Was thinking of inverting my BTL UFO 12" as the cutout diameter is the same size as the motor. Should I compensate box volume for this action? I may want to revert it normally in the future, but I have a show on the 17th that I will be attending and would like to show this beast motor off. Space is not an issue, as I am downsizing from my previous enclosure for my zcon. Is there an audible motor noise that comes with this? downsides?

Hey guys. I found a BL 15 for $230 and couldnt pass it up. Anyway I have a BL 15 with the cooling and daily option. The new one has the flatwind and SPL option. Would putting both of these in the same box cause problems? Would playing music through the SPL option sub be an issue?

Hey all, I had to make a new username I guess because of the crash..anyways The dustcap on my Q is getting very warm. I am using my BXi-1500d, which probably does an actual 1000w @ 1ohm. I have the Dual 2 coils. The gain is set 1/2 way on the amp, the sub pre-out is @ +6, which basically uses the full voltage (2.2v). I don't think I can be overpowering the Q. And there is a funny smell, not sure if it's the VC glue or the VC melting itself. What should I do, because I don't think I am overpowering the Q with this amp. Here is a video BTW:

ok, i have two q 15's w/ bp power and I was just wandering what the actual power handling of these is with the bp power? I want to power these with an IA 40.1 if not too much and my box is 8.18 cuft. tuned to 27hz. I also have two optima 34/78 yellowtops in the rear and a red top in the front with dual runs of 1/0 to the rear and dual 1/0 will be going into the amp also. thanks

Well, first post here. I'm a long time member of caraudio.com/forums, but browse here frequently. So basically, I just bought a BTL off ca.com and want to know if it'll still be able to use it. It has a snapped tinsel lead and some holes burnt in the spider (see pics below). I was wondering if you guys think i'll be able to just replace the tinsel leads and use it like it is. I asked quite a few people over at ca.com about it, and most seemed to think I would be able to get away with just doing that. Obviously, i don't know much about recones/repairing subs. First my brothers now mine and I've read of several others... So of course I had to go about fixing it... Might be getting a Chevy Avalanche at the end of the week... Planning a system for it since it will be my new daily ride. I know that I can fit 6 18s inside there, but the airspace is small. Would be around 2.8 sealed per sub, then I would polyfill the heck out of the inside of the box. That would get each sub seeing around 3.4 cubes roughly. They would be in a sideways clamshell, so that would help them load off each other. Think I could get away with this with any of the subs FI/AA makes? Maybe the SSD? Q? Chaos? Havoc?

so allways hear people talk about how there dust cap is warm is it normal blah blah... and then say some or one is warmer then tha other......... but i never see people ask how hot is too hot!>? i know it will be warm just knowing how a sub works i know it will be warm... mine arnt too hot.. i dont think they are!

Well today we had a gathering amongst friends in Honolulu Hawaii with a Term lab to play around with.... Fi was killing the scene.... TL meter..... DB Drag setting... peak hold, sweeps and sine waves then music... We got to show off a 10" BL a 15" Q and an 18" BTL on a sundown 3000D.. I have to say Philips 10" BL is so damn impressive... some of the new guys that showed up were amazed at what that 10" BL could put out (numbers wise and sound wise)... Not many 10's on this island can boast a solid steady 142 on a TL with a single 10... The 15" Q first run was right up there with some of the other DD set-ups that were veterans.... hey guys just curious about a H O alternater i found online. i wanna know if anyone has any knowledge of these or uses this alternator at all. also any suggestions for alternative alternators are welcomed. the set up i am going to run is 2 12' BL subs with a saz-2000d. looking at a xs power battery as well. i have already done the big three. here is a link to the alternator i was looking to buy. any input would be nice..if you had to pick, 4 q 12s on 6k ported or 6 12s sealed on 9 k?

Is it comparable to the Q or BL? i just want 1 12" sub that will sound nice and still get loud in a ported box. this is my first option. Or i would get 2 12" CV vmax. either would be powered by a kicker zx750.1(900rms) Opinions?
