Im in the market for a new substage and these are my choices, either some Assassin/Arsenal 10/12s or the DD 1510s/1512s. For now I have 1600w to play with @ 1 ohm (brutus 1600) and up to 4cubes total before disp. This will be going in a single cab truck and Im looking for the loudest possible daily driver. What are ya'lls thoughts. Which would be better boom for the buck?

I have a pair of old Atlas 12's left over from a previous install, and was toying around with the idea of putting them into a ported box. Has anyone run atlas's ported and can give me their thoughts on it? Also, what would be a good enclosure design for a ported box for them, thinking low tuned around 30hz or so.....

Is the atlas 12 able to be used in an IB set up for car audio? I can't find any of the old specs.

So ive got 2 atlas 12s and they have that odd dvc setup (1 4 ohm coild and 1 2 ohm coil). i remember reading that u shouldnt wire the amp directly to the 2 ohm coil. what id like to know is, what are the various ways to wire up a pair of these subs. like what final ohm loads can i achieve and how do i wire them to achieve this. if u cant wire the 2 ohm coils by themselves, is it possible to wire them along with the 4 ohm coils? all this time ive only been wiring the subs at 2 ohms for 2 subs or 4 ohms for one sub just using the 4 ohm VC.

well here's what i used to have, tuned to 35hz 3 cubes each sub. In the trunk of my stratus ran at 1.333 ohms on an orion 1200d hit 143db on the TL i then moved on to one 15" ava..don't remember the specs on the box and never had it metered, was tuned low as hell though, i was stoned on flu meds when i designed the box, thats why the internal volume was only about 2.5 cubes My last sub setup was two 12" avas in .7 cubes each sealed, forget what i metered with the box facing the trunk, i think it was 139 but i don't remember as it was my progression towards SQ. Does anybody have the original sealed enclosure size recommendation and the driver cutout diameter for the Avalanche 12"? I found the 15" and 18" info through search and on their archive website but can't find the 12" info. Thanks in advance!

I have been running my Avalanche 15 in an unfinished sonotube for many months on a low wattage amp. I have never been able to really crack it up, but hooked it up to a new Sony PA amp and tried it with sine waves from a computer with the amp turned up full. I noticed after a small while the centre of the cone on the speaker was warm and there was a smell starting to come from the port hole in the magnet. How is this possible just from 70 watts ??? I can verify it was about 70 watts as I measured the current and voltage which was 4.7 amps, 14.2 volts with load applied. It would be great if someone could make sense of this.

anyone ever did a ported box at about 3.0 cubes @30 hz for an avalanche 15? if so how does it perform? i have alot of power to throw at it so i can build a smaller box

Hi All I've got 2 Avalanche 15" drivers, both of which I recently got from shipped from the US. I also recieved the EP2500 I'm going to be driving them with just a few days back. Im eventually going to be installing an IB sub for HT, but for now I'm going to build dual enclosures. Yesterday I hooked each of them up without enclosure, (haven't build them yet!) just to make sure they work. one works fine, but the other makes a "tapping" or "clicking" sound as it moves. the sound is like the sound it would make if you put your finger close enough to the cone that it hit it every cycle. I didnt realize i had the gains up so high on this 1600 watt amp i got for the sub. LOL I know I need a recone kit cuz now no bass will play... not sure if i destroyed everything though? I know the cone is probably fried going to need new one but im going to have to call the speaker builder and ask if i need a complete rebuild kit.... but next time im going sealed wandering though can the avalanche handle 1000 watts as a daily driver? cuz i wanna know about how much wattage to give it and how should it be tuned? do i need an eq or some type of epicenter think its called where you can adjust what note frequencys your sub hits... I have an 18" Avalanche that i bought about 1.5 yrs ago. Was wondering how much it would cost to get it reconed. Had it in a 13cu.ft box tuned to 30hz with 1200RMS and i loved it, but i assume it took all it could and is now making a scratching sound when i turn it up.

well both of my avalanche (i think thats what they are) 12's are toast. been that way for about 3yrs, and im now looking for subs for my car and figured why not get these reconed. one is scratchy when pushing in and out and the other plays till you turn it up then it cuts out and throw amp in protect mode. same goes if its turned all the way down and you push the cone in. Just a lil something I put together from the vids I got from few weeks ago at the Palms. Gotta say the system is awesome. The bass is some of the best I've heard. Clean, tight and ballsy! Front end and subs are good measure of each other both blend well. I'm sure if Steve wanted to he could take that thing into an SQ competition with some RTA work.. stage wise he has speakers placed just about everywhere so you have height and depth.. I'm just sad not to have heard it all with the 4 alternators running as I'm sure its a little off what its capable of doing to the ear drums, needless to say mine didn't pop like a certain someones lol. 5MD drivers are no joke.. I can't wait…

I have an Assassin 8 that the cone separated from the motor. Im looking for info on getting it warrantied or reconed or getting a discount on a new assassin. Just something,lmao. I was running 400w to it, I had 4 of them on a hifonics brutus 1600. Wanged on daily but not to the point of distortion. Any info or something would be helpful. In anyone's professional opinion, what port area would you recommend for 2 AAchaos 10's in a 5 cuft box running off 1 saz3000 at half ohm(or do you think this is too much for the amplifier?)? to be tuned to 33hz for street bass use. 5cuft is what i have available any recommendations?
