better video than the first but still not that great. Put it up on youtube this time. Sub is wired to 1 ohm and gets dumb loud off of the ed nine.1 but you cant really tell in the video. When i get a good video camera ill take some quality shots but for now this will have to do. Still havent fixed the screws... ill do that today though. enjoy

Its wired to 1 ohm and playing hypnotize my young jeezy. video really does the set up no justice though. i took it with my camera phone so you cant really see all of the excursion or hear how loud and clear this thing really is but i promised a video today so here it is. im off to work now so enjoy. feel free to leave comments good or bad. oh yea and you can see the spare tire because i pushed the box farther back in the trunk an the thing that was covering it moved back a little but i covered it up again haha so my trunk doesnt always look lik…

wow just wow... i was told that i should wire it up to 4 ohms and let it run for a week to break it in so i did that and i thought it wouldnt sound too good until i wired tto the full 1 ohm but man was i wrong. im running an ed nine.1 and its wired to 4 ohm so the sub is probbly getting about 500-600 watts and it still sonds amazing. can only imagine how the whole 1300 will sound. Couldnt get any vids today but i will tomorrow. 1 question though. should i leave it wired to 4 ohms to brea in or will i be fine wiring it up to 1 ohm and letting it break in that way?

Ok I have been beating my head against a wall trying to decide on which driver to run. My initial thought was to run a pair IDMAX 12's. However, I have some reservations on doing pretty much the same thing I have done time and again. So with that in mind I have been pursuing large displacement drivers. I need something that will work in a sealed enclosure, which the xcons seem to be fairly close with an EBP around the level that would work well in this setup. I will be powering this subwoofer with a mmats 2000.1 so it should see around its rms rating, granted box rise ect you won't see close to it, but that's ok. Alright so here are a couple of questions for you is this …

I'm in search mode right now for my second setup. Does anybody here knows the correct enclosure and tuning so I can obtain the most flattest response for the XCon 12"? I know I can achieve it in sealed enclosure but I'm leaning towards ported enclosure. I really love to listen to wide variety of music from rnb to techno and folk to love songs. Thanks

I was just wondering what the difference is between the small enclosure size recommendation and the optimal size recommendation for the SSA subs? How is output affected by going with the optimal size vs the smaller size? Is is a noticable difference?

So I just had my xcon delivered. I know coils aren't always perfectly spot on and impedence changes , but both of my coils are reading 1.5 ohms. It's a dual 1. Is this normal?

I was looking at DCON box plans on the SSA technical section. They list the optimal single DCON 12 ported at 2.25 cu ft with 32.5 sq in of port. Then the dual DCON optimal is listed at 3.28 cu ft with 45 sq in of port. I was looking at running three DCON 12's sealed in the trunk of my Eldorado with the optimal 1.25 net per sub to save space. Well after looking at the optimal ported box for 2 12's I'm wondering what the optimal for 3 12's ported would be. My max box width is 38", max height 15" and depth up to 24". I'm thinking I'll run the 12's side by side with a slot port on the top of the box 2" tall and 36.5" wide firing towards the back of the car. With a net box siz…

I know I saw a thread about this a while back, but can't seem to find it. I think I remember reading about a 8" DCON prototype. Whatever happened to this? Was it a flop or was there just not the market for it? I know I'd jump all over a pair if they became available.

  20. HOTTT TOPIC: WHO WOULD WIN? SSA XCON 18" VS FI BTL 18" VS digital designs DD9518g VS Incriminator audio's DeathPenalty 18" I like the XCON's they are my number one pick right now, B/C I can afford at least one of them sometime this year and all i read about them is great, but what about the other brands? I am looking for: (In preference order) -Sound quality 1st -Loudness 2nd -size of subwoofer 18" or 15".... maybe just maybe a 12" but i have a feeling that would sacrifice too much loudness for only a minor increase in sound quality. please feel free to recommend any other sub brands and models i should look at, im not buying anything as of yet. I am only looking for a…

  21. this thread is just to gauge the interest you guys would have in this. I got permission from, in fact, welcomed open arms from MTX on a SSA tour. I would really love to see this as it is a very fun place to visit. IT is the Phoenix campus where they make and distribute alot of their high end amps and much much more. If you are in the AZ or surrounding area's, and would like to be a part of this, please post up a general date range when this would be possible and lets see if we can all come to an agreement on a date. Would be a fun time for sure! Me: I'm set for when ever is good for the masses!

Hey guys. I'm still haven't decided on subwoofer upgrades. I was recommended to go with an XCON in my last thread, which it seems everyone here likes them alot. I would only have about 1000-1200 watts to play with, on a good day, So my question would be whether or not the XCON is better for me over an ICON, with that amount of power. I have room to run the SSA small ported XCON 12 enclosure, and could run the optimum ICON enclosure I think. Would I hear a differance in the xcon vs icon in terms of output with that much power? Would it be worth the extra $100 to get the xcon over the icon?

Hello, I want to tell you my feeling after changing my sub enclosure. Some people are afraid of going sealed with the Xcons, and want advices. I had a 3.5 ft3 sub box, tuned to 32 Hz. Design was made by Fisher Customs (need the new ones JBL Camry, please). My car is a hatchback car, and I had the sub and port facing up. I loved it, but I could not put a bottle of water (or whatever) in the trunk, and the amps were not breathing right : no room at all. I made a friend (he has an Xcon 15" too) build a sealed box for me : dim are (70 x 40 x 40 cm), so 27.6" x 15.7" x 15.7 ". I think they fit in the ones provided by ssa. I have a lot more room in the trunk and I like that !…

Hi guys, After lots of research I decided I'd really like to get the Icon 12. I'm most likely putting this in a prefabbed box so I need to make sure it will fit. Does anybody have the magnet diameter for this sub? I see the mounting depth but not the magnet diameter listed on the product page. Thanks!

A week ago I posted in the speaker forum about 1 of my xcons getting hot while the other stayed cool and I figured out what happened with the wires getting mixed up but then today when I fixed the speaker wires the speaker would not work at all. When I push the sub in it is not locked or make any screaching noise. The leads seem to be fine. There looks like there might be a slight tear in the spider. Would a recone fix this or would it need to be sent out? Also how much does 1 cost for 15"xcon If there is anything else anyone can suggest for me to look at the sub or to try it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
