Rated at 1750rms, but what could these really take? Could these handle 2500 for a few minutes?

I have wondered. Is it absolutely neccessary to run 2 pieces of mdf on the part of the enclousure where the subs mount? if you have bracing on the inside of the box wouldn't it be enough to keep the front "plate" from flexing from the subs? Besides being able to recess them whats the advantages of the second piece.

I sold my 18's to my friend to Don... and this is what he did with them.... It did a 47.7 in KAOS which is a 3 min run in the center of the dash. The enclosure is some thick ass PVC with MDF plugs and aeroports. Sadly besides myself and him we were the only ones to run SSA.

I have had my Dcon's for a while now and I must say I am very impressed with how loud these little 10's can get while sounding great at the same time. At the time of thier arrival I did'nt really have the money to get a custom enclosure made so a friend of mine sold me an dual 10" audioenhancers enclosure he had laying around in his garage. He showed me the specs of the enclosure on the internet (3.18 cu. ft. at 33hz) and I figured that would be fine for them. Since i've had them I've always noticed that they hit the lower low notes but did not produce as much volume from them as I was expecting without me cranking the gains on my head unit. Today I finally checked the sp…

As most of you probably know, I have a pair of DCON 12s being powered off a RF T500-1bd. They were in a sealed box for a while (1.25 cubes each) and I was very unsatisfied and disappointed by them sealed. I didn't like them at all sealed and was on the verge of selling them or giving them to my girlfriend. I finally got a ported box for them made by a local shop (2.25 cubes each tuned to 33hz) and now they are my favorite subs that I have every owned! They are definitely loud ported and drop very low and have awesome sound quality and I just plain love them! I don't know why anyone in their right mind would choose to have them sealed over ported lol. Their sound qua…

  14. First thing I will make abundantly clear: most people by now know that I’m a regular poster on SSA and a member of the Tech Team. Aaron did not send this to me to review, I didn’t get it for free, I wasn’t asked to buy it, or any situation in that vein. When I expressed interest in getting an Icon, Aaron asked if I would be willing to review it. I said yes but made sure he understood that if it was a sub-par product, I wouldn’t hold anything back. I feel I have the technical backing and experience to give it a thorough review and I hope you’ll find the same. There were no SPL measurements done because I could really care less about those. This is a purely subjective…

  15. Met up with Sencheezy this past weekend for a chat and a few demos ... Guys, Sencheezy is a real "down to Earth" kind of guy !!! It was really cool to meet up with you Sir and get a demo of your ride !!! Sorry about missing your "ride the light" run, but I got called back to the LP demo booth. I will be sure to catch it on the next run ... hopefully we will be competing together at SBN Daytona !!! my under / hub glows got tore up during the accident on the way to finals (blew a trailer tire in the rain and almost flipped the vehicles) ... As for the SSA Evil driver ... Very impressive !!! Gets very loud and does supsrisingly good playing music too !!! Seemed really stro…

My 15" xcon died yesterday, i was playing some music and then it died for a second came back then died again and was gone. I checked it out today the amp works fine, and the sub will hit bass when pushed and held in. I took it out of the box and when i moved it up and down there was a crunching sound along where the wires go through the spider, plus when i moved the spider the sound came for a second back. So I'm sure the wires burnt. So what do I need to do to fix this??? is there a way when I fix this to make the part more heavy duty. My last subwoofer could take twice the beating of this xcon and it never cared for the 4 years I owned it and it was powered with this sa…

Hi guys, I'm installing an a new sound system in my BMW X1 F48. I want to buy 2 Gcon 10s. I will run them on 1500 to 2000 watts, and I need a serious box design for them. I want a ported box, tuned between 32-34 Hz. I think subs up and port back, in the middle should work. I don't want both subs to share airspace, one would near the port and not the other. I don't know what is the optimal size to use. I can pay for a good design, I know nothing is free !

I don't know if its my settings on my headunit or if it's my songs format (data and mp3) but i'm starting to notice most of my songs sound like crap. I set my gains with my volt meter and the low pass is set around 80hz and no bass boost. My enclosure is 2.2 cubes tuned to 32hz and i'm thinking maybe its too big? One song I noticed it bottomed out and I set my gains to volume 52 with a -4db 40 or 50hz test tone I believe, I was only playing the song around 34-38. I can turn down my eq on my headunit but then my frontstage midbass is not even being used. Do I need an external equalizer? and smaller box since it bottomed out? I mean the song Young Jezzy "You know what …

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've posted anything. I have a pair of dcon 12s in a vented enclosure, 1.75 cubes each tuned to 33hz powered by a RF power series 500 watt amp. It gets decently loud, however I'd like it to get louder. The box I have just about takes up as much space as I can fit in my truck. Would they get louder with more power and how much would you recommend if so?

I just bought 2 10" dcons, and now i need to build an enclosure. Im just not sure what what style I should do. They're going into my 1990 bmw 325i. The trunk is pretty much a steel coffin, there is no opening in the rear seat or anything. What i was thinking of doing is removing the rear speakers and porting directly through those holes (1 port per sub). Anyways, what box style best suits these subs? Should I go with subs facing rear, porting through the top? Some have suggested I build a bandpass setup, but I have no idea how to make one of those. If anyone feels kind enough to make up some blueprints, the trunk space I have to work with is 15.5" high by 3ft wide, and as…

  22. i just purchased 2 10" icons for my 2003 mitsu evo 8. i need help with the best box design for my trunk. im looking for the loudest set up i can get. so far im thinking about firing them towards the cabin and have the port fire the same way in a 3cf box tuned to 32hz. there is only a metal cross brace between the seat and trunk. other options are to fire them towards the back and have the port the same way, but i want a custom install so it would be walled off, not sure if this would hurt sound. finally, i was thinking about firing them back and have the ports on top firing through my rear deck speaker holes (i removed my rear deck speakers) and create a kind of ban…

Ok well I got my SSA XCON 12's awhile ago, and my SAZ-1500 D sundown audio amps. I waited a while to hook it all up to get everything I needed for the install. I installed them today, took me about 6 hours cause i wanted to make sure everything was perfect, and the way it was suppose to be. Well obviously I did something wrong because I ran into some problems. I would like some help to find out what I did wrong if anything, or if I just have shitty luck. I hooked it all up, I was liking the sound. Later on during the experience through the day I noticed they weren't hitting as hard as they were at first. Here and there i'd smell something like plastic burning. I sealed th…

  24. I need some advice please. I just bought a 2012 VW Passat with plenty of space in the trunk and I have plans to upgrade the electrical. I have never had any subs in a ported box (and plan to build a ported box, 4.5 - 5 cubic feet, for this system), have never had subs bigger than 12"s and have never heard SSA subs. I have a DC 5.0K amp that I would like to run at 2 ohms, so I was thinking I could go with either 2 ICON 12" dual 2's or one ZCON 15" dual 1. I mostly listen to rock and metal music, but do enjoy some dub step and bass drops, so I would like to be loud but sound great doing it. What would you go with? Also the ported box will be facing foward sealed off from th…
