I just wanted to get some suggestions/thoughts on a SSD vs Q...which i know theres already been a bunch of topics on this. My friend is very knowledgeable of car audio (BTL fully loaded/kicker 2700w) and hes suggesting for my alpine mrp-m1000 (1000w @ 2ohm)a stock SSD 15" but part of me thinks id be better off with a Q from what ive read on here. I listen to all types of music, mainly rap/electronic. I just want to make sure im not dissapointed..volume wise.. with my next sub purchase (currently 12" type-r in sledgehammer). Thx.

Was wondering what options would be best for SPl use only. Box is 10 cubic feet after port and sub displacement tuned to 54Hz. Will be using 7,000 to 10,000 watts for burps. Using 10 Kinetik 16 volt batteries and an EA Alternator. Will use either 2 15" or 18" subs.

Did you guys ever finish testing the SSD in sealed enclosures? What would they like best? My friend is looking at getting an SSD 18, but doesn't want to give up all of his room for the box, so sealed is really the only route here (not to mention he likes rock so sealed is better too).

This is the first sub that I'm going to personally set up and I was just wondering what the major differences are between the SSD 12 and SSD 15... So far I've been told, "Oh, well that's up to your preference." I have no preference yet lol. From what I've seen online, the 15 would be louder and deeper, but would lose some SQ... In FI subs is it that much of a difference? What do MOST people seem to prefer based on personal experience? I listen to rap mainly, but I switch it up every now and then to R&B, jazz, and maybe a little rock here and there. Long story short... is it worth the 20 bucks haha

Alright well I have been trying to decide what sub/amp to get for about a month now. I already made the wrong choice once and am determined not to do that again. I am taking my time and am going to do everything right. I finally bought an amp, diamond D3 800.1 It can do 800 watts at 1 ohm so I decided an fi single 15 inch sub would work best for me. I notice the FI Q series has a real nice amount of X-Max. Does that mean a pair of the 12s could get real loud sealed with like 2000 - 3000 watts? Correct me if I'm wrong, does it mean that when a sub has alot of throw it'll be a great sub for sealed operation?

I was going to order 3 BL fully loaded 15"s, these are going to be powered by 2x sundown 3000D's. Will this be to much power or just perfect?

Hey, I am going to buy an 18" BTL within the next month. im working with some tight space though. I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy and i "need" to keep the spare tire in the trunk as far as my parents are concerned... i think the dimensions of the trunk are about 26"L 28"D 30"H but im not sure... i will re measure and update when soon if im wrong. i know it came out to about 7 cubes when i had it measured... pretty much what im asking is what design box, and the size of the port i need. i want both the sub and the port facing up. building the box is easy. im not to sure on how to "tune" it or what ever. im not sure what i want it tuned to either. i listen to rap (lil jon, jeezy, …

Hey Scott or Nick, Ive tried emailing both of you guys but anyways my sub is making some rattling noise, sounds like it is coming from inside the sub. I have it in a 2.25cuft box tuned @33hz powered by a kicker zx1000.1 the gain is 1/3 the way up and the bass boost is on zero. I never played any test tones just daily music. When I first had it hooked up it sounded like it was working perfect then once i turned up the volume on my head unit about halfway 35 out of 60 my friend noticed a rattling noise and we both put our ears up to it and it sounds like something is loose in the sub. everytime i come on here i read something different about the Q that makes me wanna get one. i had my mind made up on getting a fully loaded bl 12 until today where i read a post basically saying that the BL ain't chit compared to a Q, so i need some help here's what i want btw this is going in a 99 mustang(rear seat delete not trunk) sundown saz-1500, 225 alt, 2 powermaster batts(1 under hood and 1 in trunk), 1/0 guage wiring power/ground split off into 4 guage for amps, cabin fully deadened with 2nd skin or dynamat extreme. 1st question is it seems like people get either the Q or BTL why doesn't the BL or SSD get any love? 2nd question can the Q w/bp handle 1500 watts d…

I have two questions... 1. How much power can a fully loaded BTL take daily? 2. I plan to get an ia40.1 amp and run it on a 16 volt charging system. The setup will be in a blowthrough box in a 92 GMC. I am only worried about getting extremely loud. Which of these setups would be better two fully loaded btl's or three "stock" btl's?

Hello everyone I received my subs the other day and was wondering how I can tell if they are the ssd 15 or the Q 15? Does anyone have pictures of the ssd 15? How can I tell if the subs have the BP power option? I can only see one spider! There is no numbers or lettering on the subs to tell me which subs I have! sorry dont know how to upload the pics thanks....Brian

I had problems with my box and my Qs and i went over to Fi today and they spent a couple hours reconing one sub and raising the bracket on my seat so the box will fit better. thanks guys i appreciate it. cant beat the customer service and that great group of guys.

Hey guys, looking at pricing out a 15" BL and i wasn't sure what types of options I would need. I'm going to be running this off of a sundown 1500 @ 1 ohm and am looking to get away with the minimal options needed. My typical driving habits are pretty easy. I dont really ever bump it except a few times for like 10, 15 seconds. Would I be able to get away with just flatwind or something along those lines? About once a year i use this in a competition of maybe....2 runs of test tones for 30 seconds. Otherwise its pretty much your basic driving subwoofer, not a lot of banging on it. Lemme know what you think I can get away with or if I just need to get it fully loaded!

Well ive been wanting to go with btl's for along time and finally i got my money together. I have an RF 4000.1bd amp that i will be using for my setup. My question is...would that be to much for one 18btl? Will be going in my daily driver. I was going to get D1's incase i plan on adding a second later(which i probably will) Also if i run just 1 18 for now off that amp...would setting the gains on the amp to bout half or lower be alright? I dont wana throw to much power at it n mess the sub up.

so i may be having to ditch my q to get more cargo space if i get a cable install tech job. id really like to stick with fi but im not sure if a ssd would be thrilled getting 400w from a kx/zx550.3. has anyone sent thiers that little power? i could probably port it if i need to , but id like to keep it sealed for the sake of space. input?
