It's been a long time since I've been back to the FI forums. Good thing the registration only took all of 2 minutes to complete. I like the new layout too. Ok, first I'll describe what's in my 2004 Mustang: 1) Prototype 12" BTL standard (in a ported custom fiberglass enclosure 32hz) 2) Reconed 12" RE HC (I swap these out every 2 months maybe because I do get picky with sound quality sometimes) 3) RF P800.2 4) and pair of JL 5.25" coaxials on a small 60rms mtx amp Also just got some thick Kicker 1/0 gauge wire which I will be upgrading from 4gauge wire. After the rewiring, I'll be upgrading the amp to possibly the T20001bd or similar output amp. I will post up the pictures…

I like loud and yes the 4 Q15's Sealed in LOUD!!!!, but I think I may change up so I don't have such a huge box in the back. When I was running only 2 Q15's ported in my magnum, my boy was running the single 18" BTL ported in his Impala and we were hitting identical #'s. He was pushing the BTL with a Power Acoustic 2000 and I was pushing the 2 Q's with a US Amps MD2. We both metered 152.7 legal on an AC mic. Once I stepped up to a 4 pack of Q15's and an IA 40.1 @.5ohms, I got about a 5 db increase and alot of air movement, which makes for nice hair videos..... I guess what I am wondering is....with an 18" BTL in 8cubes ported properly and tuned to 32hz and the sam…

Still paying off the past unsucessful attempt to get a decent substage in my truck. I am going to try the following: 2x 12" Fi Q DVC 1-Ohm AQ 2200d Amplifier(2200w@1-Ohm) ...in this box. Roughly about 1.6ft^3 in each chamber after subwoofer displacement. Sealed. Total Volume = 3.52ft^3. Housing two 12" Fi Q DVC 1 - .16ft^3 Subwoofer Displacement. Whatcha guys think? Its going behind the seat.

He wants to compete in local SPL comps, and recently switched from bahns to Vega V-Max. Personally I don't like how the V-max meter or sound, so I am trying to get him to switch to Fi. He is on a pretty tight budget, so I was thinking that the SSD's would be a good option for him to start with. Should the SSD's yield a noticable increase in SPL from the V-Max if they are in a proper box and and correct power?

I am not sure how IB sounds, but i am very interested in trying it. my problem is. if i do not like it. can i put the IB in a large ported enclosure? or can the SSD be used for IB? here a rough idea of how i will have to build the baffle to house an 18" IB. my trunk opening to the cabin is only 10x25 this is a side view. all lines are 3/4" MDF

I hate to ask this question, but I need to for my own clarification. I have been seeing a lot of IB setups lately, both on this forum and also in magazines. I listen to almost all heavy rap. Would an IB be totally out of the question due to all the extreme bass? SHould I just stay with my 2 10" BL's that I am planning? I like the look of them and the fact they take up so little room, I just have never seen one perform and dont know how they stand. Sorry for any inconviences, but it would be nice to know.

I just caught wind that there is an IB specific line coming out. Will there be a 10" version available? Got any x-max or power handling numbers yet? I would just love to do three 10's IB so I could regain the use of my trunk. Thanks for any info.

I know the recommended power for a standard Q is 1k watts RMS. If I had two Q's setup for IB purposes, about how much power should each see. I was told once use half the power and I have a Rockford 1000 amp, so would 500w RMS work or is that still to much for IB subs, I have no clue???? Don't wanna destroy the subs before I really get them going.

I JUST RECEIVED MY ib3 12 sub which looks better than imagined and alot heavier too!! i read that its 550@20hz. i was looking into getting an alpine pdx 5 for my car wich is 350 rms at 2 ohms. does wattage affect output in a free air sub? does the 550 @ 20hz mean i shouldnt give it more than 550 or would 550 be the minimum power. i dunno, its a bit confusing. some help on this would be appreciated im not much of a noob in the audio world so scientific explanations are welcomed! haha

For 15" BLs what is the ideal box size? I know on the 12s it was 2.4 @ 32, which performed great. What about 15s though?

  17. Screwdriver slipped and I poked a medium sized hole in the rubber surrond. I have it plugged up with silicone right now, but I was wondering how much it would cost to fix if I shipped it back to you guys. It's a 12" SSD. Thanks.

  22. Hey Im going to be purchasing 2 12s from the website sometime soon. Maybe 2 weeks or so. I havent decided on which ones to go with yet. I have a 03 ext cab silverado with 2 12s already in there. I know Im going to need something under 7" depth. What sub do you recommend? Also what are the differences in the SSD and the Q? ONE more question. I want to power them with RF amps how many watts should I throw to them? Im thinking 2 RF 600.1 or maybe 1 RF T15002.

its so stiff right now i can barely move it with my hand, the coils on the dmm read .7 ohm's and .5 ohm's. regardless of how i wire the VC's it ends up at .5 ohm's, not sure if its my dmm failing or if i just fail at life, any help? final ohm load should be 2ohms FI says .7 ohm's for D1 set so it should be ~1.4-1.5 ohm's

  25. Hi, my Fi 15" BL has recently stopped working. Today i got it tested at my local car audio shop. They told me that one voice coil is not reading a resistance and the other voice coil is reading around 25 ohms. They also told me the voice coil does not look burnt, it is still light copper in color. They also said that nothing smells burned and that the coil is not melted. My question is, does this sound like something that would be covered under warranty? Is any of this indicative of something Fi does not cover in their warranty policy? I noticed they do not cover open voice coils but the audio people i saw were not able to tell if it is open. I live far enough away tha…
