I looked at FI's website and also at the sticky on this site, but still can not find the answer. If you can use a sealed enclosure, can anyone tell me the recommended internal volume? Thanks!!! ryan

Well im in my garage right now trying to decide if i should make a 5" slot port tuned to 32hz, a 4" slot port tuned to 31hz, or a 3" tuned to 27hz... Im using the RE calculator to build a box and when im looking at the 5" port it says the Volume internal, and volume displaced is 2000...on the others its 1500 and below..i have no idea what this means, is it how loud the box will be or what..Which port u think i should design???Also the larger the port the less box volume i have..its been between 3.6-4ft3..i cant make a bigger box so let me kno which port is gonna be the best!! PS. the box i have been running is below 1000 volume internal and displaced, so im guessing the …

I ordered 2 15" fi btl subs I also already have 2 rf t40001bd amps.. I was curious if everyone thinks I should just use one of the amps for both subs (each amp would have its own sub) or if 1 amp should be enough for both subs.. Any help is much appreciated

Hello everyone. I am receiving a 12 inch Q for Christmas which I am rather pleased about because Fi woofers are class... I was wondering what I should do about a box, the woofer is going in my bedroom instead of a car but all the reviews I have read about the Q lead me to it. It will be used entirely for music, rock, techno, a little pop, and perhaps some rap to show off a little. The room is about 8x10x8 with a chunk removed that is about a 18 inches by 3 feet for a closet, so not a terribly large room. One of my questions is the great sealed vs ported debate, which would sound better in this application. The Q will be more than plenty in a room this size either way. I…

Hi I need some questions answered on the x12. I need some input on what size and kind of box to put it in. I have a phoenix gold xenon 400.1 to power it and I listen to a lot of bass heavy music ( rap, chopped & screwed, etc.). I know what the website recommends but I would appreciate any input or suggestions. It will be going in a 1995 neon 2dr. Thanks!

Hello, I am new to the forum. I just purchased 4 Fi X12's on sale from Fi. I was wondering what kind of box I should use with them. I would like ported for more air movement. The Fi website does not have any recommendations for the sub besides the size of the box. "sealed= 0.9-1.3 Ported=1.6-2.2" cubic ft. I was looking for some kind of calculator for port size and what frequency would be good with these subs. They are going in a 1990 GMC Sierra ext cab w/removed back seat. they will be in a straight line. Should I enclose each separately or all in one enclosure with one port? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I was wondering if it would be possible to use a Q 12 in an infinite baffle setup. I would only be using around 300-400 watts. Any help would be much appreciated. (I know Fi has an IB sub, but since I have the Q already I would like to use it. If not then ill end up selling it and get the IB3 )

Hey guys. Got a question concerning how much power to give a BTL. My previous system was a loaded 12" BL @ 1ohm load, and pushed by a 1500D amplifier with gains at about 7/10 and 4V headunit @ 22/35. I figure it was about 1200RMS? Now, I see all these people with BTL's saying they push them with 3500RMS+. I just don't see how that's going to be possible.. I'm asking because I figured I could get away with running a 2500D amp for a single loaded 12" Fi BTL . Should I really be looking at more powerful amps?

Hello all, I have a 1999 GMC Yukon that I use on weekends to travel to sporting clays shoots. This truck will never be used in a Audio competition just two semi deaf old guys(36 an 38) like to play it loud. The current system is: Subwoofers and speakers 1 JL 18w3 2 Jl 10w0s 4 Infinity 6.5s Amps Kenwood 9104D (powering the 18) Alpine MRP-M500 (powering the 10s) Alpine MRP-F300 (powering the 6.5s) Other Two batteries high output alternator "big 3" This "system" does okay but we are getting a little bored with it. I have a second Kenwood 9104d (900 watt rms at 2ohm limited to 900watt at 1ohm from what little research I have done these amps really do around 700 wa…

Hey guys i have a 2009 silverado crew cab. i asked a few weeks ago how to get more bass out of my truck a few of you guys suggested raising my seats to accomadate larger subs and enclosure. that being said i raised my seats 4 inches. i now 3.8 cubes before any displacments. my questions are im looking for the best spl but i dont think ill have enough space for two 12 btls if i port the box. the box is 55 inches long and a port is gonna take too much space. the subs will be firing down into fatmat so i dont think im gonna hear much "music" out of them. any suggestions? thanks

So to start things off I have a 2000 silverado ext. cab. I am very interested in the FI Q series subs but have a quick question for those of you that are more knowledgeable than I. I would like to keep my back seat and put two subs underneath the seat, now my question is. which would be a better setup for a daily driver? I have approximately .8 cuft available for each sub. would two 12's sealed or two 10's ported be a better option? I understand that .8 cubs fits in both categories but have also heard that the 12's really need somewhere around 1.2-1.3 cuft. I listen to huge varieties of music at all different levels. and am not so much interested in hitting 145 db at one…

Hey, I'm a noobie with the whole forum thing, and a novice with the whole audio things too, but I have learned a lot since the beginning of the summer. I have a 96' ford explorer 4dr. And my current box is ~6.7cu ft tuned at 32hz. I am powering it with a PA a3000bd at the moment, and it sounds great. But I plan on buying another one soon. And my question is do you guys think that it could handle 4600 watts rms @ 1 ohm? I know that 01 tahoe on 26's lol puts over 5k with his new build, and was putting over 4k with his old system and has been slamming his BTL's since day 1. I know it wont be 4600w exactly since I still have stock batt and alt. But lets assume thats taking c…

Ok, I Have the Pioneer AVH-P5000 HU, an AQ-2200 amp, and 2 Fi Q 15s that are in a 5.5 cu.ft ported enclosure after all displacement that is tuned to 35 Hz. The HU has a RAC output of 4 Volts so i match that voltage as close as possible (3.9V). I tuned my enclosure to 35Hz so my Subsonic level is set to 30Hz. I know that the gain is the most important setting to any amp, followed by the Subsonic filter if you have a ported enclosure. Now am trying to find out how to set my Bass Boost and Low Pass Filter. I looked through the forum found info on the Gain and Subsonic filter but couldnt find anything on the BB or LPF. Are they just set by ear or do they have parameters. Can …

2 12" Fi Q subs in sealed separate 1.2 cu ft chambers powered by an AudioQue AQ2200 amp. On the amp I've got to turn the gain and bass boost all the way up and on the head unit the subwoofer and bass levels to the max just to hear the subs, and barely at that. Something is wrong here, and I need some help figuring out what it is. I've double checked, redone, and double checked all the wiring, and it is correct. The subs are 1 ohm DVC, and measured at the amp, is exactly a 1 ohm load. The polarity is not reversed anywhere. Tested the DC power at both the battery and the amp to see they are the same. Tested for a ground loop to find none. I'm at a loss as to what to look …

Currently I'm using the 9 cube @ 32hz after displacement feeding it about 1.1kw rms and it sounds pretty good but I was wondering would I gain anything from going with a smaller box (7.7 @ 35hz~). IE: would I feel the bass a bit more? would it bit any louder? The only real thing I know about having such a huge box tuned at 32hz is the lows it will pound, other than that I'm a noob when it comes to the dif sizes... Fi GURUS, once again I need your help!
