…

  13. So i just purchased a 1st generation 15" icon from Big E! (great guy) And i've decided to take some pictures and post 'em up here! I had to take the pictures anyways since i have to send them to the real owner of the sub. I decided that there might be a few guys up here who would appreciate seeing them as well! It's also kind of a part 2 for my review on Big E as a seller. I tried to capture the very minimal inperfections.

  14. for my ears that is. I am 32 years old, had dozens of set ups and this thing blows me away. The only thing that I think could have possibly been louder was my first "Big" set up with 6 12s. But this was like 14-15 years ago, and my memory may just be fuzzy. After a 5 minute run around the block at full tilt, I felt slightly nauseous. It's on 1500 watts, ported at 32 hz in the recommended enclosure, firing forward sealed off from the trunk. No pics since my install isn't done. Just wanted to say this thing is violently loud and awesome.

UPS dropped off a little somethin' somethin': First impressions. I didn't have much time to play around with it (gotta go to work soon), so I was pretty careful with the settings. Still, this thing is amazing. Gets loud and LOW. Hopefully I'll get some more work done this weekend (moving bass knob and replacing the crappy cable) and get it tuned a little better, but so far I'm extremely happy with my purchase. SSA's got a customer for life.

So I was doing some research and need some help. I plan to use a box that has the sub facing up and needed to know how tall the box has to be to fit a SSA XCON 18. Can't find info on what the length of the sub is. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Im wondering how a Xcon will perform with 35hz tuning. I know its a little above the optimal tuning but since the majority of music doesnt dip that low I was thinking it may be a good idea. Anybody ever tried it?

Here's a few shots that JBLCAMRY took of his new subs. He has four of these going into his little GEO ground pounder. These are still in the prototype stage and being tested by JBLCAMRY to make sure they can hang with our quality of woofers. New Features include: -- Extra Stiff suspension for better power handling -- XCON type dustcap -- Sandwiched Tinsel Leads Enjoy Once we are happy with the outcome of this, we will post official pics of them. Hope you guys are as excited as we are about these.

Just woundering if a 12" Dcon would work well in a home theater system. It would be in a seald box powered by a 250 watt Dayton plate amp. Andanother question, can you get the Dcon without the logo on the dustcap? Caus I want to go with a real clean look.

I'm in search mode right now for my second setup. Does anybody here knows the correct enclosure and tuning so I can obtain the most flattest response for the XCon 12"? I know I can achieve it in sealed enclosure but I'm leaning towards ported enclosure. I really love to listen to wide variety of music from rnb to techno and folk to love songs. Thanks
