I have had my eyes on ssa's woofers for quite a while and think i'm finally about to purchase my next sub(s). I have always wanted to try out the Icon but have recently seen a video on youtube of a single dcon 10" that was very impressive. I've been looking at the new combo deals with the sundown amps on ssa's store and like the prices. I have never heard an ssa woofer in person and would like some opinions from those with experience and knowledge of their products. Heck, I might even try the 15" icon (sealed); the 12"icon or 10"dcons would be p…

Hi all, I'm considering a false floor, but depth will be a factor. I can't seem to find the depth for the 12 and 15" xcons on the site (store or the SSA site). Anyone got info to share? thanks

Just left marks house. My dad and i both got a demo of xcons. They sound even better than i imagined. They were really crisp, tight, and accurate. They love the low notes. They also put out quite a bit of output. Thanks again for the demo mark. Maybe i will have to switch out my xl 18s to xcons now

okay i am a newb so lets keep any comments about me being a dumbass to a minimum. i have a 1991 mercedes benz s-class its a large car. i only have room for either 2 12"s or a 15". Any recommendations on what i should get. i can spend roughly 1000 for the sub/amp combination. i like the 15" SSA xCon or maybe 2 kicker l7 12's. i did like the Fi 15" Q but i read some reviews where people had durability issues. I am open minded to anything. Sound quality is somewhat important as i hate my friends 15" power accoustick P3. it is horrible. thanks David

Direct quote from DIYma: I just installed a 12" Icon in a sealed nder the backseat of my silverado. I have to say that SSA you guys did an amazing job with this one. One of the best drivers i've heard without a doubt. I'm running it off of a JL 500/1 and I absolutely love this thing. It's only been played for about 2 hours so it still needs some time to break in. The transient response and accuracy is amazing, much better than the W7 and comparable to the W6 but with more output and much better lows. In the sealed box i have now it reminds me of how low my Type X hit in it's ported box. It just eats the lows up no problem. It blends so well with everything even though i h…

Finnaly pulled the trigger and ordered a mighty XCON!! I love what you guys are doing and I can't freakin wait to get my Xcon!! The sense of community is really one of the many things I really like most about you guys and I love supporting the smaller business. (Especially when they have the capability to kick the arse of most of those mainstream companies!) Been out of the game for a while and it really wasn't like this last time I had a system. I was so close to getting JL its not even funny. Thats before I stumbled onto the SSA forums and the rest as they say is history. I've learned a lot from you guys on all of the different SSA froums and I truly appreciate it!!…

I am looking for info about the Xcon subs. Can somebody give me some specs about the Xcon line? I need the weight of the 12 and 15" sub, and I can't find it. I want to compare it to the Icon line. Can we have a comparative description of the 2 12" and of the 2 15"? I have an Icon 15", and I love it! I loved its "light" weight too. But I can't tell for the Xcon, there are not a lot info on the SSA site. Thanks

so I got my 15" Xcons installed and enough play time for a bit of break in.. first thing I gotta say is they are really tight and accurate.. I was expecting a bit of boomy ness (like most 15's) but I was supprized with almost no note over lap and really clean sounding speed drums that IMO are less muddy than the 10" Icons were..I found a new appreciation with all my favorite metal (Judas Preist,Motley Crue,Megadeath exc...) the tight bass guitar riffs and kick drums slip in and out flawlessly regardless of volume level and the note seperation is distinctive by tone...a very musical characteristic the power handling is excellent also.....I was able to shread every woofer I…

So I have been thinking, If I wall off behind the second row I should be able to get about 14 and a half cubes. Subs on the outer sides and 200sqin of port in the middle. I would be uprading the electrical, with h/o alt, big 3, and atleast 5 batts(1 up front 4 in the back). Another saz 1500, and a shit ton of deadner. I will be upgrading my fronstage as well. I am hoping to do atleast around 146 or so. That would be double the cone area and double the power, aswell as aupgraded electrical. What do you guys think????

Ok well I got my SSA XCON 12's awhile ago, and my SAZ-1500 D sundown audio amps. I waited a while to hook it all up to get everything I needed for the install. I installed them today, took me about 6 hours cause i wanted to make sure everything was perfect, and the way it was suppose to be. Well obviously I did something wrong because I ran into some problems. I would like some help to find out what I did wrong if anything, or if I just have shitty luck. I hooked it all up, I was liking the sound. Later on during the experience through the day I noticed they weren't hitting as hard as they were at first. Here and there i'd smell something like plastic burning. I sealed th…

First off I want to say I'm not trying to start anything just a thought that came to my mind. As a team are you guys more the daily/ground pounder type? I know ssa subs are geared towards sq/groundpounders so I was just wondering if you guys do the sq thing or if you do go for numbers?

6.9 cuft@32hz. 101.75sqin of port. I shortened it by about 5 inches, widened it 1 inch, and made it 1 inch deeper.

After all of the readings i've done, it seems like these are the popular choices for subs. Which would you rate for being the best all around LOUD SOUND QUALITY sub. It seems like the ia and xcon have the flattest bl curve, the xxx may be the winner in the lows department and the w7 is what everything is measured against. B4 I only had highs with no mid bass, so I loved my 10w7's over my 06xxx. Now I have the focal krx2 for the highs and mids, so what would be a good sub to blend with them? They are able to play down the the 70hz range i believe. Looking for the best sound quality in 6cubes maxx! Also looking for it to be loud(outside of the truck for showing off purpose…

I got my xcon in the Wed. I am kinda late on posting anything about for i have been building boxes for the last week. I heard it for the first time yesterday in the new box.(7.3cuft@30hz 107.6sqin of port) I like the way it sounds. :bigclap: Different than any other sub i have heard. I must say that i love it. It SLAMS the lows. I listened to some heavy metal to see how well it picked up the double bass, I must say i am very impressed. The $426.54 i paid for it was well worth it. I would recommend this sub as well as ssa to anyone that I talked to . Very great company with outstanding quality speakers.

We are considering doing a "trade up" program for SSA products. Loose details would include. Trade in your SSA product (SSA SUBS ONLY!) for a pre-derterminded value to be discounted off your new SSA product. Example: DCON trade (x-amount) - ICON MAP PRICE (y-amount) = total (y-x) This is just an idea at this point and we feel would help circulate our subs a bit better. We would also be selling the trade in's in our "Certified Used" Section on the shop after they have been tested. So seems to be a win win, you could get a great used product at a discount, or a brand new product at a discount. Let us know your thoughts!

As you can see in my sig, I am a pround owner of a 15" Icon sub!!! I am really happy with it, but I would like to play with the tuning frequencies of my box! I want to lower the tuning frequency of my enclosure. What should I do ? The box is about 4ft3 and the port is 14.10" (35cm) long and about 5.5" (14cm) of diameter. The actual port is just a PVC pipe. Should I replace it with a longer port(1" more), or is it better to have one port with a larger diameter to have more port area ? It is easier to have a longer port, but is it better for the sound, output, quality,... ??? Thanks you all
