Now that we have established the new direction we are taking with the trying to re-iterate the importance of having manufacturing (instead of manu-packering) here in the states it reminded me of something I learned of in history class years ago. FDR was famous for his "Fireside Chat's" back in the days of nothing but a radio to talk to the people on a personal level...so this is what we are going to do. Join us in the chat Wednesday nights at 7pm Pacific time (10pm eastern). We'll be having random contests and give away things while we are live in the chat. If you have some technical questions we definitely don't mind helping you out. Scott and I will be on there and try …

We have the BTL N2 subs up on the site for sale with specs. As mentioned there will be about a 4 week lead time on the first orders of BTLs. This is due to waiting for the balance of steel and heatsinks to arrive. N1 will be up late tonight. Thanks, Scott

This is the standard replacement for the Gen1 and Gen2 BTLs. It has similar power handling and options. The heatsink/inductance ring which was an option on the Gen2 is now integral to the design. We spent quite a bit of time testing the sinking and cooling to ensure that the Neo magnets used would not suffer degradation due to heatsoak (a problem which plagues other designs). Form followed function with the motor and is why these new versions are a fairly radical departure from the last designs. Weight loss is significant compared to the 11.25" diameter magnets used in the Gen2 motors. More info to come both on the site and here. We are trying to get pics for the N…

Here are a couple of pics of the N1 motor. Little odd looking compared to most designs, but form followed function. This is rather close to final version, except that material for top and bottom plates is a little thicker (for future profiling) and I wasn't paying enough attention when I wrote the code and wrapped the chamfer all the way around when it doesn't need to be where the spacers/end caps mate.

Ive been contemplating this recently and was wondering how the Fi would do in home audio? I am considering a a IB or a Q but then again I have a spare BL just sitting here. Which would work best and how well will they really perform. Lets be honest here I want loud and good sounding in my car but for home use I am more focused on SQ then breaking things. Thanks

Alright so i have been thinking of buying an 10" FI Q sub and i am quite positive that its what i want. But the only downside is that i have no idea about the size of the amp that would be a good size for this, and also the right gauge wire.. my cousin is going to help me with installation, but first i would like some suggestions for wiring and amps. So if someone could help me out that would be great.. thanks

Well..given the direction we are taking with the trying to re-iterate the importance of having manufacturing here in the states it reminded me of something I learned of in history class years ago. FDR was famous for his "Fireside Chat's" back in the days of nothing but a radio to talk to the people on a personal level...so this is what i want to do. I'll hop in the chat in the evenings when I have time if you want to shoot the breeze. I would rather not to get into a technical debate or an enclosure Q&A as well we have the forum for that. But if you'd like to come in and shoot the breeze go for it. I'm in there now for those who have never been in, it is at the top of…

I am new to the car audio scene, and I would like to get the best bang for my buck, but I also want to "go big". I Have never seen an 18" subwoofer box before let alone an 18" subwoofer irl. I know they are pretty big, I want to know the standard ported box recommendations for an SSD 18, and if that box will fit in my 1990 jeep YJ with the back seats out. Help from you experienced set of guys would be very greatly appreciated!

hey guys, i currently got a Fi 15" BL with an aq1200d, in a 3.3 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hz, it is a crappy box made out of 0.50 mdf because i just wanted the system in lol. I know this sub can get much much louder. How does a box just under 4 cubes (3.78) tuned to 35hz sound to you guys ? also with gains down could this sub eventually maintain an aq2200d ? I would have gains set so its pushing about 1500rms thnx guys !!

So my budd is worried about his electrical in his 2000 Toyota 4Runner and wonders if he needs to upgrade his Alternator and/or battery. He's running I think a yellow top under the hood, and we'll be running an AQ1200D on my 18 soon enough. Thanks guys

Alright, right now im running two Alpine X 10" and i guess there pretty loud and have great sound quality for what iv heard, but iv never been able to find the actual SPL rating on them so i cant really compare them to anything else i want to buy. Basically, iv been thinking about buying new subs for a while now but im not too sure which ones to get. I still want SQ but i want to be a bit louder ^^. Im just looking for any input really, im quite new to this stuff and havent heard many other systems other than my friends 2 W7's. Any suggestions are welcome -Thanks Mike.

I have the choice of buying a Hifonics 1210 at a discounted price, a Kicker 1500.1, or my personal fave the Audioque 1200D. The kicker isn't 1 ohm stable and I have a dual 2 ohm Q coming in. The hifonics isn't reliable at one ohm from what i've seen/researched Audioque, I heard nothing but great reviews for. Thanks guys

Okay, so here's the dilemma I'm having: whether to go with multiple smaller subs, or a couple bigger subs. Now, I've looked this up, but nobody seems to get it. Yeah, if you power one single, massive woofer with enough juice, it'll outperform 2 subs with lower wattage, but what I'm trying to figure out is: say you have 1 or 2 18" woofers, and lets say 4 or 6 12" woofers, with equal total wattage going to either set of woofers, which one is going to be louder? Also, I've heard the bigger woofers will hit lower hertz louder, at lower volume levels than smaller woofers. But, will quantity compensate the larger size of the bigger woofers lower response?
