I'm planning on buying a 18inch fully loaded BTL. I have a few options in mind for an amp. I personaly like Soundstream amps. Hifonics as well as Planet audio make cheap but powerful amps.IMO JBL make the best underrated amps but there are so many choices to choose from. On this forum Sundown is the amp of choice by many. I found this link with a list of some athe most powerful amps on the market. Take a look at this link and tell me how accurate you think this list is also wich amps you think don't belong on this list. http://www.lightav.com/car/amps/poweramps.html

  2. Alright so i have been thinking of buying an 10" FI Q sub and i am quite positive that its what i want. But the only downside is that i have no idea about the size of the amp that would be a good size for this, and also the right gauge wire.. my cousin is going to help me with installation, but first i would like some suggestions for wiring and amps. So if someone could help me out that would be great.. thanks

So I've searched this subject just can't seem to find an answer. I have a 15" SSD basket and motor(double stack), how can I tell what coil was in it before? I don't want to buy the wrong coil and it not fit as FI says the flatwind coil option has an upgraded motor. Thanks in advance!

I am currently in the process of building my dream system in my dream car (1970 olds). My experience with sound systems is limited to small amps and subs, never anything as big or expensive as I am attempting now. I am purchasing 2 12'' dual 1 ohm BTLs (as an spl driver) with all the trimmings and the option in the recommended enclosure shown in the cut sheets that are provided in the Tech forum. The amp I'm going to be using to power these beasts is a T40001bd. T40001bd - 4000 watt 1-channel amplifer 1500x1 @ 4 ohms, 3000x1 @ 2 ohms, 4000x1 @ 1 ohms. I just ordered a 270 amp alternator that does 120 amps (or 170) in idle from dc alternators (as recommended from someone…

I really do hate asking this question, but I am curious. I only really see everyone running 15's and 18's, not 12's. Does anyone know how the 12" BTLs sound?? Or at that size would it be better to go with a BL or Q?

I ordered a recone kit w/ basket for a Q. Wondering what all is included with this recone kit--push terminals, bolts for basket to motor, shim, CA glue, etc.? I'd like to have everything on hand when kit comes in.

Hey Scott, I emailed you, but read that other recone thread about not supposed to email you other then shipping, so I thought I'd post here. (And sorry I didn't read that sticky earlier) Anyway, In previous emails, we discussed reconing a 12" Adire Brahma MKIII, and I have the sub packed and ready to go. I just need a quote on the cost of shipping the sub back to me when it's done. I live in Honolulu, HI 96819. Thanks.

Hi, i currently own the Q15s w/BP. The SQ is exellent but i would like more output. I have heard BLs dont get a lot louder than the Qs and the BTLs are way louder than both. My question is... Would the BTLs get louder than the BLs on 1500 watts. I dont see anyone running a BTL on 1500 watts. Also, the amps im running are MTX TA8001 1500 watts at 1 ohm (birthsheet says around 1900 watts at 14.4 volts so im might be getting around 1700-1800. Thanks Keith

Its looking like a bunch of SSD's or the Ascendant equivalent for the new bass race system, with the amps I will have each sub will be getting about 400-500 watts each (most likely 12 x 15's sealed)....i know thats below the rms rating for the ssd's but the idea is that I'll be able to demo and bang on the system a lot longer, plus i like having a 3in coil woofer. Just wondering if anyone has ever used SSD's with this kind of power? Results?

i will be entering my first bass race comp on may 20th. a friend of a friend was talking crap about my system, saying its nothing compared to his. so, i found a local termpro sanctioned comp and challenged him lol. i have a fully loaded 15" BTL powered by a ma audio hk4000d, 4 cubes ported box tuned to 34hz, 2 yellow tops, HO alternator, big 3. from what im told he's got 2 JL 12W6v2's powered by some crossfire amp(s) in a ported box, with no electrical upgrades. i have an 05 explorer and he has a newer jeep grand cherokee. it might be a close match up, but i have a feeling that i will take the win, at least from him. i will post my number(s) and also the results. im open …

I got rid of my G35 and bought an Explorer which I decided not to keep, so I got myself an '07 Dodge magnum. I have a pair of Q15's and a US Amps MD2 running off of a hi-lo converter on the stock system, and it still sounds tremendous. In a couple weeks I am installing a new HU and some mids and highs, but mu question for you is....What subs would you run in a Magnum if you were going for a LOUD daily ground pounder that would meter well. Meaning, not an all out SPL setup. Stick with the Q's? Get a pair of 15" BTL's? A single 18" BTL? My new baby...

It's great that Ficaraudio is busy and prospering. That means they'll be around for a long time to come. In the meantime, it appears that they have an auto responder taking care of some of the e-mails. Any idea when you guys will be caught up. I may be ordering drivers in the next week or so and I had asked a couple questions that I didn't necessarily think were fodder for the general forum. Carl

So I'm new to this forum, but hoped I could get a little bit of help on an upcoming build I'll be helping a friend out with. He bought an 18" Fi BL which the seller claimed was "fully loaded". And he wants some help building a box for it. My 1st question is there a way to insure what options it was built with, like is there a serial number that can be looked up to see what it was originally bought with or a way you can tell what options it was built with? My next question is what is the optimal enclosure for these assuming it is fully loaded? He'll be running around 2500 watts (we'll set the gain to meet the power capabilities of the sub once we know what it truly is). H…

Hello everyone. I'm in the process of building a small budget system and I want to get the Fi X 12" as my sub in a sealed enclosure. It will get power from Crescendo 1000C4(~500W bridged). I know that the recommended enclosure size ranges from 0.6-1.1 cuft but I don't know if I should go with a larger(1.158 cu ft.) sealed box or a smaller one(0.749 cu ft.). I listen to dubstep, rap(eminem) and rock. I want the sub to have good amount of output and produce good lows. Here are the enclosures that I'm looking at: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7589_Sonic-Sub-Box-1H12-0.7-Gray.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7590_Sonic-Sub-Box-1H12-1.0-Black.html So which enclos…
