General Fi

my amp has been really hot every time ive played my system..Ive had it for 2 days now. Is there a reason why this is happening, its hurts to touch if you keep your hand on it for more then 3 or 4 seconds. Only on the outsides. The amp is a zx1000 kicker. My sub is also get hot along with the amp, but not as fast and not near as hot. Is this normal..This is one of my first systems

I ordered my second pair of SP4 15s last friday and today the order status switch to "manual verification required". Im an electrician and work out on the road all week on the current job im on. Nearly impossible for me to get packages at my address, so i had them shipped to my girlfriends house. If someone from Fi wants to vall me, my cell phone # was included with the order. When i ordered my first pair of SP4s i tried to do the same thing and they were shipped to my address anyways. They almost ended up getting sent back. Life on the road...it sucks! So please get ahold of me Fi!

I'm thinking of getting one Q12 and powering it with a Kicker ZX1000.1 at 2ohms. I listen to mostly rap music and I'm looking for a sub that will give me accurate bass and can also give me great high and low bass. I hear the Q is great on low bass but I was wondering how is it at high bass? I know that getting a set of 10's would probably give me better high bass, but I'm looking for something that will give me a good mix of both.

Its looking like a bunch of SSD's or the Ascendant equivalent for the new bass race system, with the amps I will have each sub will be getting about 400-500 watts each (most likely 12 x 15's sealed)....i know thats below the rms rating for the ssd's but the idea is that I'll be able to demo and bang on the system a lot longer, plus i like having a 3in coil woofer. Just wondering if anyone has ever used SSD's with this kind of power? Results?

If I have 4 BTL N218's with 2 amps with 3500rms will the amps blow the subs? Because the subs have 2000rms?

I finally was able to order the 10" Q I wanted. It's been about a year and a half since I've had any kind of a decent system so I am very happy. It will be going in a 91 MR2 turbo which is a 2 seater so I had to go with a small sealed box. With how small the cabin is it will still get loud regardless and from what I hear about the Q it will sound damn good too. I've already got the rest of my system installed so all I'll have to do when the Q comes is drop it right in. Hey guys, i had some concerns about my future system. I'm planning to get an FI SP4 18, AQ3500.1D, and a high output alternator 200@idle and 375 max in the very near future. I can't wait to get it, but now I've ran into another problem. My powerbass oem replacement components and coaxials just aren't going to cut it. I'm planning on running 3000rms to the sub. About how much power would i need in some new tweeters and components, etc., to even out the sound? I don't want to hear JUST bass, i would like some nice highs and mids to come close to match it. Any power, speaker, amp, etc., suggestions would be appreciated.

Alright so i have been thinking of buying an 10" FI Q sub and i am quite positive that its what i want. But the only downside is that i have no idea about the size of the amp that would be a good size for this, and also the right gauge wire.. my cousin is going to help me with installation, but first i would like some suggestions for wiring and amps. Just out of curiosity, what is the operating temperature of the magnets in the BTL N2. I'm sure Fi researched this, but I was just curious. From what I can gather, the operating temperature for ferrite magnets is around 300*C, but the operating temperatures for neodymium magnets is quite lower (source). What grade exactly is the magnets used in the N2? As in, is there a letter following the "N48"? I don't know exactly how hot the magnets get, but I read that voice coils can exceed 150*C. Thanks!

This made me smile if its truthful. I hope to be able to break 110 dB once I get both of my amps strapped to my 15. But still, is it most likely his in car speakers doing that? Or is it his sub?

Hi, i currently own the Q15s w/BP. The SQ is exellent but i would like more output. I have heard BLs dont get a lot louder than the Qs and the BTLs are way louder than both. My question is... Would the BTLs get louder than the BLs on 1500 watts. I dont see anyone running a BTL on 1500 watts. Also, the amps im running are MTX TA8001 1500 watts at 1 ohm (birthsheet says around 1900 watts at 14.4 volts so im might be getting around 1700-1800. Thanks Keith

Hey, I'm not really sure where to post this comment so I figured this would be the best spot since it's pertaining to my fi gear. I am considering going to my first comp, trying to find somewhere within 4hours of Myrtle Beach SC and I think the closest place is roanoke rapids next month. I am not sure which class I will be in trying to find out before I go. I will be competing with my daily driven yukon, boxes come above the window line (where in a newer yukon they would not ) I have 2 18" btls, 3 batteries (might get a few more, depends on class) and 2 4kw amps. Honestly in your experiences does the FI Q work/sound better in a sealed or vented enclosure? and does this seem to change with size? (ex. a 10in Q sounds better vented while a 12in. Q sounds better in a sealed box) Just wandering what everyone's opinion is

I recently had 2 12 Q's and am upgrading to 2 15 Q's and was wondering will I lose a noticeable amount of SQ? Both applications are sealed boxes. Same amp & location

I really do hate asking this question, but I am curious. I only really see everyone running 15's and 18's, not 12's. Does anyone know how the 12" BTLs sound?? Or at that size would it be better to go with a BL or Q?
