Hello, I am new to this forum and the proud owner of a new dual 2 ohm Q12 with BP option. I am looking to build a ported box for the sub tuned to the recommened 32hz. I would appreciate some help with the design. The sub will be powered by a Soundstream PCA1500D. I will most likely run the sub at 4 ohms for a while until I upgrade my Big 3 sometime this summer. I would like the box to be a slot port with rounded corners somewhere in the range of ~2 cubic feet. The box will be made out of 3/4" mdf Box outer size (max): 12.5" tall 30" or 32" wide (can't recall the correct measurement right now) Depth is variable So far my calculations have brought me to the following: …

ive spent about 4 hours trying to figure out how ohms work. i feel like im the only one that gets confused on this subject. apparently is simple. someone help. im going to get a btl 18 inch but im not sure if i need to get a dual 1 or dual 2. i want to run a Hifonics amp thats at least 2000w. but if someone could tell me what the ohms have to be on the amp for me to get. or if someone could suggest a Hifonics amp for me. that would be greatly appreciated. on another subject...... what are some decent quality speakers that go with this? (6.5 inch speakers) or just tell me some good companies to buy from

hey guys i'm about to get a box built by a friend and was wondering what the best size enclosure would be for my 12" Q. I've searched and read the website which recommends 1.8-2.5 @ 28-33 hz. I've heard mixed opinions, as I should as its personal preference, but what seems to be the best size/tuning for this sub for maximum output while maintaining good sound quality? Thanks!

I am getting ready to build a box for a btl n2 18 and I found these cut sheets on the forums Fi links to from their home page. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/44518-btl-box-cut-sheets/ The dimensions just so happen to be perfect to fit in my escape in the area I have left. I have 3 questions. Is this a decent box design? Is there any problem laying the box on its back to fire sub up port up? ( too close to back hatch I think to fire back ) And it shows the hole the sub goes in as 16 3/4 diameter. Is that right for an 18 inch btl? I figured it would be close to 18 inches?

So I just ordered an Fi Q 12" a few days ago. I only got the cooling option, didn't think the others would really be necessary. I also ordered an Audioque AQ1200D to push it. Only thing I still haven't made up my mind about is the enclosure. I do have limited trunk space, the recommended Q 12" ported box in the cut sheets thread will fit my trunk exactly with no room to spare. Sealed would be fine, but I really want to go ported. The car is an 09 GTI. Music would mostly be drum n bass, dubstep, other electronic music, basically a mix of lows and highs. I could either go sealed or a smaller ported box. I just want the clarity and crispiness along with being able to be hear…

I also found a ported one http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=21319 I mostly listen to rap but also listen to rock, death metal, etc. if that helps

Or should I say my son wants loud. I've e-mailed Scott a couple of times, but I know how busy he gets. I thought I'd try here. What I'm looking for is the loudest possiblw set up that I can get with an honest 1400 watts @1 ohm available. I can build a box any size I need to, so that's not an issue. It's going in a mini-van so I've got plenty of room. He's trying to do better than his current setup of 2 AA Arsenal 12's in a ported box (tuned around 32-35Hz). My initial thoughts were 2 SSD18's w/dual 2 Ohm vc's in a ported box, but I'm looking for advice from someone from Fi. Once the drivers are chosen, I'll need help with box dimensions. TIA, Carl.

im looking to get help designing a new box for my 18" ssd. the box is going in the back of my 00 expedition with the 3rd row seat gone so space isnt a problem. the amp is a rockford t1001bd. specs for the sub say 6-10 cubes 32hz. should i do the 10 cubes? or smaller? and am i better off running the 1 sub at the full power of the amp ( birth sheet says 1400 rms at 1 ohm) or running 2 18s and dividing the power? also if i did go with 2 subs what kinda cubes should the box be?

I'm really considering using Fi subs for a new comp setup. Vehicle is a full size pickup, so it will be a blow through solution. The primary question is, which sub(s) to go with. Goals: 150db at headrest, 130db outside on music. It will be entered in MECA's spl and park and pound format. P&P being the 130db outside goal. The two goals are the max points I can attain for what I'm looking for. Obviously if it is higher that's fine. One individual at the 2012 finals did a 155/129 on 4 speakers in a wall (don't know brand and I think they were 15's). I was originally thinking of a single 18, but I'm not sure that will get there. Also, if possible, I'd like to keep the b…

Looking at the BTL SPL vs Daily Option.. I would like to use a pair of 15"s mainly for SPL competitions, BUT i would like to squeeze JUST a song or two out of them every once in a while.. They are not to be used as daily play subs.. my question is, would i be able to get away with playing music for a short while with them, with the SPL option, or would i be better off using taking the daily option instead.. thanks

I wanna get a box built for my civic but don't know wtf to look for. Ok some info I plan on getting 1 fully loaded 15" btl when they update the site, and I wanna run at the most 2000w to it. Right now I only got an 800w amp but I plan on upgrading to a rockford fosgate t20001bd within a month. I also wanted to go ported instead of sealed on the box and I'm not to sure what Hz I should go with. Damn I feel so loss but I guess we all gotta start somewhere. So I'd appreciate the help and if more info is needed I'll give it. Thanks in advance

Just ordered my 15" SSD and cant wait for it to arrive. Now on to buying an amp for this little beast. It will be going into a 2008 Nissan Frontier 4.0L V6, enclosed in a 4.2cf. Ground Shaker box. My main concern is how much this sub can handle. Its the Dual 1 Ohm version along the flat wind coil option which Ive heard ups the power handling. Ive been looking around for an amp, Was looking at the Kicker zx1000.1 which puts out about 1100-1200W RMS, the MTX Xthunder X1000D, and the Alpine MRP M1000 all puting out similar rms W (1000-1200). I would like to go with the MTX for the reason that it is on sale for $269 on sonic. Ill include a product list below along with the mo…

Finished the recone on a fully loaded BTL 15 today and this thing sounds even better than what I wouldve ever guess... I have one question though... I brought the sub to a friend who owns a shop to get the recone and after playin it a bit... Pulled up to a friends house and noticed the dust cap fell off, so I bought some more epoxy 5 min loctite and put it back on no problems. After expecting my little glue job the dust is maybe 1/16 of a inch off from where it used to be. Will this hinder the subs performance at all? Its sounds fine to me, still loud as chit...(My wife said it sounds like a machine guns going off in the trunk.LOL) this is only a temp system... Next syste…

Ok, so I'm wondering if the Q is the right choice for me now. Roughly how much power will a fully loaded Q handle? I plan on running the 1500D at 1 ohm, so I suppose around 1600W. Thanks, Trevor

At the moment I am really thinking of running 2 12" BTLs. I know this may be a dumb question, but hey, I am new and gotta learn somehow....anyway, how do the 12" BTLs sound. I have heard some subs where the 12" would sound horrible (imo) but the 15 sounded great....both in the optimum setup and tuning. Just like some subs aren't really recommended for certain types of enclosures or applications....is it ok to use 2 12" BTLs for a daily driver or would it be more beneficial to use the BLs due to application types.

I have read a little about recommendations for size of sealed enclosures for the Q. Does anyone have some examples that they have built or used? I am not really sure how to figure out the cubes either. I know that sounds stupid, but I left math back in college. One last thing, what does "tuning to x-hz," mean? Thanks, flame all you want, just a new-B here
