General Fi

As it states, this is just something I am curious to see. All would be in the optimum enclosures and tuned appropriately. I am curious how many pick sealed vs ported, size of the subs, etc. Again, this is all subjective and I am doing this out of curiousity to find out what the majority of you audiophiles would really go with. Lets say 1k watts per sub. optimum enclosure. trunk install. I am tryin to get ideas of what a general Fi user loves before I even start thinkin of my next setup.

Hello, I am having some problems with my Fi Q 12" and I dont know what happened. The other day I was listening to some music and then suddenly my sub stopped working completely. I tested the resistance from both the coils and only one side is working, what should I do? Do I need a recone? Ive sent some emails to scott nick and the sales emails and called and left a few messages but havent heard from anyone yet. Is there any way the sub could be fixed?

how much longer will the old x series woofers be selling i bought two of them but but in two weeks to a month id like to buy two more i absolutely love them and want more lol so as soon as i save up the money i want two more so i hope they will last long enough for me to get them

I just took 1st in class two weeks in a row with one 12" BTL fully loaded doing a 142.2 coming out of the trunk of my car. I rebuilt my box to 45 Hz instead of 33 Hz and gained 1 DB I think that we are going to wall of my trunk to try and get another 3 to 5 DBs out of it. Is any one else going to world finals for USACI in Omaha Ne this year or will I have to be the only one that represents FI this year? Also let me know what you think about walling off a 300.

Well, I went to a dbdrag today and competed in Bassrace. It was so damn hot outside! It was closing in on 120 degrees! Noone was metering... Just about everyone was down 2.5-3.5dbs. I was such a dumbass I played my subs when I got there and ended up having to go meter with drained batteries and my subs were pretty warm after demoing for like 30 minutes. My score sucked balls, only a 151.5 in bassrace. Oh well, it will be better when the conditions are better, and it might help a LITTLE when I know where my car peaks, and Im not playing some random song. i was bumpin on down the road and all of the sudden my sub cut out... perplexed, i went to the back to make sure all necessary wires connected ... as they were and drove home, pulled the sub out of my box and one of the tinsel leads was fried.........i have a 12" Q powered by a eD nINE running at 2 ohms and a comfortable 950 watts ....so i dont believe that this was an error on my part i have done all my big 3 running 4 gauge wire everything ....how and how much is it going to take to fix this asap......my sub should still be under warranty seeing how i bought it only about 7 months ago......please help i cant live without beats

im getting an explorer XLT and im wandering how 4 18" q's sealed would do VS. 2 18" BTLs ported. which would get louder which would sound better? im thinkin that the Q's would win both scenarios but i thought id come here to see what everyone thinks...

I got my sub last tuesday and it looks great. Today I finished my box and wiring up the sub when I found one set of the terminals was broken. It looks like someone tighten it to much and pulled the screw out. I included a pic of the problem. If I can get a new one I can put it on and solder it myself. Thanx for the help.

i have a dodge magnum. i see alot of people building boxes that have the subs firing up and the port towards the rear. ive never heard a car/truck with the box like that. ive always used rear face rear firing boxes. is there a difference? is it noticable if so?

First off Im gonna get either a BTL or Kicker, cant make up my mind. Either a Kicker SoloX 15(2) or Fi BTL 15(2), the kicker can handle 2500RMS @DVC 2 ohms and the BTL can handle 2000RMS @DVC 2 ohms.. So would the BTL 15 be able to handle 2500RMS or higher with the P Chamfer, Cooling, HiXmCoil, Daily, I Heat Ring, and not universal options? Also Im gonna try to put these in a lincoln LS, and I cant determine if I want BTL15s or BTL12s, which would you guys suggest? p.s. the amp I will probably be using is a SPL FX1-5500D with 2500RMS @ 2ohm, 3200RMS @ 1 ohm, is that a good idea or anyone got any other suggestions? Hi Everyone, I originally thought there was a problem with the subwoofer in my Expedition so I got an 8" RE re subwoofer on ebay to replace the oem. And this 8" RE8 is the single voice coil version, made back when Scott was in charge =). When I swapped the drivers, unfortunately I found out that it was the amp that was the problem. I opened the amp up and took some pictures of the guts. I didn't see any physical damage. Although I did find a piece of small plastic loose, but the weird thing is that it didn't look like it came from inside the amp. I have a BL 15, but im thinking of bumping up to 2 BL 15, but what is a good amp that can power 2 fully loaded BL's? and what kind of batterys? im thinking of facing the subs up. or straight back, or face both inside of the ride and close it up... im just wondering what amp... i have a redtop, and have the big three... jus little things, but im wanting to upgrade.

Got my recone in today, and it was a dual 2, and needed a dual 1. The coils read 1.6, I've checked multiple times and confirmed with another dmm. Everything else in the package was correct as far as the basket and dust cap. I understand the mix up as I ordered a d2 originally online and contaced you about the change via email and this forum. I read th eoptions explanation for the SSD but i was wondering if the copper coil increases the thermal power handling of the SSD i know flatwind bumps it up to about 1200 but i was possibily thinking about 4 SSD's + copper running off of 4000 rms

Hey all, I'm thinking of buying a Fi Q with the cooling option, and was going to power it with a Kicker ZX1500.1 or an MTX TE1501D. Both are rated at 1500 watts, but the kicker is at 2 ohm and the MTX is at 1 ohm. Would 2ohm be better, since I heard that running the same wattage, a 2 ohm amp is going to be more stable and run cooler/more reliably than those running at 1 ohm. First off...would the MTX be a better bet? I believe it has an adjustable subsonic filter for 20hz-50hz, where as the kicker is non adjustable at 25hz. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I heard it was an important feature. Could anyone explain the reasoning behind this? Secondly, any opinions, …
