well my sub is out for delivery.... i have my box built... so i am sitting here thinking if there is anything i need so when i get off work i can mount it in the box and go hook it up...... then i started to think... i know how to wire it to a 1 ohm load.... but.. with my alpine type R it had jumper cables to go from one voice coil to the other... then just one speaker wire to the amp... so i only ran one wire out of the box just thinking that is how my Xcon would be... so.... i gues what i am wondering is this how you wire the Xcon ? or do you run speaker wires from each voice coil to the amp ? i guess i could wait and find out... but i would like to have it …

I tried using the SSA gallery, but had a few issues, so photobucket links. I'll be building a few boxes soon, at least one sealed and a couple test ported boxes for my 96 Volvo 850 GLT (trunk). This 12" xcon d2 will be replacing my current Infinity Kappa Perfect 12vq's, and powered off a Sundown SAZ-1500d. I have a 50ft spool of 1/0 welding wire in my room, a sax100.4 on the way from db-r, and will be ordering the mli65's from the ssa store along with a battery or two. Now I just need to find some decent tweeters, and get to the box building. Found this on my porch the other day: Awesome packing, very secure: Money shots: Various xcon pics on photobucket

Does anyone know the measurement between the underside of the mounting flange and the top of the surround of an EVIL18? I don't know how closely USACi monitors the below the window line rule. I sure hope I don't have to account for woofer excursion...

So, I installed my new dcon 10 in a box that was built by a local audio shop 1.25 cu ft with a slot port that is supposedly tuned to 32.5 hz. I have this enclosure rear firing in my 2010 fusion with 300 watts crossed over at 80 hz. The main thing I have noticed is that the bass is very loud around 40-45 hz with not much in the 60-80 hz range. I'm wondering if this is just due to in car cabin gain and something I am going to have to eq out or if its possible that the box is tuned wrong? Would going with a lower tune, like 29 or 30 hz help with smoothing the upper frequencies? Just trying to get the best bass I can out of the system.

#ThirstyThursday night live streams on Instagram for all things SSA over on the dr.lindsey_SSA account. Lindsey and I decided to bring it back as people liked it and its another way to reach out to our SSAFamily. Moving forward, we are keeping it a little more structured like a mini-TV segment. Last night we had: News & Updates Product Highlight Open Questions Dr. Lindsey's tips for guys and sliding into the DM's Drink of the night The "show" will stay light and informal and not always heavy duty audio and maybe have a guest.

2 10" SSA Icon's I want ported, firing back in a trunk setup. Newer model Chevrolet Impala, so I have a lot of room to play with (in terms of the 18 3/8's width given, I can go more). Should I stick with the pre-designed enclosure numbers or do something different, because I have the space? 1k to each subwoofer. Hip-Hop & R&B - All the lows I'm getting someone to build the box so I only have 1 shot at this, so to say. Thanks guys.

What series SSA sub would suit me best? I was looking @ FI BLs or Qs but lost instress because the guys on the Fi forum are to Baised. All i asked for is a sub that could get loud and sound good. They say you can't have Both. WTF! the reply is BLs get loud but lack lowend and SQ the Qs sound great has lowend but lack output. Please! Please help me decide , i don't want to Compromise SQ over Output. For the record i have power to spare and space to work with and i'm lookin @ 18s btw. All i hear is Get BLs NO get the Qs what type of music, what amp, what vehicle, ported or sealed. yada yada yada.

I'm doing a temporary half-wall so I can still see out of the back window. How many dbs could be gained by sealing it all up? Does the magnet have a hole in the bottom? Is 6.5" mounting depth not including the depth of the mounting ring? What's the depth of the mounting ring? Would there be a problem inverting the dcon? Would I have to phase it? The box will be pretty close to but not touching the rear windows, would that be a problem?

Some good time back a topic was started that had a few really good background images posted up but nothing else was ever really added. Is there a possibility of starting another one and getting some new up to date images posted up and perhaps some for mobile devices as well?? I do love the image of the ZCONs I've been using for awhile but it would be great to have some nice new ones to shuffle through, especially on my phone.

I have a DCON 10 currently in a ported enclosure, but just don't really care much for the sound. My car seems to have a nasty 40-45hz boost and almost no bass around 60hz with the sub rear facing in the trunk. I've tried moving the box around and have been able to get better sound with it corner loaded firing basically across the trunk. However, the box I have is really too big to fit like that, so I am wanting to construct a new one. The question that I have is how much space do I need behind the woofer for the vented pole? I'm trying to make the box as shallow as possible. The sub has 6" mounting depth and I'm assuming I would need another 2 inches or so to be saf…

Hey people I am going to be getting 2 DCON 10's for under the back seat of my pickup, and I know that the optimum recommended ported box is 1.25 @ 33hz after displacement, so my question is, since this will be in a pick up under the back seat, with the subs forward firing and the ports are going to be on the sides of the box firing into the doors, what type of port should I use, aero ports or slot ports. Also if I should go with aeros, what size and what length, and if I should go with slot ports, what dimensions, also I say a guy on here that put his DCON 10 in a 1.3 cu. ft. box @ 33 hz, what advantages and disadvantages will I see by going with this size over the 1.25 r…

Hey, here very soon I will be buying an xcon, the problem is i drive a 1995 honda prelude and the trunk is not very big at all and to put a 15" in the trunk i would most likely need to build the box inside the trunk, and I've been through that before, it sucked. my question is how much of a difference would there be between the 12 and 15? it would be hooked up to an saz 1500. thanks Jordan

I feel like a little kid waiting on christmas to open presents. I have been reading over and over on this forum. I just placed an order for 2 Icon 12d1 subs and a Sundown sae1200 amp. Once they come in a build log with pics will follow. I have heard nothing but great things about the customer support from SSA that really sold me along with all the people on this forum backing it up. I know I will be very happy with this decision. I am excited, can't wait, and had to share it. I am sure many of you have had this feeling before.

Met up with Sencheezy this past weekend for a chat and a few demos ... Guys, Sencheezy is a real "down to Earth" kind of guy !!! It was really cool to meet up with you Sir and get a demo of your ride !!! Sorry about missing your "ride the light" run, but I got called back to the LP demo booth. I will be sure to catch it on the next run ... hopefully we will be competing together at SBN Daytona !!! my under / hub glows got tore up during the accident on the way to finals (blew a trailer tire in the rain and almost flipped the vehicles) ... As for the SSA Evil driver ... Very impressive !!! Gets very loud and does supsrisingly good playing music too !!! Seemed really stro…

I have been waiting on posting this until I can hook up with my brother and use his digicam to try and get a nice video, but that does not look like it is going to happen this week, so here goes............ I will update with a video when I can. First off: I want to say thank you to everyone at SSA for answering all my questions and for the good advice. I have read a ton and have learned a lot. Still have a long way to go, but I am happy to be a member of an adult car audio forum with intelligent people giving good advice. A big thank you to Mark and the moderators. Keep up the good work guys. What I have: I have them in a kerf ported box 7cf tuned to about 33-34 built f…
